I'm Elijah Houck, creator of Alton, IL, the largest modification for Fallout 3 to date. Alton, IL features a fully voiced population, a large main quest with two story paths, numerous side quests, dozens of new locations to visit, and a fully explorable world twice the size of Point Lookout, completely separate from the Capital Wasteland. I am currently working on Ethas: Embrace of Destiny, a mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, alongside Justin Hardin. Embrace of Destiny is a mod many times more ambitious than Alton, with a world rivaling the size of even Skyrim itself.

What can I say, the citizens of Valeria must keep up with their chores!

But thanks for the feedback, some more cluttering might be in order.

We can't say just yet. But do keep in mind that projects of this size take time. :)

I'm not too sure we deserve more credit than Bethesda, but we're certainly trying our hardest to create a world you'll love to explore!

Like I said below, shoot us an email with voice acting in the subject, that way we can more easily reach you later. If you have samples, send those along with the email.

I actually used that mod during my last Skyrim playthrough. Rilekarth will get significantly more populated as we continue to flesh out the city. This was a pretty early screenshot. ;)

Nice! I always love hearing stories from people from the area, let alone from the same school. It makes the world feel a bit smaller. And that's exactly why I decided to spend so much time on Alton - those big "what would happen if..." questions are something we all think about, but being able to actually create my idea of what would happen in a post-apocalyptic scenario was a lot of fun.

But definitely, we're in no hurry to release Ethas - we are all prepared to spend as much time as needed to make sure it turns out just right. :)

1) The map is about the same size as Skyrim's.

2) Yep, since we're telling a story that is completely separate from TES lore, all of the factions and NPC's are new. Plenty of new and unique loot to come as well.

3) Yep, you'll be able to bring loot between the two worlds.

4) It all depends on how the overhauls work. While I doubt any of the larger overhauls will cause any problems with Ethas, I can't say for certain whether they'll work 100% while you're in Ethas. We'll have more on compatibility closer to release, but we are working diligently to make sure that there are no compatibility problems between Ethas and other mods.

Believe me, we know how to design worlds and dungeons, I'm simply wishing to expand our team to speed things up a bit. I prefer not to use dungeon generators, nor do I like drawing a dungeon out beforehand; I prefer it be created more organically.

The next major piece of news will come out this summer (after all, if we show stuff off too often, we'll end up spoiling the fun of discovery). I'm sure we'll have some smaller things in-between, however. :)

Glad you like it too! It's actually from a resource released by zTree, who has created a few of our trees and is currently working on a tileset for one of our cities.

Ah, yes. The area to the far right of the image actually peeks into an unifinished part of the wasteland, which is why it looks pretty bare and the ground texture repeats. (the ruin's exterior was actually finished the day of the shot)

Indeed. While implementing a crowd is certainly possible on higher end machines, we've got to consider the lower end ones as well. Hopefully in the future, Bethesda increases performance with large amounts of Actors on screen.

Also, take a look at the Hearthlake shot. Three different leaf textures in that shot all with varying greens, with more to come in different areas as we get new trees.

Kevin is right. It's a volcanic wasteland, you can't expect a wasteland like this to be full of life and activity.

This is one small area of Ethas, so believe me, it gets a looot more varied than this. A different area of Ethas, the Heartland (which we previously posted a screenshot of, but that area has since been overhauled), is full of trees with beautiful reds, yellows, and oranges.
