It really just depends. For me, it's just whatever the project needs. If we want to do something that no one on the team can do, then we have to get another member that can.

It's alright guys. As much as I'd love to be on ModDB 24/7, we users need outages every now and then so we can do other things like sleep, eat, and go to the bathroom.

Yeah I usually go Tech with the Tesla Cannon / PDW / Electric Armor combo unless we need a turret. Occasionally I'll be medic for the last 2 maps if we need extra infestation healing.

I must say... This is the most fun "shell" of a game I've ever played. It's about time I found something to pull my attention away from L4D1 and 2. I've tried every weapon and my favorite has to be the Tesla Cannon.

That one little symbol certainly does make everything seem so official now. I'd say that it makes it seem professional too, but I don't think anything can make your work look more professional.
I sure hope you don't mean that the actual games were disappointing... I can't speak for Red Orchestra (never played it), but Killing Floor is an incredibly fun game. It's one of those games that you can just drop in any time and play a quick game, or spend an entire night until the crack of dawn playing. It's even got a strong community, plus who doesn't like killing super-powered zombies with machine guns and flamethrowers?

Both ModDB and IndieDB are great, but seeing as ModDB does everything that IndieDB does, I'll stick with ModDB.
That's how I've always viewed this mod. This is already just about as polished (in terms of gameplay) as HL2 Wars and getting close to Zombie Master. If it's that close now, think of what the end result will be!

This mod is still in development too. Why would they be worrying so much about not-so-useful NPCs right now when they are busy developing the gameplay, gfx, etc? Things like villagers and animals in the maps are really just a luxury item at this point. Not trying to bash you or anything. I think that sort of stuff is a good idea too, but it's just not necessary at this point.
I like that you aren't just doing a carbon copy of these maps with updated graphics. You're actually IMPROVING the core parts of the maps.
HELL YEAH. Out of Hell is one of my favorite mods of all time. Looking forward to seeing more of this game.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the DOF in the reload. It's looking pretty sweet. Only thing, there should be a button to bring up the HUD without reloading or anything. You know, to check you current ammo and health and whatnot. I couldn't tell by the vid if you already had something like that implemented or not.

I really hate this new moddb downloading system. I click download now and a little overlay pops up and just says: "Your download..." and a close button. I wait for a minute, but no download starts. Then after I click the close button still nothing happens.

i'm not a mac fan at all, but indie devs supporting mac/linux is a great thing (for devs and consumers alike).
read about this on ign. looks insane. i loved the ut mod, but i could never find any servers. hopefully this will be better in that respect (not that the devs could help the fact that there were few servers).

wow... that open cave area is a great setting. the wideness of the cave works so well in your map. i agree with metatronstar, the water looks almost as if its flowing to somewhere, but in the map there is no noticeable river.
also, the clashing blue and red lighting takes away from the realism and authenticity of the map. if you use colors like that, there should be a reason. im not saying you dont have a reason, just saying that i didn't see a reason.
oh jesus... please replace the walking sounds. every time i hear that sound i think of generic ****** mods. it looks great but that walking sound just really bugs me.

well, i replied to your email. we should talk about this through email so we dont fill up the comments with this kinda stuff. oh, and i changed my rating to a 9. i rated 8 because i thought you just didnt put the checkpoints in at all. its different when you at least put forth effort and they just happened to not work ;)
yes i actually died.... about 5 times, and each time it took me right back to the part right after the brightness adjustment thing. i died once from falling from a high distance near the beginning (i was just being dumb). then, i died of drowning 3 times: once when trying to get to the first gfg and the other two were trying to escape from the second gfg. then i died shortly after the first time you see the weird gravity bubbles in the fires. were the checkpoints something built into the unreal engine, or were they custom made?
ok... this post has possible spoilers.... dont read if you haven't played yet.
whew. i was sweating the whole way through. not because there are enemies, but because i was so scared to die, because there are no checkpoints, and when you start back at the beginning, you cant get past key areas so you have to go to the main menu and start again.
but, i must say, the puzzles were all fantastic. i was scratching my chin more than just a few times. and the voice overs, oh, the voice overs were the best voice overs i have ever heard in a mod. i absolutely loved the little scare parts (those robots scared the **** outta me... twice!) the use of sound and lighting were superb. the effects seemed to fit so well and nothing was overdone. the entire atmosphere fit so well and was all brought together by the excellent gameplay and such. i loved the change of pace from casual outdoors "exploration" to indoors "explosion oh **** get out of the water before i drown!" i must compliment you on the nifty brightness adjustment thing at the beginning.... and ladders?! i don't know what you did to get ladders and climbable objects because i have not been able to find them anywhere in the unreal editor.
one of my favorite parts are: the bubbles! i like to call it bubble surfing. it's quite challenging (at least, for me, it is) but so fun!
another thing i loved was near the beginning when you go up to the display cases and the little voice comes on and tells you about the gfg's (thats what theyre called right?). i actually went and listened to each twice. :D
all in all, i'd have to give this mod an 8/10. it would be a 9/10 but the lack of checkpoints and the fact you have to restart the map if you die is very frustrating. the excellent gameplay, puzzles, environment, lighting, effects, story, events, and sound all make up for it though.
i am very much looking forward to the next installment. i guess i should have listened to that robot ;)

We're working on that stuff. I just decided to do the icon because I've been doing a lot of Photoshop work for the mod and I figured, since I've got photoshop open, I might as well make an icon. I'm not worried about it too much. I just wanted to do a quick icon and see what you thought about it. It took 5 minutes maybe.
We'll keep everyone updated on the story. We don't really want to reveal anything yet.
Theres lots of things that would be cool to do for an icon, but I can't do good photoshop work with only 16x16 pixels to draw in. I've tried making a higher res image and scaling it down but it makes pretty crappy looking. If anyone wants to make one we could have a sort of contest and vote for the best icon. I've allowed the moddb community (that would mean you) to post images here. Feel free to post any icons that you've created. Just try to make them original work.
No, it was just a coincidence. Abaddon is a synonym for Diablo and I liked the look of the Abaddon font and I already had the font installed. :)
