Warrior Kings: Battles

Game review

One of a kind RTS with a very organic feel. Great music and atmosphere, interesting and diverse unit design. Practical and satisfying combat model. Good tech tree structure and base building design.

A lovely organic RTS with RPG vibes only let down by crippling technical issues.

Mod review

Very flashy on the outside, but lots of annoying/poorly implemented mechanics/features along with poor stability ruin the overall experience.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly

Mod review

Needs a lot more time in the oven.

An ambitious mod, but anemic in the area's that matter the most. Spawns are incredibly sparse resulting in combat starvation even with Crtl+T enabled.
Poor item balancing and poor item variation. No good items that actually stand out. No money sink. Enemy retreats are over done.
Mediocre music score, bordering on tedious.
Poor Troop balancing- most lines are trash/useless.

I've never watched Game of Thrones, so this review isn't tied or influenced at all by it's relation to it. I'm thinking all the glistening reviews stem more from the infatuation of the series rather than the mod's content.

I appreciate the attention to detail. I can appreciate the amount of work put in, but I feel it has a ways to go to deliver on gameplay.

SIGEROUS (SGM)

Mod review

What I really liked:

legacy zones, rank system and new quests, new items.

What I hated:

AI is dumb as a bag of hammers. They only shoot at you from 20 meters away, so once you get any gun with a scope, they can;t even fight back at all and run around like morons while you stand out in the open taking shots at them. (this part totally ruined my motivation to play beyond Marshes)

AI pathing is horrendously bad. In all the bases AI patrol straight into any and all important area's. Every single trader, mechanic has some stupid AI that pushes you out of the way cancelling dialogue with them, plus other AI that are glitched and try to stand in the same place as the key AI characters.

I was loving this mod until I realized there really is no point playing it because the AI are just so incredibly stupid.

While this mod has legacy zones, they are mostly a husk of the real thing. The way they have been implemented is very undeveloped, lacking NPC's, traders and quests.

MISERY

Mod review

A decent mod for those thirsting for more survival elements and better AI.

While it feels more challenging to begin with, it doesn't take long until you discover the many exploits and balancing issues that essentially neutralize most of the challenge it tries to achieve.

The zones feel sparse, most of the time you'll be searching the map for 10 minutes before getting into some gun-fights, but there are usually plenty of mutants around.

AI are designed the forget your disposition to them, making them sitting ducks when that happens. So if Merc's and Bandits are your sworn enemies, expect to find them bumbling about and not hostile to you half the time.

Misery tries to impose a hardcore survival experience with a brutal economy, but ultimately fails to achieve this due to financial snowballing and exploitation of mechanics and poor balancing.

Misery also tends to make your game unresponsive and stutter a lot, possibly due to scripts running here and there. Though I think this is a design problem as other mods like CoC have way more content and spawns yet don't suffer from this.

If you're just after a more challenging experience, you will probably enjoy this for a limited time, but challenge and depth is what you're thirsting for, I'd recommend CoC instead, it's better in every way.

Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven

Game review

A game this good doesn't require any further publicity or justification.

I rate this game now because I feel like I owe at least that much.

Game is a masterpiece, simple as that.
