I'm Elijah Houck, creator of Alton, IL, the largest modification for Fallout 3 to date. Alton, IL features a fully voiced population, a large main quest with two story paths, numerous side quests, dozens of new locations to visit, and a fully explorable world twice the size of Point Lookout, completely separate from the Capital Wasteland. I am currently working on Ethas: Embrace of Destiny, a mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, alongside Justin Hardin. Embrace of Destiny is a mod many times more ambitious than Alton, with a world rivaling the size of even Skyrim itself.

We were poised to release it today, and then earlier today the Creation Kit did this to our .esm: Dl.dropboxusercontent.com

It flattened a third of the land in Ethas, essentially making that .esm worthless. Luckily we had a backup, but I lost around 12 hours or so of work, so I've been playing catch up since then.

We were all excited to release the video today, but unfortunately the Creation Kit decided not to let us do so. Video will be absolutely coming tomorrow, though! :)

Hi Trent! Glad to have you aboard our stellar cast of voice actors, the lines you sent over tonight blew Justin and I away. Glad you're excited!

I'm sure you'll be able to tell in our screenshots that we have many (thousands) of custom assets. ;)

There's really only one area that is similar to Skyrim, and that is the Western Reach, a mountain range that hugs the northwestern coast of the country of Arelia. Besides that, we have sweeping valleys, dense forests, hilly prairies, an ashy wasteland, and more that we have yet to reveal.

As far as enemies go, of course! We have many different human factions that you'll be facing off against (or perhaps joining), and we have implemented several custom creatures, with more to come in the future. Ethas, while retaining Skyrim's core gameplay mechanics, will be a very different experience than Skyrim.

Sure, but everybody has just as much ability to get their news story on the front page, right? So at that point, as long as everybody that is interested in participating in the competition posts articles, everybody has an equal chance of getting spotted by the person you're describing. After that, it all comes down to who has the most impressive mod.

As someone who is helping lead the team that is in the process of producing one of the larger Skyrim mods in active development (as is Kevinsaer), I disagree. Our ModDB page is our home base, and is by far the best way to get your content out there to a large audience. The NexusMods and Bethesda forums result in threads getting quickly buried, whereas the articles that get pushed to the front page of ModDB drive a lot of traffic to our project.

While Skyrim Nexus is certainly a great place for released mods, I personally believe that ModDB is the best way to promote a work in progress Skyrim mod, and I would bet that the guys and gals over at SureAI would probably agree.

Feel free to send us an email (ethasproject@gmail.com) with "Voice Acting" somewhere in the subject line. If you have samples, send those along too! We aren't in the recording stage for most characters, but if we're interested when we start ramping up recording, we'll have that email handy so we can contact you.

Thank you. That's part of the reason we've kept our team small, we all get to know each other quite well, which makes for a much better development experience.

Hearthfire is not included, but Dawnguard and Dragonborn are. Both have fantastic resources that we will be using in certain areas. If you don't have them already, you've got plenty of time to save up or wait for a sale. ;)

Of course not! We love showing everyone what we're working on, but we don't want to have shown off everything by the time we release. Sometimes that means a few months of radio silence, but we're always hard at work.

This is a large project, and as a result, this isn't a project that you can expect to be done soon. We definitely don't want to release it in parts, nor rush it out the door.
