Ive heard about converter made for LA, will ask around, since it would be much better and faster than uploading 80gb sdk, which cannot be hosted anywhere. Probably the soc one dies when it tries to unpack the spawn, since we have new version in header + lots of new sections, which could be missing from the tool. They can probably be added manually, but I'm sure I heard somewhere about a converter which was made for LA.

its a new game, and its packed in 4 parts. you need to download all to a dir, open the 1st part in winrar or 7z zip and it will slowly unpack all 4parts. Then run setup, after its done (again, long process) you need to get the 1.3003 patch aswell, and install it on top of LA.

download a gamedata unpacker, the same works for LA which worked fine for SoC and other stalker games. You dont need to unpack all, the last db file contains the latest files.

Please send us a savegame + crash log so we can investigate. till then I'd suggest to reload an earlier save, or try to run far away from that base, looking to the darkscape level entrance direction. We are aware of this bug, but it happens rarely, and we would need a savegame to be able to debug it.

you can ignore the monos, either you follow them and do their orders or ignore them in the beginning will not ruin the storyline.

that is not a story character, just a side mission, which actually ends with a nice bloodbath.

Its an ingame music in SoC, you might find it on the SoC OST album, if not then only in game (gamedata\sounds\music\) :)

Thats why we released the tools so anyone can customize the game for their liking. Its of course not as easy as making a cup of tea, but can be challenging and interesting.

they were only created for R1 mode, which was the only render we planned back in 2009-2010 before the big changes came. Its simply not implemented yet to the other rendering modes, or not finished. Will check on this, but can't promise anything at the moment. Till then you can see that feature in R1 mode :)

there is no german or any other language available in Lost Alpha, only english. For other localisations, you need to download localisation mods which are compatible with the latest LA patch, but unfortunately I do not know from where.

only the white niva does this in 1.3003, so if you buy an other one, all will be the same as before :) ..except that if the trunk door falls down, you wont loose your items.

this was a known mistake in the 2nd patch, install the 3rd/latest patch (1.3003), it was released ca. 7 months ago! eventually if you don't want to start over due to the skipped patch, you can try to look around on gsc forums, where someone created a small fix to bypass this video codec error in july or june, 2014. I will also look around after work.

edit: this can also happen in earlier versions if you simply did not install the xvid codec which the game needs. the setup program brings it up in the end among with other needed programs.

of course its possible! creating models, maps for the game does not need programming skills at all. however if you want to fill the newly created maps with tasks and life... that will need some coding skills, but its all documented, and included with la sdk.

-rain can be tweaked, but havent found any better solution yet.

-vegetation uses hq textures, we did not want to change the same for the buildings because of heavy fps loss. you can try out some random hd textures mod on la, maybe they will work, we do not see any advantage in them.

-as i wrote in previous comment, we have static lights for fireplaces. i tried to capture the "old feel" which was more reddish than yellow. maybe somewhere its overdone, but it can not be changed on the fly, because its static/baked light. recompiling all the maps just because of fireplaces would need users to download several gigabytes of data (not to count the several months of compiling). :)

-ive never played those mods, but if they added amb and hemi, those are in console already (r2_sun_lumscale_amb and _hemi), they can be easily added to options, or they can be edited on the fly thru the console.

model was bugged (caused random ctd), and the guy who made it left the team years ago, so we thought its better to remove all them instead of waiting for someone to join in and fix it... its still an option, but no one with animating and modelling capabilities showed any interest in joining us so far.

Its on countryside level, and there is a side task to retrieve the content from a box. You get a hand drawn map on the Forest level in one of the houses to pass a huge gap/hole to reach the little island (with a -dont laugh- wooden toilet on it which has the items :D). The starting point is marked, if you can locate it, then it's pretty much doable, if not for the 1st, after the 2nd try maybe. It's not that hard that we should make it even more simpler. (in 2012 it had only antigravitational anomaly, and you had to slip thru, but it was waay to hard, so we added the invisible walkways).

it would be possible, but it wasnt in 2008-2009 when majority of the lost alpha game levels were created and lit. currently all fireplaces use static light, if we would want to change that, we would need to re-lit and recompile all outdoor maps, that would take several months... not to mention people would need to download several gigabytes of map data.
