Couple of notes for the uninitiated.
This is very similar to what the military wears in Iraq...which is a desert environment. Its better to be hot than have a sucking chest wound.
The model reminds you of graw because both are fairly authentic in portraying modern/near future military. The flak vest and camelpack is probably the biggest example of this. The guy is wearing a newer vest which is similar to what they put on the GRAW models. Makes sense.
The chest packs carry ammo and thus are necessary. Would you rather look fat? Or have no ammo? Granted he is holding a shotgun and those packs are clearly designed to hold rifle mags.
The acupat I have to assume was the closest modern digi pattern they found that mirrored the urban camo from the original game.
Crits:
He does look a little topheavy, and that may be because of his leg proportions as was suggested.
No cargo pockets?
He needs a belt with a vertical loop to hold up his drop holster (sidearm), especially if he's only using one horizontal strap. The belt would go over the blouse and under the flak vest and we should be able to see a bit of it, and the vertical strap leading down to the holster.
No zipties? I guess they are there to kill and not capture, I just thought it might be a cool touch.
Overall, a really great model, truly captures and updated version of the grunts from the original Half-Life. Can't wait to see the red-bereted sarge hehe.
