So I think we are down to our last task before we are ready for our 'early access' release of A5.

Finishing my first story event.

I have to add in all the code for events to spawn units and buildings, learn how to spawn barbarians from events, and then do some kind of stat check (maybe) for these various units and buildings. (that may or may not happen before I release, as this is mainly to test the concept of the story event, rather than make great events straight out of the gate!)

You guys should come join us over at civfanatics, I am always looking for new helpers of any type/experience/skill and also teach you how to do some of the basic modding of civ. It is really easy, basic word processing is about the level that you need to start.

Ok, just to let everyone know, we think we have caught all the CTD bugs (it is hard to know as there are so many potential nuissances that could have something wrong.

I have built up a bit of a to do list.

I am now in the process of slowly checking off todos for a pre-release level of sortedness.

As in we could do a lot more but at least it is functional and not explosive point.

ight :)

We just got a CTD issue on one of the very last things we added! It was going so swimmingly!?!

Chances are once we get that fixed and I add a couple bits of token xml to show off some of the brand new content, I will make a pre-release.

Also the mod just got it's first piece of SPAM!

We have officially arrived!

I am thinking of releasing an 'Early Access' Alpha5 for anyone who wants it.

This will have a lot of features added that are not in A4.
But will not include a lot of planned content that takes advantage of a lot of the new under the hood code.

These content Additions can then be released as patches of 1-5mb (if that) that will increase the content on the play side.

Would people be interested in that?

Included would be:
New WIP UI (With lots of new control/display features)
Lots of New Art (Leaders, Units, Vault Feature, Green Water! :P)
New Map Scripting (Closer Start Positions, Destroyable Spawn Points for Monsters[Limited])
Working Economy System (Requires Expansion)

And probably other stuff that I haven't thought of yet, or that have only a minor implementation so far.

This way people can be more involved with the development/Implementation of the new content.

Yeah, In A5(Coming Soon) rivers are green (no screenshots of those) and the coasts are green, and that makes the water look a dirty murky colour. (you can see in the Dyn. Traits Pic in the News above.)

It is a bit of a faff, to change, it involves finding and changing 3 or 4 some what obscure files.

and is of minimal impact to the game, purely cosmetic, and water will generally not be that heavily featured and the rivers look a much more 'sludgy' green, like the coastline.

Then all of a sudden a few days ago it appeared in my PM box!

Which was nice :D

Cheers, we are getting ever closer to the next release!

We are almost at the point where all the complicated work in the core code is done, it will then just be a matter of me figuring out how everything works, where everything is, what need to be reapplied in new ways (to restore A4 functionality) and applying it across all the far simpler xml files

the only other trick I can suggest is making a custom shortcut and see if it loads from that.

Make a shortcut of the beyond the sword exe, then right click and select properties and in the shortcut tab where it says Target, put this the mod name at the end like this:
\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod="Fallout-TTW"

Obviously using the current name of the mod.

It might work, it might not..

This has happened to a couple of people in the pst, but I am not sure what the solution is...

You have it in the main installation Beyond the sword mod folder and not My documents?

You run the game as administrator?

The problem is that usually installation mistakes come with an error, when it just doesn't start it is a bit of a problem to figure out why...

Have you tried redownloading just incase something got corrupted?

I can't really think of any other reasons or solutions..

We will be releasing a new version soon that may just solve the problem.

I assume other mods for Civ work for you?

You need to run the game as administrator, this is the standard solution.

A handful of people say the problem persists even after running admin, I don't have an answer to this as I have never had that problem..

The next version of the mod should remove this issue as we have modified the UI code

Glad to hear you are still excited for it, sorry it has been taking me so long to get the next version done.

I just had another PM from the Mega Modder, about stuff that he could probably help me out with and it was just a whole bunch of stuff that could have been pulled from my wishlist!

Including stuff like reducing the overall size of the mod download, and a heap of performance improvements, so I really think the delay will be a blessing in the end!

Yeah, unzipping is usually best to do to the desktop, then move it into program files. It is something to do with windows security settings, it doesn't let things 'change' stuff in program files directly.

Glad you got it to work.

you can also check these files to make sure the mod name matches the file path, it should do unless you have changed it, in which case change it back.

that means that you have not put it in the BTS main folder. folder.

That usually means you have put it in my documents.

Because it has a custom reource folder it has to go in the main installation path, not my documents.

C:\Games\CivIV\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Mods\K-Fallout

Something like that. Although it will be Fallout: Tame the waste, not k-fallout, that is my test build name.

are you running the game as administrator? right click on your shortcut or the .exe to do it.

are you running the steam version?

and you are putting it inside the mods folder in bts install path, and not my documents?

I can't think of any other reason why it would crash...
