INSTEAD (IN - INterpreter, STEAD - Simple TExt ADventure) - a program interpreter for a simple text adventure games. Provides a platform for amateurplay quests that are a mixture of visual novels and text quests. Games for thegame engine is written mostly in Russian. But personally you can fix it! Make the game in your native language and it will appear on the program website: Instead.syscall.ru

Yep, Open Source, free. The only drawback - the few games in English.
