Always nice to see some IG love, still hoping that we get some jetpacks or jump troops one day, something to counter all those teleporters and jump packs everyone else has late game.
Looks Amazing, and very smooth. i did notice at one point that the hunter clips part of his cannon through his shield when aiming, I assume that's just due to the massive nature of his shield and cannons and more or less unavoidable?

As someone who also likes playing on T2- This is a great feature. Also love the whole U-2 nod.
Honestly, this has always bothered me and I'm glad someone finally decided to fix it.
While I think these look great and its an awesome concept, practically speaking I doubt I'm going to notice this in an actual game.

Well the empire never really anticipated fighting enemies that could field ships of the same caliber. The executor was built to dominate the field of many weaker enemies, while the viscount was specifically build to counter a single strong enemy. Lucky for me my Nighthammer never travels without its anvil.

This is gonna screw some people up, you cant tell at a glance which is which, and its going to make some people think twice about their deployment... which is exactly what I think you guys were going for.

In a long forgotten asteroid system lies a ship graveyard. In the center of that graveyard lies the broken hull of a massive warship. Scavenger efforts to salvage the ships in the system have never worked out, every captain that steers through the system swears they've seen it. A massive warship, pockmarked with craters and blast marks, turbolaser fire blasting in everywhich direction; the scratched and burned lettering still legible... Invictus. Any salvagers that make it to the ship itself swear that one can hear the voices of gunners crying out target data, stormtroopers defending against boarding craft, and the voice of the captain, cursing the admiral who left him and his men to die. The myths and rumors sparked an interest from the local Triple Alliance Forces in the area. Of the fleet of 20 ships they sent, only one returned. A single Marza dreadnaught, badly damaged and the crew scared stiff. The captain said their fleet was ambushed by a massive black warship, star dreadnaught class, appearing from thin air... Like a ghost. The Trader admiral contacted his Vasari counterpart and a larger task force was prepared, with an Anklyon Titan. This time there were no survivors. The system was quarantined, but the next force that was sent was met with no contact at all. The legend of the ghost of Invictus spread throughout the fleets and the system. All legends have some basis in fact, and as it turns out that graveyard is the site of operation 'Nightmare' a field test of a new generation of warship; the Nightmare Super Star Destroyer, based upon designs recovered by Grand Admiral Thrawn, and overseen by Thrawn himself. The ghost ship myth? Something created by an Imperial Intelligence Agent assigned to the mission. He thought it would be a good way to honor his brother, a gunnery chief on the Invictus; something Thawn approved of greatly. The stories told by the salvagers... The Galaxy is a strange and mysterious place, and you never know what you'll find out there.
Could these end up being in the main mod, this would be awesome. Plus more towers is always a plus in my book!

I can see two sides to this argument, and I believe that in this specific case RevanShan is in the right. Every upload that I checked at least made an attempt to give credit to the proper creator.
Now I also agree that redistribution is usually not good, but in this case the redistribution is to serve an otherwise unserved player community.
I've been a member of ModDB for years now, and its pretty much my exclusive mod site. I used to use filefront years ago, but now I have found that I cannot access those files anymore.
And since I play alone I have never heard of or seen another website that uploads battlefront mods of a high quality. As a result half of these maps and mods are completely unknown to me?
And its because of that that RevanShan is in the right here. Those modders did not do their job as modders in an attempt to get their work to the greatest amount of people.
That's why they shouldn't be mad when someone attempts to spread their work to a new group of players, basically attempting to make their mod more popular.
Now those same modders would ask that their only iteration of their work on this website be taken down, and thus causing its loss to an entire community of potential players. In this case I believe it is the modder's fault for not making their work easily available to a mod consumer like me.
Modding is a service industry, a free one, but still a serivce industry; this means you go to the customers, not the other way around. As such i believe that there are only a few cases where a modder can legitimately demand that it be taken down.
1. If their mod is properly represented on this site, in which case their presence here is un-needed.
2. If proper credit is not established, in which case RevanShan would either remove the mod or give proper credit. The modder should put their mod up on the website as well.
3. If the mod developer or team is doing so for profit. either by selling the mod or by revenue from visits to a specific website. In this case the mod team should make a page and direct the ModDB users to that website for the download. And RevanShan should remove the mod from the compilation.
(as to #3 I know of at least one modder who does this, Nommada Firefox who always directs people to Firefoxccmods.com to get the download, but still keeps a page here to generate interest for the mod.)
Now Darth_Magnus is the creator of the Sith Wars II mod here on ModDB, and his (and/or his team's) work IS represented here on ModDB. As such I believe that if that content were part of RevanShan's uploads then it would be a misuse of the work and un-needed; and in that case RevanShan should take it down.
This is (to my knowledge) not the case.
As to the accusations of shipping these mods with a pirated copy of Star Wars Battlefront II; distribution of pirated software is illegal (and a personal hatred of mine), and if it were true (I don't know myself) then these should be immediately taken down, or at MINIMUM the pirated copies of the game removed from the downloads.
RevanShan is providing a service, and giving proper credit to the modders. I guess though, it really comes down to would you rather have more players playing your mod, or less players playing YOUR mod?
I very much agree with that concept. It would make (to me) much more sense if the covenant were to have individual units instead of squads. Even from a lore standpoint it makes sense, I especially would like to have a custom load out of troops for a situation, and with the many different races the covenant choose from an individual unit would make more sense.
I can only imagine that you'll need 1 or 2 of these things where paired with a battery of regular magnetic accelerator platforms. Also wondering if these will have other defensive benefits compared to their 'little brothers', built in AA gus, a hanger bay, any abilities?
That's a pretty ingenious fix, and it finally means I can use the AT-IC/LC in frontal assaults and not just defense.
