Meh, I can't get into hip hop at all.
1980s just had better percussion and bass. Maybe some of the artists who like to take so much symbolism and trends from the 80s, should try following some cues from the geniuses before them.
Modern tracks for me are slamming doors, air being sucked out of the room, and the bass on hip hop is like a plain 20 hz frequency being played at 0 DB.
I can't expect much from hip hop, because the sound of hip hop for the last 10 years was born in the 90s, not 80s.
80s hip hop is a bygone sound, and totally different.
