Well:

1. Stability: This SHOULD be the first completely stable release of the Mod, so no more random CTD's or other breaks, so you should be able to play to the end finally!

2. Unit Pop. Cost: Units now cost population, so no more unit spamming, you now have to think carefully on what to build and when to build, and balance the growth of your faction with the growth of your army. The A.I. also does this, but it is quite 'basic' at the moment, but we will work to refine it over the following releases.

3. MSDOS Combat: A Revolutionary new combat system! (Alright maybe that is an exaggeration) there will be a news report explaining this more fully after release, but it will basically look to simulate the combat trials of bringing order to chaos, (Think Afghanistan and Iraq) with Security Forces, Military Forces, and Black/Deniable Operatives, each with strengths and weaknesses, and it is up to the player to create a balance to secure their factions borders and prosperity. The line between War and Peace just got a lot blurrier, and borders are far less secure than one might like.

Tweaks: A whole bunch of tweaks to this, that, and the other to get things closer to the game in my head, including stat tweaks and a lot of AI tweaks.

some other things have had to be disabled for this release, as they will require a lot more work to get them right.

Overall the big thing is the stability, this was something I was unable to fix on my own, but we now have some new team members with the knowledge and skill to do it.

So what this means is we should see bigger and faster releases in the future, as now testing and tweaking can be done to the whole game, without worrying about it crashing all the time.

I know right!

We are so close it is annoying, we have this persistent irratating glitch to fix.. we thought we had got it but nope..

It just spams the turn alerts with about for messages per city per turn, and slows down the performance spamming these messages...

Once we FINALLY fix that, it will be ready to go!

Kraken Cloud (Voyager) I might be wrong on the name, it was an entity that 'ate' ships by pretending to be what they wanted. In the case of voyager this was a wormhole back to earth.

I think when it gets a bit further along in development I will look into what is involved in publishing on desura, I use it but I have never looked at how to publish stuff on there.

I have had a few people report a problem, with the mod not loading.

We are fairly close to releasing the next version of the mod which is a lot more stable, and will hopefully address this issue too (Although none of us have experienced this particular issue..)

My advice would be to track the mod on here, and then try out the new release when it arrives, and see if the problem persists. (As our dev version is so far removed from this one now we can't really trouble shoot specific issues, as we may have already fixed them..)

But for anyone reading this the next Update is going to be really good and HOPEFULLY completely stable! (We have a new programmer on the team!)

Hi guys, I cannot seem to get the mod to run, everytime I try it just loads Rome instead... I am fairly certain I have patched to 1.5 (it is difficult to know for certain as the patch installer doesn't let you choose the install path... and I cannot find a way to verify that it has actually patched to 1.5.)

This is my shortcut command line
"C:\Games\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -show_err -mod:WHTW

and I have put the WHTW folder in (rome)/data/WHTW like the readme says... I am just not sure what I am missing...I am on windows 7

Cool, most Civvers generally agree that Civ 4 is better than CiV, CiV is fun but it lacks something..

Also the Mod list for Civ 4 is mega and diverse, I have had a lot of fun playing Civ 4 mods :)

You HAVE to get the complete edition of Civ 4 though, as most mods require BtS and it gives you the full Civ 4 experience.

The space mods are particularly fun :)

I was hoping to have much more regular updates and a lot more content by now and in the future, but a lot of the issues I have been trying to resolve have taken a lot of time and generated little success, which slows down progress from both a development and motivation point of view...

But we keep chipping away!

feedback and comments are always helpful, especially for finding and fixing problems!

But also knowing what you enjoy and don't enjoy about the game! I have spent so much time buried in meaningless code that it is good to know what we are doing right and what needs tweaking!

I really want to get on to developing all of my faction specific content, but there really is no point until we can get it more stable and get the 'base game' operating effectively and enjoyably! :)

Yes I already have plenty of ideas for the fction content, and I have spent a lot of time at the wiki :)

I have never played DH, but that mod looks pretty cool :)

I was planning to have had a lot more stuff done by now, but the CTD bug that persists, has somewhat dampened my enthusiasm, over a month of work without success will do that.. so for now I have just given up on that particular bug fix, I will be releasing a new version soon, with some new art content and some minor tweaks to the ai to try and get the early game playing better, as well as a new map to better replicate the desired early game experience.

Also some other minor bug fixes, there are a couple other bugs, that I need to try and get fixed too, but I am not entirely sure where the 'break' has occurred.

Thanks for the feedback, I am glad you like the vault concept, this was one of the first development ideas I had, so I am glad you enjoy it. I did not know about the vault 'bug' so wwe shall see how opinions go on this :).

Yes the Superforts is a cool modcomp, I am glad I was able to add it I think it will add a lot to the game. I am already thinking about making 'fort cities' but it is still early days, it will work the same way as village/vault system, iti s still really eaarly days, I haven't really thought about what to do with it yet, I am also not sure how the ai will handle it. It will probably be things like special defence building or military xp buildings, things like this, maybe even some wonders or national buildings that can only be built in forts, there are a lot of options..

Naval warfare will not be in the original mod, although I am thinking about the concept of Fallout Tame the World... but that is SO far off as to be non existent, there is SO much to be done with this still!
