Sadly no. This mod requires Ep2 to be installed (and it needs to have been run at least once)

Model packs off garrysmod.org will not work. Only a real copy of Ep2 will work. Ep2 is really cheap anyways. £5.99.

Remake is the prologue on NH2 so you don't need to download remake. Anyway, the remake is broken becuase of the sdk update. In NH2 it's fixed.

For those who are giving low rating because there is no download on ModDB, it's not our fault, ModDB hasn't yet aproved it. For now you can download from: Nh2.wecreatestuff.com

He wants you to put some solid work into the mod and make a good amount of progress before wasting your time with a moddb profile. Only make a profile when you have something to show, if all you have is 3 half-complete vmf's from a beginner mapper and no screenshots then I don't think you have enough progress to justify a moddb profile. The chances are you'll grow bored, move on and this mod will be dead in a month, sad as it is, that's the truth.

I disagree with that, I felt there was no clear direction of travel and found myself going in circles working out which doors led somewhere and which didn't. Do you remember the L4D1 commentary? They tried multiple paths but it wasn't fun, there's a good reason why HL and HL2 are so linear.

I agree that houndeyes took too much ammo, I found myself running from them looking for more ammo. Gameplay trumps realism, don't sacrifice fun to be realistic.

Relax, if you want the mod to get better you need to take onboard constructive criticism. If you're just going to get offended and complain that I'm being too harsh or something because it's a "Demo Version 1.0" then the quality of the mod will not improve.

When I give constructive criticism it is so you can identify any faults in the mod and work towards fixing them. As the mapper it is very hard to have a good idea of how fun a map is to play without having someone play it and watching what they do.

Also, demo's are usually for hyping up a mod, gaining interest in it, but the demo is supposed to reflect on the quality of the finished product. If you're saying that because it's a demo, by default it's not as good as the real thing then the whole point of the demo is flawed. If the demo was to satisfy the community's hunger for content then it is in vein. People will always want more, 1 screenshot is not enough, neither will 1 demo be enough.

Also, I saw L4D models in there. You didn't even credit L4D in the credits.

So just take any criticism on board, work on polishing and improving the mod and don't waste time with demos that serve no purpose.

Visually it was okay but the gameplay really wasn't there in my opinion.

There is no clear sense of direction, visuals were far too cluttered and made it hard to work out what to do next. At the start I spent 15 minutes looking for a small doorway that was tucked away in the darkness. Everything else in that area was dragging my attention away from where I should have been headed. You cant assume the player will know where to go next. Also, the combat started far too early, I had barely had time to look at my pistol before being attacked by 4 hound-eyes and then by half a dozen soldiers.

You honestly need to get some good play-testers to frequently test the mod and work on the gameplay first. It may look nice but at the end of the day, if the gameplay isn't fun, neither is the mod.

Releasing a demo for the sake of releasing before another mod is a bad reason for releasing a demo. Demo's are released by publishers so that tentative buyers will have a chance to see how fun the game is to help persuade them to buy it. In the context of modding this is completely pointless and a waste of your efforts. If you wish to release the mod like this then by all means go episodic.

It is true that the source engine is starting to show it's age but fairly obvious recently that valve have noticed this decline and are actively working on improving their engine and hopefully the tools. Alien swarm is proof of this, it's clearly designed solely as a modding base.

I don't see why people try so hard to compete with black mesa. It's not a competition. Mod's need to know their limits and avoid feature creep. The mod I code for has experienced a bit of feature creep but it's mostly delayed because we just weren't satisfied with the quality of it. It's not particularly long (2 hours) but what little there is, we have polished to a mirror shine. Portal was very short but very well polished and that game is amazing.

So for wilsons chronicles, I don't mind if it is delayed but I'd much rather you take your time, don't rush out a release as if it's a race. Make the mod as good as you can. Just don't release a 15 minute demo that you'll look at in 2 years and think, "That's crap compared to the quality of the mod now".

Why would a mod need a demo? It seems really pretentious and arrogant to me. When the mod is finished, release it. Don't release an incomplete version of the mod before it's ready.

I'm not really sure why everyone seems so excited.

I was making a reference to Valve time by creating WCS Time. GMN then took that and made it a referece to MC. Hammer's "Hammer Time"

And yeah, I've got very little left to code.
