I didn't know Samual L. Jackson said that! I did hear that Lucas scrapped the idea because Boba would only be 13 or 15 years old at the time of Episode III however, saying that he would be too young to fit the armour let alone have enough skill to take down the Grand Jedi Master.
As you can see here, he is supported by a squad of clone/stormtroopers, and Boba was quite a good bounty hunter already at that age ;)
