Well, hello. I'm Chris, living in germany, near berlin in a city called Doomstown. Our mayor is a snow sniffing bastard, and the sub-culture life is going to hell faster than ever. Well, no-one cares. ;) And I just noticed that I had a v in life instead of an f. Why on earth did no one tell me?

Hello Folks! ^^
Yeah, we have a forum now, website's coming.
Anyway.
It isn't much yet, there is no skin on the forum and nothing really
useful on the website. Nevertheless, those things will come
and I'm going to inform you about it with an update on the mod page.

However, you can already register on the forums if you like to.
You'll find it at: Forums.prisonisl4nd.de
Well, I'm not happy with that 4 in the URL and we're going to get a 2nd domain name
and you'll be informed about that too when it is time.

Other than that... we're going to use this weekend for getting some theoretical stuff done.
Now that we have webspace we're going to install a wiki there for our kowledge base,
which will be private (for devs only) until the mod is released.
On that very wiki we'll lay out all the important things we used to store on that google wiki,
which was open to the public all the time.

That's it for today.
Hope you all register already.
There is nothing much going on atm but I'm sure You can change it!

Greetings, df

Okay, if anyone would read that blog, I'm very likely to get flamed to death but I'm very very upset right now and I gotta write about it.

I was browsing the news of ModDB today and I saw ... a brand new l4d campaign.
I thought, wow, awesome.
That screenshot looks awesome and it is for l4d1.
And to top that all, Noesis made it.
So it is very likely to be good.
So I read the article and then played the campaign ... and I felt like
vomiting all over my monitor.
I mean, it still is in beta stages alright.
But honestly, the mapping was terrible.
And I am not talking about brushworking only.
The lighting is rather plain, so is the flow.
Anyway.
I'm sure, very sure, that they are going to fix all issues and problems the people tell them about.
They are the oh-so-awesome Noesis Interactive after all.

Now to my point.
This rather unfinished thing gets featured on the news rotation...
But honestly, is this worth it?
If you ask me for unfinished things to put into the news rotation I could tell you like 5 things which are worth to be there.
But this?
Incredible.
Okay, EndRage();
You can go on and flame me now :P

Hello Folks!
So, I'm writing again, this time about ... the prison.
So, it's coming along now, very good and very quick.
I think we're going to have an update soon, in which we explain about it.
Mainly about why it looks like it does now and stuff like that, but also
introducing some areas and future plans for it.

Oh btw.
If you havn't noticed already, I'm also working together with milo-rd on Visage.
I'm responsible for ... well.
Some mapping and I'm watching out for some "overall art direction thing".
Nothing what would directly effect the story or anything.
Anyway.

I'm also working on a l4d(1) campaign wich is called Sanity Asylum.
I could use some help on it so if you're interested, send me a PM or something ;)

Report abuse Happy New Year and stuff

So, hello and welcome to the new year, folks.
Yet another year full of working on pi|. At least for me.
I think I can savely say that we will release the first "episode" of pi| this year.
We achieved a lot the last 3 months.
And we will achieve a lot more this year.
There are a lot of new things which are done, like a shiny new RPG Launcher
and the Cuda is finally in-game, driving as it should.
The prison is going well, so is the island part.
Character models are also in the making, the finished weapons are beeing skinned
and in a week or so the work on the code will be continued.
I'm looking forward to it since I'm waiting for it for a long time now.
Our teaser had a great, positive impact too and there will be another one.
But I won't tell you what it will be about ;)
All in all things are going well at the moment and I certainly hope it will stay that way.

Oh yeah and I started 3D modeling a bit.
What is good because I can at least model and UVMap my own models now.
Unfortunately the program I'm working with has big compatibility issues with Source(no SMD exporter)
so I have to ask someone else to compile the models for me.
I don't know how to compile models anyway.
I'll have a look into it later though.
Now you probably will ask, why on earth I am using such an incompatible program.
Well, I'm working with it at work and in school so it's the best for me.
I'm probably going to use XSI for the Source related tasks.
Well, that's the plan.

That's it for today.
Thanks for reading, have a nice rest of the week.

Report abuse pi| Updates and stuff

I just watched our latest video product.
And I think you'll be very satisfied when we make it public for all of you.
I just have to say this:
It is not a gameplay video.
But it is better than the small demo videos we made so far.

So.
This means we're definitely having an update this evening.
The first time in the lifespan of this mod something happens
actually in-time. This is a good occassion to party even harder tonight,
at least for me :P

We will also be able to introduce you to someone(once again but this time even better).
He's damn ugly but I think you'll like him anyway.
I mean, he fought a lot of wars so... he's allowed to be ugly. ;)

So yeah, that would be it.
I'm already looking forward to the news.
This is going to be very awesome.
Yes, indeed.
So long.
Don't see death, see destruction, folks!

Report abuse Mornin' Update

Just a quick update in the morning.(at least for me it is darn early...)
The cats are freakin out, as they always do after beeing fed...
it's freakin cold outside and I gotta go work in a few.
Excellent start ;)
Anyway, we didn't make it to update pi| the last sunday.
We wanted to but I thought, we have not enough stuff to show off,
and most important, it wasn't worth a new update.
We'll work on the stuff this week, and then you'll get the update.
What I can say is, that this time the update will be about the prison itself.
So no moving plants this time, folks :P
If we're good, we make a cool new video with our own music and some awesome
footage. Also, we're re-doing all color correction settings for the prison.
Oh yeah and: How about this:
Rotating lights, casting dynamic shadows.
The warning lights will be like that.
Ofc. this will eat up a lot of resources but that's the price.
So if you wanna play pi| some beatiful day, you most likely are going to need something
better than just the normal ep2 specs in your system ...
But no worries.
As long as it runs on my machine, it will most likely run on your machine too.

That is it for now.
Have a nice day.
Thanks for reading
and
stuff.

Greetings, df

Report abuse December ...

What a month this will be.
I'm already dreading it.
Anyway.
For all of you who know St. Nicholas ...
We're probably going to have a nice update for you on that day.
As a gift ;)
Other than that, we're still recruiting mappers for pi|
and we already have 2 guys who are interested.
They are both coming from the Orion Mod.
Which is in Beta state and is beeing tested.
I have to say from what I saw it looks very promising
and I should keep an eye on it.

Anyway.
I hope more mappers will apply soon because we really need them.
(If YOU are a reasoned mapper, go ahead and contact me ;) )

So what else....
Ah yeah, christmas.
That is the time where the end of the money comes even earlier in the month than usual.
And that is the time where everyone should love the others and spread the good words of JESUS CHRIST!!!! to the world.
I like to stay out of that business though.
Probably I will just stay at home, with all the family, eat something nice and pack on some weight xD

Or maybe, I land a good christmas deal, do a logo or a webdesign, earn some money for it and then I can buy me that mini notebook I'd like to have ^^

Enough non-sense.
That's it for now.
have a nice day, happy easter and stuff :P

Report abuse Wandpapier (Wallpapers)

Hello Folks!
Just another Blog. Finally.
So to bring you up to date with the latest stuff going on in the pi| team, read on.

1st of all:
I was chatting with neahc not too long ago and he had the idea of wallpapers for Prison Island.
No problem, I can do some.
But there would be no fun about it so I ask you, all my readers(and the mod community in a few hours) to do wallpapers for Prison Island.
I have prepared a set of vector graphics and some screenshots for you.
You can download them here: Click
Send your works to mr.honda[at]hotmail.de

2nd:
Due to heavy and allmighty, never ending restructuringactivities inside the team,
we have a lot of new content (as you can see on our moddb page)
but actual production has movedforward slower then I have expected so the ideal
release time for around christmas can not be met.

3rd:
I will tell the following in an upcoming update too but forthose who read my blog,
you'll know earlier.
Because of the size of our project, we decided to release the game in
"Episodes". Quite a common method these days.
So with the first public release (don't ask me when it will be, yet) you will not
get the full game but only the first chapter.
Maybe it will be too short for your likings but I hope you all understand
that it would take even longer to release the whole game at once and I'm sure,
you all want to finally play it and see, for example, our awesome palms ;)

4th:
If you can help us out with coding, skinning, modeling or mapping,
feel free to contact me.
Not that we urgently need people right now but it would be a lot easier and faster to reach our goals if we have more people working on the project.

That was it, I hope to see some wallpapers of yours soon ;)

Report abuse Busy busy busy

I was busy this week.
I did a lot of stuff but nothing much on the mod.
Most of the time I spend shooting photos and then
post processing them and put them on my DA account.
Ofc I gotta pose a bit now and then I'll go on telling you, what will be next.

So the main reason for the photo session was Lucille.
This is Lucille:

Meet Lucille pt.2 by ~damagefilter on deviantART

And the place we made the photos was so nice, I decided to make some more from
the surrounding buildings.
They look like this:

My house, or your house? by ~damagefilter on deviantART

Yeah alright, enough of that.
Lets get to the real thing ;)

What's coming next to pi| is a general meeting.
We will discuss the details about the maps we need to make and
the corresponding materials (models and textures).
The HUD is quite finished now.
The alignment of the elements works and we still lack a good
class to process bitmap fonts.
That is a minor problem and I decided we should go ahead and make the more important things now.
For example the energy system code and the implementing of the plasma gun,
aswell as the Suits. That could take another while I guess
but it will be mandatory for testing the maps for flaws.
So it will be done as quick as possible.
Other than that, the grenades got new animations now,
the knife has a new UV map, still needs to be skinned
and the soundtrack is coming along very good so far.
It came to my attention that Omena is good with the guitar so
the soundtrack will include his guitar playing, alongside my e-piano synthies and stuff.

That's it for now folks.
Thanks for reading :)

Report abuse Who invented dvi?

0 comments by damagefilter on Aug 17th, 2009 digg this super bookmark

I mean, I can google it, so don't tell me but seriously.
I got that "new" gfx card here.
And it's cool. It's not a monster but it can handle source engine games
very well and so I'm happy.
But it has 2 dvi, 1 s-video and 1 hdmi outputs.
Where has the good old vga connection gone to?
I mean, I got a monitor so old, it could be from my grandfathers grandfather.
It has no freakin dvi input.
Anyway.
I had found an adapter for it, which was cool.
But I only borrowed it.
The man I got it from told me, he would need it back next week.
Now he wants it back now.
it is okay, because it is his adapter (from apple btw ^^)
but unfortunately I can't access my files now and I have to sit here
on another PC which is awfully slow and without my mod data.

So in short terms, no update for today :(

On the bright side:
We have more time to polish then so you can have some better material to look at.
Just wanted to have that said, so you don't wonder.

greetings!
