That's probably because I didn't feel the details from the sculpt would translate very well to the low poly in the case of the wings. I more or less left them alone but added surface details. The wings will be folded most of the time since they are nonfunctional.
I think the demo will be released through our kickstarter, but I'm not too sure. I imagine we could arrange for you to alpha test for us though. :)
We're working on getting all the models we need for our demo area. First we will be releasing a teaser trailer and then moving onto a crowd funding campaign. Mid December is probably still too soon for the demo. Thank you for your interest!
We're trying our hardest to get the demo map ready, but we may not be done in time. We're planning on having an indiegogo in October, so a lot depends on how much money we raise from that.
