ModDB Moty is for mods and indies, not for non-indies.
And yes, 2 of the mods are Source, 2 of them are UT and 1 of them is an indie. Your point is? Last year a Battlefield 2 mod won at two different categories, the way I see it, they're not biased at all, but I could be wrong, feel free to show me mods on other engines with original art directions.
Editor is best, Players Choice is just a popularity contest of who can co-erce the most people to vote for them.
Just click for that vote button then, there's no other way, if the mod is unreleased it will simply become a canditate for best unreleased regardless of what the button calls it.

but that raises the question, will ModDB become considered the place where those sloppy/rushed mods reside and people will visit Desura only from then on, or will there be enough reason for people to keep on coming to ModDB?
Also cool&popular, I doubt it will be like that, more like everything that has effort put into it will be allowed, rather than just the mods that happened to have garnered some popularity somehow. At least that's how I see how ModDB has done things, as long as people put effort into their work and don't make sloppy newsposts then they will be featured on the main page(and for releases even the rotator).

I wonder though, even if the map pack can qualify as a mod, didn't left 4 dead come out late 2008, therefore disqualifying this to be even part of 2008 best mods?
apperently it's been development before left4dead, but that's besides the point, then it was different, now it's a left 4 dead "mod"(not rly) and that started late 2008... soooo sup?

that's a nice idea but I doubt I'm going to work on anything that sticks on players anytime soon... even stickybombs in tf2 don't stick on people! so I dunno how to do it:P
there's gonna be wind push and wind lift grenades
wind push as it sounds like pushes objects away(including players)
wind lift propels them upwards, the map outpost already has an opening in the ceiling somewhere for super grenade placement, you will only be able to reach it by using the wind lift grenade
additionaly there MIGHT be a contact wind push grenades that can only push small objects, but since it explodes immediatly it can serve as a defense against grenades to quickly launch all grenades nearby away from you.
current holy hand grenade is based on it, is that not good enough? :P
the popsicle is a nice idea but I don't think any idea of those idea's will be implemented, at least not in the first release ^^

in the mod I already have them exploding on contact.. YUM! Took a while to but got help from another coder :)
I like this idea but I already asked Nauz to instead just move the start of the idle farther back so the idle doesn't constantly start after a grenade is down.(you'd to get to see the pervy carresing WAY to much :P)
But maybe Nauz can try your suggestion as well, that's up to him though.
haha yeah then maybe the mod isn't for you but on the other hand if all you have is grenades then they ARE fair game :P
Yeah I have some stuff thought up
first I will be finishing the 3 first grenades though, the skull grenade IS like the half life 2 grenade, the melon grenade will be more like a very weak and small explosive radius contact grenade without a timer.
like Nauz said alot is gonna be custom in the first release already unlike some other mods I know.
The only few things that aren't custom is the basic game mechanics(movement and physics interaction) and the gamemodes will be deathmatch and team deathmatch, but for later releases there's gonna be more gamemodes as well.
yeah like Nauz said idea already came to mind, personally I think the noce piercing is funnier and that was an idea by Nauz.
It's up to him though if he wants to add a jaw or not.
that would be up to Nauz our modeller I don't think he'd be up for that though, believe he said he prefers to do the models and animations himself. He'll probably reply here when he sees this comment.

though im thinking of more then one cluster grenade so maybe we'll do the banana's .. maybe not, and alt... stop giving orders to my slave!
glad you like it, as for the holy hand grenade, we're not entirerly sure yet what it will do, most likely it will be spreading some sort of holy gas like holyness that disapears quickly but vaporises anyone who's inside immediatly.

it's part of the reason we picked a melon for this type of grenade as well.
hmm maybe, but probably not. It's actually more like an actual grenade with the shape of a melon and painted like a melon so it doesnt actually have melon.. fruit inside of it but only explosives.
there's already gona be a white glow on it when thrown, about that same glow being on it when it's not yet thrown... well I have to talk with Nauz about that(the modeller) and do some testing on code myself to see if that can work.
