But things like Rogue Squadron, SSD's, an the like are canon.
And to answer your wuestion, we are actually going by the novels for most of it.
We don't claim full 'canon' status; the point of the mod is to have a more 'realistic' experience with the lasers, squadrons, planets, ships....

well, not technically, but you get the point.
The beta will only supprt (fully) skirmish, with a heavy space concentration, but the 1.0 and above should have the GC fuly supported, and an equally modded land aspect.

as for the files:
a full set (select SFX, move SFX, Attack SFX, nebula asteroids SFX) of a space unit of your choice from this list:
Pellaeon-class Star destroyer (Imperial)
Havoc-class bomber (Consortium)
A3 X-Wing (Rebels)
if we(the mod team) like the results, you will be added to the mod team and given Lieutenent status.
Most seem to be on their way to being fixxed. The bombing run is minor, SFX is minor, I fixxed the missile frigate, etc.

its not a set era, given that it starts (level 1) with clone wars era and ends up (level 5) with legacy era tech.

Yes, the hardpoints are upgraded. Turbolasers instead of laser cannons, torp launchers instead of ion cannons, I believe.
And the lasers are BLUE.

thats fine. Some of these are just minor fixes, others need more time. However, we ren't looking to fully activate Hutts and Black Sun until at least 3.0, so i wouldn't hold out THAT long...
yes. we just wanted to stress the space aspect first, since that is the most complex. There will be new ground units.
oh, and its set up so that the actual capital ships are unbuildable until tech 5- and we made it harder to advance tech.
oh yes. And you can add more than one file just by seperating with a comma and a space.
how does one edit lua? I mean, i know theres a program for it, but is lua it's own code, or is it another language in a package?
so basically, new code under a variant replaces old base code, so if I only wanted to change, say, model, hardpoints and sfx, i would only code that in?

Ahh, but not all fighters are spawned. Sure it is possible to spam capitals but a counter-spam of say, KWings would solve it. This might be a problem multiplayer, but the AI seems to prefer a mixed assault...
And you always have the option of not capital spamming. Of course, the same could be said of land: all land units=1 pop, so 10 AT-ATs (providing stormies)
If the community believes this is too major a problem ,I could always set limits on capital ships. And carrier ships, for that matter.
