I code stuff!
Ah right I remember that.
So there, the one game bundle.
What's next a game bundle with only sounds tracks and dlc but no games?
Afaik Overgrowth and NS2 once did a bundle. That was 2 indie games in a bundle, so not yet :P The one game bundle has yet to be invented though xD
I see the mod changed it's name to Modular Comabt, what an interesting development ;)
Played this yesterday, first impressions: Very smooth, with interesting gameplay and nice level design.
Only bad thing I noticed was the inventory key was on Enter, a terribly unconvenient key guys, TAB or I would make more sense, the shop was a bit vague as well, but this seems like it'll be a great game :)
Seriously WHAT THE HELL ModDB, it keeps posting my reply to the post 3 posts down to what I try to reply to>.<
@rellik_pt: Aye, I released an update to my mod a year ago during steams summer sale... not a good idea D:
Reply fail D:
It should I believe, you may wanna try and contact someone involved with Desura, from what I know of the ModDB/IndieDB/Desura people is that they're generally quite nice :)
Played the demo today, loved it, really like how it tries not to be your usual RPG and does some cool stuff like dragging energy around to perform tasks.
Bought it on Desura :)
it looks more like a walk sign to me, it's warning you not to make any sudden movements or the hypnomickey will strike!
Sauce and Pepper
I'm starting to get worried, stop worrying about non relevant sound details and focus on the gameplay, please.
It's cool that you're spending time doing it, but in the end, it's worthless if the game will suck and I'd rather see posts about what you will be doing to make the gameplay great, rather than anything you're doing to make it more like a movie and less like what the hell it is. A freaking game, stop doing what all the big AAA publishers do PLEASE, you claim to be Indie AAA and you seem to be heading down the same path, I personally am deeply worried for what will happen to Insterstellar Marines if this goes on.
I fear it will become just another fancy AAA game, indistinguishable from other titles anymore, because it takes graphics and other "realism" over gameplay.
This is just my opinion as a worried Spearhead :)
Yeah, it seems nice, but I can see the difference from advanced physics... the physics objects don't interact with each other, perhaps he still needs to do that, but it's an important part of physics interaction.
Secondly, no I won't excuse his language for that reason, english is not my first language either, that doesn't mean I'm raping it up this badly.(I find it really hard to believe someone can misspell Axis into Achsis unless they were just randomly hitting letters, if they are really someone that works with physics, he must have seen that word written properly somewhere o.0)
I would however excuse his language if it's not in his interest to learn it, while it's an important language, I know I don't want to learn stuff properly just because people think I should, I knew what words he was using/trying to use, though I still don't quite get...
How the hell does it work? And why did you make this a tutorial, when:
A. It's not a tutorial... he just tells some things and shows it, but doesn't go into detail how it works, making it useless.
B. You didn't make it, nor explain it so it becomes a tutorial.
Sorry for the heavy critique here, but if I'd still be writing mod news post, I know it'd be ****** if an useless article is popping my article off the front page, so please, turn it into something useful, or get it gone from the front page, for the sake for the mod developers that could use the attention.
Paths need to be rebuilt!
That and rapping.
Is it just me or did Overgrowth get almost zip showing time on this video, it actually seems to cut out when things start getting interesting.
Just something that I noticed, was watching the video... overgrowth came up... then suddenly it was gone! I felt like I had a blackout or something, rewinded and checked again...
Anyway congrats to all the developers, cool to see Interstellar Marines on here as well I think it deserves some attention, their attention to the weapon feel is something I've not seen in any of the games I've played although I far from played all games there are to play :)
Grats Vino, seems RockPaperShotgun caught wind of it as well: Rockpapershotgun.com
Woah, this evolved quite nicely since I first saw it, great job!
Any bugs in Empires can be justified in favor of it being a "free" mod, being made in people's spare time for fun.
Judging by this (early) trailer, Nuclear Dawn ain't exactly bug free either(but that can be fixed) and they didn't really show much of the rts gameplay, so saying the fps/rts mix will be better executed is baseless, but could be true... or not.
The thing is, Empires does this already as a free Source mod, why pay for a similar Source mod gone commercial?
Sure there may be differences, but from what they've shown in the trailer, nothing spectacular or interesting twist that'd fancy me, maybe Empires fans will like this is as another hybrid of the sorts they like, but if I feel the need to play such a type of game, I'd grab some buddies and fire up Empires instead.
Like spooboy said, it's a seperate SDK, namely the Alien Swarm SDK, current mods can't really port over to it, so SourceMods are not "standalone", only the Alien Swarm mods will be.
If I came on at night, my reactions would be even more insane :P
Not every TC starts off a TC though.(Jailbreak is the first to come to mind, it started as a simple hl2mp mod, it did have a "restart" when 0.5 went bad... so maybe...)
Anyway downloading the SDK before even bothering with the game :P
And eventually co-op battles... and new manhack model/altered behaviour... and who knows what :P
You win a cookie, claim it at Bekey's land.
Just a quick headsup:
Website is live!
Concering weapon/player models... we've got something brewing :P
Check this out:
That driveway must be pretty high up then :P
If you call that bashing, you haven't seen real bashing...
He's never said anything about it not being up to his standards that I saw, maybe I missed something, if not, stop putting words in other people's mouths.
Maybe DigiTanks isn't that original either, but coming up with something completely new experience is nigh immposible these days, with most of the major and sub-genre's already being thought out. It does have some elements making it stand out from other games similar to it and that's what's important.
DigiTanks at least doesn't take the approach of taking a succesfull recipe and just that over again. I'm not saying L4Q is, since I haven't been following it, but there's plenty of games that do that **** and DigiTanks isn't one of them.
:D wall of shame!
I'm not sure I'm too thrilled with a guy and a cat talking about me that way...
DuckSauce has a new toy... and BerZerk knows all about it :P
Oh god Bekey, what have you done! Front page stuff o.0
Haha, at first I didn't realize that it was a Light vs Dark contrast, it just blends so well! Very nice.
Reinstalled and after playing alone on a server for an hour finally some people showed up, ended up with a fair few players, was fun.
Though most of them had to suffer lagg just to be on a populated server, hope that indie bundle will breng in more european players for me to play with :D
Nice article, gonna read the 2nd item on the list when I'm back from showering.
For the first item, also worth considering what's NOT fun, to define what is fun, assuming you aren't handling it in part 2/2
Example: Mass Effect 1's inventory system, was not fun. Why: It dumped tens or sometimes hundreds of useless crap in it that you had to slowly delete for an useless reward. In short, it's not fun because it feels like "work" repeatedly doing something boring because it has to be done.
Example 2: An old game called NoX I recently played, I played through it with warrior first, then second playthrough wanted to go for a mage, the game does hussle up the starting point a lot, but... then I got to a point that was likely going to be exactly the same and was painfuly long. I stopped playing since then and haven't touched it in these past weeks.
Again an example of what feels like "work", stuff you're forced to do in games that's either long or repetitive. Fun could still be there in the second example, but it was a big and slightly annoying level on the first playthrough, even if parts were fun, you'd have to through boring parts first and the sheer lenght of it would wear you out.
Something that is fun arises from that, in specific change can be good, being stuck playing the same map for hours on end wears you out, change is good to keep the playing experience fresh and thus the game fun.
Potentially to be applied on Digitanks: Don't make one standard level and let destroying it provide the "dynamic" experience. Make different levels with certain challenges, like high mountains blocking shots so you have shoot through the peaks for example, water blocking movement and stuff like that.
oh man... awesome!
From the ModDB TV Group:
"To enter all you need to do is make sure you release your game or a decent update (so guys don't be skimping on the content!), and make sure it gets onto the Mod DB front page (for more info on how to make sure your news gets there click this link), its that simple!"
Paint unhappy smiley faces on the cardboard boxes.
In seriousness though, does look pretty depressing, it could use huge stacks of books and paperwork on the desks.
Nothing wrong with it then.
The world is a tough place, I just prefer to play it nice, you don't.
You're free to do what you want.
I'll shut up now, good luck with the project I guess.
You'll never be a professional with that attitude, customer friendliness man! Though if you won't wanna be one, who's there to stop you from not being so friendly.
Just played it, movement system definitely needs work, but you got the core of the game down very well, great work!
You may wanna add the video and some extra images in this newspost, then maybe the ModDB staff will put it on the rotator for some extra attention.
Seriously, if you wanna grab even more attention for this game, just talk to the ModDB staff for some tips :) They're very helpfull people.
Nope not for actually playing the mod.
Chat and other non play related are an exception ofcourse.
:D though so. Since it's australian it lagged very badly for me, but other then that it worked fine!
Thanks for providing servers everyone :D
Normal balls, previously they were white, now they're red!
it currently takes 2 hits to kill someone from full health, honestly not for long :) might be more hits if the mines were charged too long before hitting the player(damage becomes less over time) and they had a chance to regenerate a bit of health(there's VERY slow health regen, it's just a little thing you don't have to worry about that can safe your life occasionally but is too slow to avoid getting killed by simply fleeing)
Hmmm tough one.
Btw didn't the Naruto mod already release?
It released in 2010, but still it seems weird, even if it was a 2009 upcoming mod :)
Anyway I'm personally not too interested in any of these though they all look great mod, Nauz is working on Zeitgeist though so I'll be rooting for that one.
Oh Rabbot finnally made the change to a Rabbit eh? :D
Keep up the good work guys!
Looks interesting, good luck with this!
That's mostly up to the mappers, lots of open space is a must in any map though. The updated version of the map shown in the video has a big cylinder in the middle and 2 "blocks" on the sides of the map that break up your glides against the walls.
Photoshopped I say!
Decadence was very intesting, too bad it wasn't so popular, the 2v2 worked quite well, but that also seemed to reason people didn't like it. Get stuck with someone that doesn't work well with you and it just turns into a slaughterhouse for you and that person, without such issues gameplay could be great with you and your teammate trying to outsmart the enemy team.
That looks crazy!
So what's the point of earning points then anyway? Points are a reward for what? Playing the game properly? That's the only thing I see for it.
Dystopia system in my opinion could work just as well, give a set amount of points to spend on perks each player will then be even and still have the same amount of customization. But I believe you're content locked and all so this isn't gonna be changed anyway.
So I just wasted about a hundred words on the internet, wouldn't be the first time either :(
Still, what are the reasonings for the current system? Would love to know at least that :P
lol indeed, would have been much cooler if they shown the conveyor belt in action if they had the fixed version, or simply show something more interesting(maybe sniping boxes on the roof would have been more exciting :P)
It's quite nice :D
This also reminded me what that "other" indie game was that I wanted to vote for :P
Thought the same, looking forward what wins this year's mod of the year.
I'm willing to bet Research&Development is gonna get a fairly high spot at the very least.
My hopes are for Jailbreak:Source winning even though 0.6 hasn't released... if it were released it would have a high chance imo, either way one of my votes goes to Jailbreak:Source!
Dude, they should totally have put that in the trailer :D
Make it look like just another WW2 shooter, then introduce those dino's!
And HOLY AWESOMESAUCE, boxing with a t-rex? Must try this later today! :D
does he have a ... flashlight stuck in his mouth?
Oh my god, busted!
I had been wondering what this mod was up to :P
yeah I thought the 1/3rd was a bit strange.. hehe
Woo winston, interesting stuff there :D
Rumors are the ball is now going to be a piggy bank instead of a ball.. well I suppose it's still partially round
Good to hear it's coming soon :D
And yay for immediate link, not FilePlanet this time I hope...
Lawl I'm on there playing LemmingBallZ haha!
I think it's a great article, they take a very non-official style which suits them as they're doing very unordinary things, being all official about being unordinary is just ... weird.
So in this way I think the articles is well written.
Btw this game really needs a abbreviation... lmao!
yeah that's what I have wanted too, but no idea how to do such a effect though...
Wut you didn't know? All geniuses are lazy Alt!(kidding)
wow I remember making this, it was such a drag now and then LOL
but some great moments like the guy randomly rocketing himself away.
man good old times!
man looking awesome and nice to see an added gamemode too!
keep up the great job!
do you mean the sprinting? I tend to conserve sprinting whenever I need it, so it's going on/off/on/off now and then.
Might be getting rid of it completely or replacing with a less obnoxious sound.
looks great and reminds me of battlezone :D
gawd people stop giving negative karma to this guy, this was a good post.
give karma according to what he posts not wheter you like him or not.
anyway Zeno Clash looks awesome so I would think that will win:D, also known infinity for a long time, but not that much into mmo games, bad connection doesn't make things better either :D
but infinity also looks great, but zeno's style is much more original which is why I think it will win.
Well played it... and completed it in 5 minutes or so :P
very short, it was also easy yeah, but nice concept, this could turn into something great one day.
yeah soulfather is great, I actually have to slow him down lol, he's making too many maps in my opinion, considering grenades and gamemode stuff is nearing completion that means he'll soon have to make sure they're all properly updated and balanced + I don't want to have a gazzilion maps, I'd like to keep the amount of maps down to a few, at least for first release and make sure they're all awesome and balanced:)
Already voted for this and some other mods some time ago, something I'm really interested in :D
also joined that group, I'm a mod developer myself though and I may be in a different timezone so I'm not the most ideal person for testing :)
where do you see a pink one ò_Ó
Only watched the trailer so far, it looked SUPERB.
Will check out the rest of the newspost tommorow(if I don't forget)
dunno I hope it can.. it's just fanart though guys.
Not made by the devs. Read the description
yeah it is gonna explode on contact when it's done so don't worry ;)
it's part of the reason we picked a melon for this type of grenade as well.
Frontpaged this time :D
Remember, ModDB staff <3's pictures!
Oh and mentioned :D I'm so happy!
And, Alyx mode sounds interesting, looking forward to trying that.
/me whacks danboe with a hammer
The map is just needing a few more gameplay tweaks, then it should be ready.
During todays playtests I had a devilish idea, I spawned some of the manhacks in hz_laserblender... it was brutal xD
Actually they do :O
My grandmother does not want to play this, so she doesn't exist, therefore my mother also does not exist and therefore I don't exist, nor do my sisters and some other family.
You killed part of my family tree! :P
There you go!
Expect a new map update soon, hz_dizzy coming up :P
as I figured then, it's all this damn hype around it without anyone checking the facts, also thought it was strange there was no new download I was expecting the least would be needed is for a template(non hl2/hl2mp) mod to build it with the new codebase and release that...
Well that clears up my confusion then.
Wait, what, I'm so totally confused now.
I've seen you saying needing Source SDK... and also saying you need Source SDK Base(which all mods needed in the past that weren't mounting hl2/hl2mp/etc instead)
But Alien Swarm released the Alien Swarm SDK a seperate Source SDK as you will, so which is it people actually need... Source SDK, Source SDK Base(MUCH smaller than full SDK) or Alien Swarm SDK?
Is there anyone that doesn't have any Source game that can actually confirm this works btw? Mighty curious that this actually works and could be done so quickly, cause that's great news if that works(means more mods can do it! yay!)
My first mod experience with it...
Making the SDK separate clears the way for it being absolutely free to *everyone*, without it granting access to existing 2006/2007 Source mods (which mount HL2 content) too. I'm betting that the AS SDK won't have the normal shared engine content we're used to from SDK Base, just like UDK only has a subset of UT3's.
You don't win a cookie.
The reason I'm heading this way could be translated into: Modular Combat has co-op, humans versus npcs, so what is this gonna be? Co-op.
Manhacks are a natural choice for being a flying enemy, with physics and stuff to go with it.
So you could read it as: After playing modular combat I got inspired to make a co-op mode for GN as well.
Does that clarify it good sir?
Nice, release Monday 19th apparently: Store.steampowered.com
Maybe this confused him:
"this July 14th will mark the one year anniversary of our first build, making it the perfect date for our first public release."
Uhm, you shouldn't need to install anything but Source SDK Base and Source SDK Base 2007.
What did you download?
Not thinking, we have a plan for it :P
But currently GMN (modeller and mapper) has a bunch of other stuff to do as well, so it's pretty much a "when it's done" thing.(it will first require a new player model, no small task)
Further intel, seems the armor regen buggers my armor amount, it stops regen at 37 and it resets it to 37 after using a recharger and going over that. The battery packages however don't cause this reset either.
I've also noticed an extreme annoying push from teammates, resulting in being unable to sprint properly if they're in front of you(they push you back), why not simply dissalow team mates to collide complete and remove the push. Would have been easier to code too :P
Dev textures, yummy :D
I really like this approach, no time spent into visuals that can be hard to alter for gameplay changes, making for a highly gameplay oriented approach.
That's really the way to do it, keep it up guys!
Seems I can't go over 37 armor to be exact when my max armor is 50.
Additonaly, swapping to a 0 in the clip 10 ammo reserve SMG due to the ammo regen when I'm clubbing someone/something can be really annoying, there seems to be no way to turn this auto swap off. Would be nice if that could be disabled in a future version.
there is, plus 3 more files, I guess the authorizer went off for food mid-authing :P
Awesome stuff, first time I really got to play this, was alot of fun :D
I chose my suit to have 50 armor max though and when using the suit rechargers they would reset it to ~35 and start charging me again, never reaching 50 and the mega charger could charge me to 50(overcharge of 50 or oversight?)
All in all, great mod, keep on updating it!
I loved this back in the day, sadly it's 2vs2 had some flaws(griefers/afkers mostly) but that can be worked out, glad to see you're back in action!
Yeah this mod is the exact opposite, SB(Super Badass!)
Had a ton of fun with this :D
Voted Awesome-Sauce, cause Sauce is awesome, and I'm a Sauce, so that means I'm awesome and that means ModDB is awesome, because everytime I log in a Bekey dies and the ModDB's Awesome-Sauce-o-Meter starts rising further off the charts of awesome.
Yeah bekey linked me to it yesterday.
You guys earned it, keep it up!
Your header is an advertisement, shame on you!
Also when do you have time to hook up... bitch!
I got laughed at by a duck yesterday, it sounded funny.
Saw two of em do a waterdive too, they like splashing things up it seems :D
So hell yeah they're awesome :P
wasn't one when you posted, but I've made one here on ModDB now, it's simple but will help keep suggestions and idea's organized
