it wasn't just the APCs! we have the urber resources to make even the EU gunship to be at 1400 polys,, just an example of many other vehicles we've optimized to make room for other more detailed models. Certainly doesn't look like it huh! :P
we thought of adding the soldiers onto gunner posts, and results were fine, except the poly count got bumped all the way to almost 12000.. which might make some slower comps lag in a big game.
EA suggests poly count for 3d models in CNC3 should stay around 3000, but for the sake of better visuals, we've brought the poly count up for all of the bigger vehicles, and made sure the rest of vehicles look great even though the poly counts are much smaller (for example: the EU Apc vehicle, it's poly count is only about 1500, but looks just as good as the original in BF2142 right now!) - all this while everything is still scaled precisely! :) thanks to our talented team hahaha~

ahhhhh >< we're yet to really make progress with infantry - as far as they are concerned, we still havent even made our mind up as to should each infantry unit be in just singlar (like in CNC Generals), or squad format (like in CNC3). ideas people? ^^

yup they do :) but if they ever run out of missiles, by default still remembers to go back for a reload as priority, primary pilot gets the say; secondary turret gunner can fire along the way ;)

CNC4 probably wasn't meant to be a CNC game - let alone the finale of a 15 year old storyline. I would've much preferred it if it was just an expansion pack or something.

hey man :D i saw your comment on one of our PAC air transport vehicle screenshots, reminded me to patch up the machine guns so they are more alike the way they were in BF2142! kudos to you for reminding me to fix it XD
yupyup! our model had turrets but they were so small and right at the bottom left & right sides, it's almost impossible to see even in-game unless they're firing. Fixed now, check out the new shot :P thanks for reminding me! ^^
well, the storylines come up pretty good if you look at each map's description when it's loading. they are organized into years, sometimes months, and tells us how a battle begins, so on. if we could follow it that'd be pretty cool imo XD
I agree that would be pretty badass, but probably bump this to a 1GB mod XD it's already 3xxMB now lol :P

honestly, I highly doubt I'll ever go through with making all these new factions, they would simply make the game less truthful to the original BF2142, and we don't want to see that.
Just one very big problem regarding that: metal / iron ores just don't stick out of the ground randomly.. lol
Yes, Titans will be in it, serves their exact use in BF2142 when you play Titan mode maps in our mod :D
get a better soundcard from Creative, I've got the XtremeGamer which is really far from being the best on their catelog... but it already gives me all the difference in music and games I wasn't expecting. Good stuff you should get one too ;)

i know it's all very exciting to speculate about how we should mod the economic system, but honestly speaking, this might be slightly beyond even my programming skills, so while it is great as an idea, might not be able to work because i probably won't be able to do it >.>

I can try to put them in like an easter egg, but I fear other BF2142 fans out there might not appreciate Kane messing with their "Battlefield" :P As for the timeline, I duno, that would completely defy the whole timeline described in BF2142's maps.. and I'd honestly rather have Tiberium removed if it comes down to that hahaha :P

well, right now just for the sake of testing out the units, tiberium fields will remain in the CNC2142 internal build. maybe they will not gona make it into the final public version, we'll see :)

In terms of purely looking at the financial costs, then yup, that is how we have it right now ;)
As for the resources system.. since so far all of our media coverage has been using our existing storyline, which is essentially a Tiberium-inhabited Earth now facing the dawn of a new Ice Age, personally I think we probably don't have too much of a choice but to stick to it at least partially. Having said that, i CAN confirm right now that the usual BF2142 Conquest mode "tickets" will not represent cash in CNC2142, and captured Titan Mode silos will generate income. So there you have it, a few in terms of resources variety :P

thank you man XD we aim to recreate the same intensive, futuristic yet believable BF2142 experience for both new and existing 2142 veterans. the ability to have everything at your command is amazing, and with more official maps coming along this could only get better.. without all the lagging, exploiting, PunkBuster "losing key packets" too, of course :p
according to BF2142, the stacked buildings are compact housing organized for refugees ^^

yeah, EA's cnc3 buildings have always been abit too small.. just look at the civilian cars and the buildings.. when do we ever really see cars go taller than the door? LOL XD
Yeah the titan has a rather different style from the rest of the air vehicles, but thats how the EU Titan looks in the original BF2142, and we're staying with the original design for the die-hard Battlefield fans out there :p
we do have a titan mode, but i wont go into the details for now XD

turning BF2142 into a RTS has also been the team's dream, I suppose the fact BF2142 was close to CNC3's release date gave us abit of inspiration too! :) we definately plan to implement a campaign, but right now our priority is to focus on getting all vehicles done, then work on structures and maps. If that turns out to be finished quickly, who knows? Maybe campaign mode will come earlier? :P
Gunships by default have 6 missile payloads (the same as BF2142). To get the secondary gun turret with an extra TV missile, you'll need to purchase an upgrade for it! ^^
