These buildings are in their own tileset called "Metropolitan" based off of wasteland wasteland and the others still uses the old buildings. Both are the same size. The only textures to change in this tileset are roads, and the metal plates texture which has a clean concrete texture.

The white lines are supposed to be generic symbols, I cannot place individual decals or rotate them, instead they are place randomly on the pavement, when the map is loaded.

Since textures for infantry are small (128x128) renderings this close look rather smeared due to texture filtering so I have it turned off to show the pixels which looks cleaner than with filtering.

Nothing story related, I was just thinking on haveing the spartan be a republic tank rather than an empire tank. The decision isn't final but I'm really considering it.

Yea you guys are right. This is the basic infantry of the shadow, but they are better at combat than the alliance grunt. I guess your right he should shoulder his weapon.

Ill be honest i was just trying to make a general shape of compact assault rifle.
I was thinking of making these guys attack animation fire from the hip, instead of his shoulder. Would that be to strange?

Sorry for late reply... But gae does have custom huds but there done entirely different, using something called Widgets. I don't understand much about em as I don't use GAE that much...

Unfortunately, no garrisoning cannot be done on megaglest, so infantry do not have much protection other than numbers... They still have decent firepower for their price, so they are still useful ;P

Defiantly Megaglest has much new particle effects, much more stable multi-player, dedicated server, and even an in game mod download feature! Its a large improvement over standard Glest!

The population cap at the moment is 60 which is for all units except structures, for these latest screens I set the count to 80. Considering that a player will have to use up at least 20-25 units to resource gathering/base building, which leaves 35-40 combat units per player. It may sound like enough for Glest, my mod is quite different in terms of gameplay and requires a bit more units. 60 is the minimum the population would go, 80 is the ideal number I want to use and 70 is the compromise. I did do some foresight and specifically made my units lower poly than my usual, and lowered texture resolutions to combat this. But this game is as you said more intensive on a computer than standard Glest, but one shouldn't need a super computer to run it. Thanks again!

I wasn't happy with the spider walkers appearance, so I changed it to mrls tank, however, many preferred a mechanized MRLS so i may revert it back to a spider walker, but with a different design, assuming i have the time.

Yes I have looked at spring in the past. Its has great capabilities but I feel a lot more comfortable using the glest engine (in this case the megaglest engine), for ease of use. Maybe ill work with spring for future projects. Thank you for your input!

Thanks! lots of work has been done, though most of it is behind the scenes and aren't visible (balancing, and optimizing) There are unit redesigns but I cannot work at as my PC is dead :( So work will resume when I can get it working. I may have some screens somewhere ill post them if I find them.

Release 4 will be the final version of Annex, unless there are huge bugs in the release. At that point people will be free to add their own content/mod it.

So they are more like radiation/poison traps rather than mines? I like the idea! I think as a hero unit special ability to be able to drop these in key locations to set up devastating ambushes.

Your close, The Bunkers (or Pill Boxes as I call them) are only effective against Infantry and light vehicles, and cannot attack air units. However one of the tech buildings "Fortress" has high hp and armor as well as firing anti-tank rockets. For better anti tank anti aircraft you need to supplement them with units. You can still make a solid defense if you hide snipers and AT rifles and add some Officers to increase their attack and heal them. But I wouldn't say this faction would be more defensive than any other faction.

Yes the Hero carries a large AT Rocket launcher.

Land mines while technically possible, are not well implemented in the engine. There is no 'hide' ability nor a way to remove mines once placed, if you disable its collisions. If collisions are enabled the the Ai will easily target mines and destroy them long before they come within detonation range.

There is no hero for this faction. Only the Republic and Alliance have hero units. Shadow and the Renegades have special elite units (the Infiltrator, and the Commando) which function as a sub heros in squads of 3.

I'm undecided weather i want to keep it this way or do I want to eventually re organize both to have heros as well. But that is later on as of next release this is how they will be set up.

I cant :( or at least not now. Tileset objects disappear when they get far enough from the screen (to save memory) normally this is not an issue, but when dealing with objects larger than 3 squares you notice them appearing and disappearing. Once we can change the code so that they will disappear farther from screen, then ill increase the size.

As for the shore, MG uses one texture for all mountains, so I cannot change that either unless some gets hard coded into the engine. Thank you for input though!

Yea I can understand where you were coming from. However, one of the biggest drives for this was that as a mod I felt more or less limited to a community centered around the parent game. While Annex broke out of that somewhat being seen as standalone mod, It still felt overlooked due to it being a mod for a relatively unknown game, when compared to mods for Command and Conquer, StarCraft, etc, etc... I feel that many more would be interested to try Annex if its identifiable as an Indie game.

I apologize for such a drastic change so suddenly. I know the move sucks for now but once all the kinks are worked out I feel Annex would benefit a lot more after this.

Yep! Though a variation on the Aliance faction, so many of its units wil be similar to the Alliance, with some unique new units planned such as the commando and the ranger.

I wanted her to have Armored boots so I game them the blocky boots. Is it like a texture issue or just a bad idea in general?

Thanks! Infantry wise, there is still only 3 (conscript, AT Rifle, and Buster Rocket) However, with the exception of the harvester and 1 Air unit, vehicles are mostly done, so there is progress :)

I think i got the cuteness out of my system now, so next infantry units will be more badass than cute!

HaHaHa, technically its now eight times, as this version did not look as good in game, so i had to modify its textures. Its cammo is more orange and its helmet is Grey. Looks better that way.

Yes, In order to lessen Annex resource requirements i made infantry textures only 128x128 which is fine for the games normal view but not so good up close.

I started with the standard stuff, there are cooler things planned such as spider mechs + powered infantry suits, but their armament are conventional. No energy weapons planned. This was one of the ideas (a conventional spam army theme) I had for the Empire so its not too far off what the plan was.

Maybe, I never do headlights on my tank so it may be kinda strange. But agree that the back is rather plain.

I thought of a Bradley fighting vehicle when I thought of this unit concept, but it does have some resemblence to a Sherman.

Yes one of the things I'm trying to put together are campaigns/missions Hopefully some Co-Op Missions as well (would be possible next MG release.

This unit is probably the unit I wanted to revive the most.

ha,ha Na this was a 3 player v 1 Ai as hard as we could make it. Ironically the AI was pink :)

fyi, a Mega cpu with 4.9x (max) resource multiplier in "Unlocked" tech tree can be quite vicious

I guess the photo is misleading, Raiders don't collect resources they just happen to be standing there :P. I don't think I showed the workers but they are just a re-skin of the Alliance ones, but good catch though.

The main thing that is new is in the Resource Panel. There is a forth resource shown which is an "Aircraft Cap".

Close you got the Aircraft cap. I haven't changed anything with the mini map. But since the second is hard to see I'll tell, The hero (unit selected) Has a new ability "Air Strike" Which summons a Stingray Bomber (seen in picture). A Tech-Lab is required.

Yea your right, that actually was the plan but I conventional bombs just didn't look and feel right (Air to ground bombs don't look very good in the Glest engine) So a full energy projectile worked better in this case :P

Yea they are pretty similar aren't they, and yes they do fire in an arc. I'm thinking of giving them the option of firing either standard explosive grenades or incendiary rounds.

Yea they only have one unit with it though and the Alliance has 3. The Northern Empire will have energy weapons as well. So its not too out of character for them :)

The issue is that since Flame grunts look very similar to regular grunts having a smaller compact gun might look to similar, but the heaver guns are too bulky so I settled for this one as its much less bulky than the previous design.

Make sure your downloading Beta 2 from annex.megaglest.org. Link on Mod db was the out dated beta 1. Took old download down. New downloads of Beta 2on ModDB await Authorization.

The biggest reason is that most of these units were replaced due to them getting re designs, that fit the alliance theme better, or more detailed models/animations. Some units were changed because I preferred the opposite gender for that unit, (that is why this army is 90% male lol) And couple of units (the air units :P) were developed for another mod I worked on years back.
