Very nice mod. Just wish it had an english translation. Sometimes it takes me quite a while to figure out how to build units, or where to send the ring, etc. But overall, I really love the quality of the mod, and I can't wait to see some of the next improvements.
I'm really stunned by the BFME II community, and how they contribute and share models and support other mods. Bravo to all who contributed.
I'm getting the impression that there's been more recent updates somewhere, but the latest on this site is from may, and the author's homepage has about 30 posts saying 'Update' dating back several years, with no indication of which is the latest.
Because the fans seem to post continually across all of the posts without prejudice, bumping them randomly to the top, there is no apparent order to be discerned without reading over 1000 pages, the vast majority of which seem to be variations on 'I'm wetting myself in anticipation!!' leaving the question hanging in the air for the casual reader: 'Over what???'.
Seriously this could be better handled. No one should have to read 1000 pages to figure out what the status of the mod is. Have a look at the Freelancer SW mod: Freeworlds: Tides of War, to see how to handle distributing information to a community. This isn't a stab at the RAW devs. They (especially Zer0x) seem to be busy guys. But they really need a community manager or at least better information distribution techniques if this mod is to achieve the success it probably deserves.
I have been a 'gamer' since pong and pac-man. This is without a doubt the best video game I have ever played.
GRATZ on winning Editor's choice MP! WELL and richly deserved imo. You guys put your hearts and souls into this, and we all appreciated your hard work, blood, sweat and tears.
Ahh that makes a lot of sense. I think that's a good solution. I was wondering how a TIE pilot would like his ship (however adjusted for balance) when exploring or flying through asteroids where each little bit of damage is cumulative and means he has to quit exploring and find a dock. Just some details like that could have been annoying. But then in PvP I'd definitely use the unshielded version.
Great compromise imo. Thanks for the response.
I'm sorry, I'm having trouble concentrating on the dogfighting mechanics with the Wing animations and ISD constantly drawing my eyes. And engine-wash in freelancer? Are you serious? Thats's brilliant!
Hey, I noticed the TIE fighter has shields again. Did you have to concede that for balance ultimately, or is it just a case of two changes not making it to the same version? I'm just curious. Either way it's understandable.
Wow, this is really stunning. Flying in this, I'm pretty sure I'd never leave cockpit view. Which ship is this, exactly?
How did you manage to fit this much sexy into such a tiny little screenshot?
You certainly do! lol
But in all fairness, they have a great leader. Having browsed the blogs, I can say I've never seen a mod team so visibly well-organized. And I've been an incurable mod-junkie for more than ten years.. :)
Yeah I hope so too. I've been talking to other people on other SW mod sites about this mod. I think there are a lot of SW fans and freelancer fans out there who are waiting for this mod. More than we might expect. Many of whom have never been seen on the freeworlds server, or not in years. To use a film quote: If you build it, they will come. Word of mouth can have really surprising, powerful and unexpected results.
In my case I tried the old freeworlds about 2-3 years back, but wasn't hooked (largely due to the complete lack of ship balance, though the community seemed really cool). I think there's tons of people out there who are just waiting for a mod that does SW right. This looks like it's going to be that mod.
Awesome vid. I wasn't sure about the mission system idea, but wow this really brings home how cool and fun (and team oriented) it will be.
As a side note, they could **visually** benefit from starting closer together, if that's even possible with how AI spawns. In the movies (as you know) the capital ships for each faction were usually pretty close together, allowing fighter battles to slalom in between them. I think that would create a real rush of adrenaline for the crazy pilot willing to engage at close range lol.
You know, if you ever get out of game design you can probably find a promising career in marketing.
You've built the hype to a fever. I can't help but check the site every day to see if there's an update lol. Granted, the hype is a product of the fantastic work you guys have been doing, but you've got us all chomping at the bit over it. :D
Get Max edition.
Currently you need Crysis to play the game, however there's been much developer talk of porting the game to Warhead in the upcoming future to take advantage of some enhanced capabilities of that platform.
Maximum edition comes with both, for little extra cost.
That HUD is a Thing of Beauty.
Nice to see the old ever-present brackets taking a vacation after all those years. The new HUD really seems to give your mod a unique flavor. I love it!
Wow, fantastic. This is exactly what we were hoping for.
Speaking for myself (but probably for others) we didn't in any way want to malign or impugn the wonderful work you guys have been doing. On the other hand, our shared love for the franchise kind of compels us to give our input if we can, so long as there is some chance to (by our input) help to make this the star wars experience we have all been wishing for (in my case since 1977 lol). I hope the (hopefully constructive) comments about the old non-cannon but otherwise wonderful textures did not insult anyone as I don't believe that this was anyone's intention.
BTW, I am consistently floored by your team. It is the most organized mod team I have ever seen, the most excited, the most wildly talented and the most gracious. Reading blogs on your site particularly amazed me, not only as a window into your collective genius, but I also think it could serve as a sterling example to other modders of how to stay in touch with and inform the community during development. I don't think I could fit enough kudos into this post, so I'll leave it there. :)
Absolutely amazing. I'm using screens of the CorCor and ImpStar to introduce friends to this upcoming mod. Not to mention Kuat, which is unlike anything we've ever seen in a star wars game, and tbh I can't wait to fly around the ring myself (hehe).
You guys must be really excited about just being a part of this project as it comes together. There are jaws dropping all over the internet right now. O_O
Yeah, this team is amazing, and I am absolutely adoring the great work being done. But the moncal here looks better in the before shot imo. It probably looks better in-game I imagine, but the screenshots make those weird grey lines stand out a lot.
It's going to be a treat to see these in game, especially when they look like tiny little toys docked at Kuat - until you fly closer!
You guys sure have captured the epic scale of Star Wars!
It just goes to show that uncompromising attention to detail is one of the most important requirements for quality modding.
These engine glows are jaw dropping!
