I have never played DH, but that mod looks pretty cool :)

I was planning to have had a lot more stuff done by now, but the CTD bug that persists, has somewhat dampened my enthusiasm, over a month of work without success will do that.. so for now I have just given up on that particular bug fix, I will be releasing a new version soon, with some new art content and some minor tweaks to the ai to try and get the early game playing better, as well as a new map to better replicate the desired early game experience.

Also some other minor bug fixes, there are a couple other bugs, that I need to try and get fixed too, but I am not entirely sure where the 'break' has occurred.

Thanks for the feedback, I am glad you like the vault concept, this was one of the first development ideas I had, so I am glad you enjoy it. I did not know about the vault 'bug' so wwe shall see how opinions go on this :).

Yes the Superforts is a cool modcomp, I am glad I was able to add it I think it will add a lot to the game. I am already thinking about making 'fort cities' but it is still early days, it will work the same way as village/vault system, iti s still really eaarly days, I haven't really thought about what to do with it yet, I am also not sure how the ai will handle it. It will probably be things like special defence building or military xp buildings, things like this, maybe even some wonders or national buildings that can only be built in forts, there are a lot of options..

Naval warfare will not be in the original mod, although I am thinking about the concept of Fallout Tame the World... but that is SO far off as to be non existent, there is SO much to be done with this still!

Yes you will see that the colours and many of the backing screens are made from fallout computer screens,(most notably the pedia screen) and the green matches (or is fairly close) To the green text colours used in the original fallouts. the problem with using a lot of the computer screens from fallout is that their 'borders' are very large, and there is not enough space to use them and still have space for what needs to be 'on the screen' so certain compromises have to be made to walk hand in hand with the civ system.

in terms of the game we are still very early in all the development, (although it has been months) you'll see that a lot of unit buttons have art from fallout, one problem is that the buttons are very small and the art sources are very large, so it actually takes quite a lot of effort to make some buttons, as they have to be cleaned and sharpened, etc. So in many cases a lot of time can go into one button that is just 64x64. We're are also trying to create a style and uniformity to many of the buttons rather than having a mish mash of different backgrounds poses etc. To try and give a unified look to the game. Perk graphics will feature heavily in buttons, if you look at the action buttons you will see the beginnings of this.

We have spent a lot of time figuring out what code effects what visuals, and how much we can transform these. None of us are expert coders or anything close to that, so most advancements come after long hours of trial and error, (mostly error)

As to the Leader portraits, I don't want to use 2d art, as the 3d is already quite close to what we need/want for the leaders, and the current content is an advertisement to try and entice new artists onboard, without them having to model work from scratch. (unless they really want to!)

Yes, there are already many custom units, do you mean art or unique.
Art we already have a lot of, although we are not really art guys, so we are looking for someone to help us make them even better.
If you mean unique units, we plan to make each faction almost entirely unique, with diffrent strengths and weaknesses, once we get this version stable (if we can find and fix these intermittent bugs) we will begin the faction specific content, developing oone faction at a time from the ground up.

Reminds me of the platform that came out a few years back which was using chinese legends and art styles and you impacted you Characters environment with special 'painting spells' that achieved various benefits or opened pathways etc.

Hi guys what about a system similar to the Sims(particulary the Sims 2 desert Island stories or something like that) basically it would be close to a combination of the two ideas you have, in the sims game you collect resources, and then depending on what resources you have or your skill level (i think) it allowed you to build diffent types of wall or object, then you build your shelter one wall piece at a time, the more skill and resources you have the stronger the type of shelter you could build and the less time you would need to spend repairing it from storm damage etc. you can also have prefab style buildings that you placed as a completed structure when you had gathered enough resources.

I think this would be good as it gives you an RTS view which is good for being able to see the space you have and where to place your walls etc. which is often difficult and a bit fiddley in FP. So you get the freedom to be creative with the ease of control of being able to see your plan.

Alternatively you could have some kind of 'Blueprint' screen, where you take an area of the land, put it done on paper than plan out your stucture in a 2D or 3D plan (whatever planning system you felt worked best) choosing the types of material etc. and it keeps a running total of the resource requirements, then when you are done planning you gather the resources and place it down RTS style as the finished building, perhaps with a construction time, which is essentially automated. (either with your character moving around building it or just an X time passes and it's done system)

The game is looking really cool :-)
