Noooo! I actually don't like this; capping bravo is the mark of a good team. After B, C is a walk in the park, but B is damned tough to get. If you're part of a team that can cap B, either you're on a damned good team, or the other team sucks.

If you're in the mood to learn, brush up on smoothing groups, and consider beveling the edges on the hood.
Also, you might consider learning nurbs modeling (or some other sort of spline or curve-based modeling) and then converting that to polies when you finish.

Turn one or two of the lights off, to make them look broken. Also, you could set one to flicker, making it look like it's about to go out. Oh, and for added creepyness, put a trigger right near that flickering light so that when the player passes the light, it goes completely out.
Of course, there's the standard "add pipes" but you could also add some small holes, cracks or whatnot to the walls.
Just some ideas; can't wait to play! Keep up the fantastic work, man!

Yes, I am modeling the city based off satellite pictures and a few hundred images I have scraped from google, flickr and others.
The "DC" building has been modeled in Blender, but I haven't gotten it into Hammer yet.

I'm not sure where this shot was taken - maybe it's at the apex of a walk cycle - but I'd suggest increasing the rotation constraints on the head.

...since everyone else was jizzing over the screenshot, I thought I'd add some criticism. Please don't take this as anything negative; I just want to see this mod end up the best it could possibly be.

It's not a matter of whether or not the engine can handle it, it's a matter of having six, eight or even ten or twelve items that do the exact same thing, but with a different models.
Frankly, I'd rather play a mod with three well balanced, unique and useful weapons than one with 30.

Try adding a phong exponent to the hand, perhaps?
See if you can decompile the Alyx model from EP2 and check out how they did her skin.
Also look into frensel shader effects.

I've played with these, too, and I can attest that they're actually a bitch to get working correctly. There has to be a 1u gap between the sprite's origin and where the effect is actually coming from, or it won't render at all.

Also, check out the spotlight on the center-left: why is it pointing directly at the bent? If there was some construction and they were working on... patching the concrete or something, I could see it, but from here it just looks... odd.

Eventually I will have animated background maps, but at this point in time, I just want to load the game up as a fast as possible so I can get to testing.
My intention is to show the player, through background maps, how the section of the city they are playing through looked before the attack began.

Looks like a good distance to me.
Think about putting a shotgun - with all it's kick and recoil - against your face while firing it. If SMOD can simulate broken noses, then I'd go along with that idea.

In my defense, this is all in one day's work, including exporting both the city block and metro models from blender to hammer, building brushwork and making that blue dev texture on the metro support beams. I have some placeholder textures ready for the apartment buildings, I just haven't gotten them off this machine and into the map yet.
