Also saying about skins, a good idea would be to have custom skins, and when a player is using it, the others will download it(when they join in server, or if they are already in the server they will download it when the player will use it). So you can have custom marios

If you mean play LAN, then just open the server(like making it online) and then connect to your Local IP, for example 192.168.2.2. Its not only online, its both LAN and Online. But make sure you have lanmode 1 at the server.cfg file.
