Been playin' since Doom, Quake and all the other FPS's. Got into development with the release of Unreal Tournament (~1999) when I made an unreleased "scanner" model complete with button animations which I imported into the engine. Battlefield 2 hit me really big in around 2007. That led me onto the Battlefieldsingleplayer.com community. Then I discovered GTA and the other sandbox games (more out of interest in the genre than being a huger player of anything other than Battlefield). Then I started going back to my roots. MAME and the classic arcade scene. That's where it originally started for me .. playing with my little brother on arcade games in seaside arcades in the 80's. Still much to learn there in terms of game play - instant fun ! Joystick and two keys to hit very hard. No confusing high concepts, just good 'ol simple fun. There's a lot of development these days that could do with that kind of "just give me the fun" treatment. I also like cheese.

This is great ! This has Victory Music, Monty and story missions ! What more could a man ask for ? One thing. The "Stronghold" story mission (JointOps). Was hard to begin with but just when it got interesting it was over ! After capture of buildings other side of river was given Rangers but it suddenly ended. Bug ? Otherwise brilliant so far :)

Yes, but its dead. Cajun Wolf has had more than enough time to update the forum. His time is up. The entire thing needs to be archived and given a new home. Even a new name that takes it into the field of all games with MP bots for solo or coop play and other types of single player/coop games. Toying with the idea of installing a forum on my site for this.

justforfun1 ... Can you please look at this if you have time ? Would really appreciate it. The Axis AI fails to work in Windows 10 - but does in Windows 8 with identical files. Have verified this issue using tests, please see here - Forum.bkmod.net ... Would love to find a solution to this as it's a hassle for me to boot into win8

But they *DO* build bases which is what they weren't doiing before. The mod author should be thanked for that. As always there will be bugs that will need to be reported. The only other concern I have is with Blitzkrieg itself which has substantially changed in character due to their HUGE changes where they basically had to re-factor the entire mod to make 1 on 1 game play work. This has been a huge change and so far I'm not sure I like it. I thought the whole point with BK was that the Germans ARE more powerful early on due to their ability to produce lots of tanks early on, AKA their "Blitzkrieg" tactics which were winning the war for them in the first few years of the war. But maybe I just need time to get used to its new style.

Not with the AI as in my experience German army does not build base structures and German engineers end up all over the map taking points. The developer has been waiting for finalisation of the beta and official release as a new version before fixing this. There may be other things that need fixing as well but as always its worth waiting for this excellent mod !

Great mod but the improvement part of the mod added a problem of having to press keys twice when using the drone to get them to work.

The improvement part is worth trying but is very much the authors "take" on what things should be (we are warned about this). It's quite severe and makes the game much more difficult. For example removal of the spotting bars that come up as your are being spotted removes a major cue. Often enemies make ZERO sound when creeping up on you. Otherwise I was glad to see someone noticed that this game is worth having around.

Great mod ! Has anyone looked into a fix for the lighting problems when AA is turned off ? I get the flashing screen when moving around and the screen goes into shadow when the camera is at certain angles. I wonder if its got something to do with deferred rendering ? Apparently other Cryengine games have had this problem as well.

Hi Afrika devs. Just wanted to note again this problem I found with the AI for any future fixes. When I started playing with High Resources and all CPU armies on "Expert" the game plays as it used to for me. I'm only guessing, but it seems to me that the engineers building base building is weighted to available resources somewhere ? This is why now (for some reason because I could swear they used to) the engineers just go off and capture CP's when there is a lack of resources. Start the game with high resources and (I checked) they immediately start building base buildings. So using high resources and setting to expert (don't know if expert is strictly required but it seems to help) is a temporary fix for this problem. Cheers !

justforfun1 ... I did a complete removal of COH and all mods, plus a lot of stuff in Mydocs/Games and reinstalled onto the same drive as Windows. This fixed the entire thing. I have had COH installed on another drive with no problem before. Anyway whatever it was, starting from scratch and making sure everything is in default directories fixed the problem.

The only thing I did notice with the AI, and maybe I never noticed this before because my game skills were not so good, is that the Axis engineers go out and capture sectors before building the first Wehrmacht HQ. This makes sense with the British because the engineers have no HQ structures to build and they have to wait for the officer build before they can build infantry squads. But with the Axis they should build the first HQ first just as the Americans do. So a possible AI tweak there. As always thanks for this great mod !

OK. When was the last mod Afrika update ? Because I did not have this problem the last time I played which was a few months ago. My guess is that something changed in the BK mod. I have looked at the log files and there is mention of a missing Lua file in one of the AI log files although it does not say what the Lua file name is.

Tested this again by playing German side and suddenly the AI came to life with the allies. So this is a problem just with Axis ? While playing Allies the Axis just build engineers and that was it as far as I could see.

Hi. Went back for a game today after a long time. I played two of the official Afrika maps (6x with 2 armies either side all AI apart from me, set to hard). The game was insanely easy with the opposition AI failing to capture CP's. Game type was set to base destruction and I won the game in about half an hour ! Blitzkrieg mod plays fine and all files verify using Steam. Maybe the Germans were just feeling lazy ?
