I am nothing much, merely a curious soul with a love for games, and a passion for making them as well. Perhaps in the far-flung future I shall create mods for Half-Life 2, I already have made a few for other games, but never attempted one so massive... Anyways, greetings, and welcome to my page. Unlike some people, I am actually fairly friendly.

Hmmm, I do hope you'll be making lightning an actual threat in game, seeing as its also the deadliest force of nature out there. Every disaster has its shock value, but NOTHING kills like lightning can. Basically, you are a rare one if you live after getting hit by lightning. Heck, it even accompanies most disasters as well.

Okay, it might be a bit much, but it would make things more interesting. :D

Looks good, but needs some ambiance. HL2 was always rather big on that, plus its better than silence.

One does not need to update a profile to work on a mod.

Also, if any of you went on their site, you'd notice a whole fuckload of new screenshots. As well as a new image for the homepage.

Then again, most of the whiners are most likely a bunch of very impatient brats, so whatev.

Not bad, I like the lighting. Much better than before. :D

Needs some sort of ambient sounds tho, its not really unsettling. Maybe adding the sound of rain, or some rumbles of thunder might help a bit. It would seem fitting.

I'm at a loss as to what to do now. I've ran the 2007 SDK, the 2006 SDK, did the stress test, ran Episode Two, as well as HL2 and episode one, and then tried Missing information 1.6, only for me to have it pause midway through playing the intro video, and then crash as it tries to load the main menu. :S Not sure whats going on, any advice?

Cyowolf Apr 16 2011 says:

Not bad, but I see an abundance of full-dark maps. Some nice lighting, but most of it is pure darkness. It could do with some very dull lighting to get rid of that, but still give the impression of darkness, without the full dark effect.

Use some of the same lighting as the first room we saw in the video, but turn down the brightness, with period spots of darkness. I'd rather of the effect of wondering what those spots might hide than wander around wondering where the hell do I go next.

Which by the way, the full dark is a very bad idea and no one likes them. Players want to admire the map, not stumble around blindly.

Cyowolf Apr 9 2011 says:

Full dark maps are a pure nuisance and add little to a horror modbeyond frustration. All you wind up doing is walking/running a little bit, flashlight goes out, you have to wait for it to recharge and repeat. It's a nuisance and a detriment to the game. Plus, it does nothing for the atmosphere. There has NEVER been a commercial game that has used full dark maps. Use some soft moonlight or something. Make it so that we can see, but barely.

I've played Ep 2 many times, and those listed all (or at least two of them do) require ep 2 to play. I've ran the 2007 SDK as well. Still having hl2.exe crash on me. :S

I'm also getting an odd crash when I try and start it up. I've downloaded a and re-installed it a few times now, so I'm not sure whats going on.

The error I get is that hl2.exe has crashed. Not really sure what to do at the moment, every other mod has worked well for me. (Played NH2, Precursor, and The Sewer with no errors.)

(Note: the following is in the same place with the loooong, slightly explosive, staircase winding around a core that makes the area rumble.)

Actually, I've found another bug. In the area right before you fight the Hell Knight, if you sprint over the elevator all the way to the end of the hallway and go back and drop down into the arena, the pillars with the power cells will already be down for some reason, and when you kill the Hell knight, you will be trapped with nowhere to go.

Gonna give this stage another run to see if I can do it without breaking it, but I figured you would want to know. (It's the stage where you can get the Armageddon Sword. Which kicks massive amounts of *** as well. Gravity defying attacks are <3 for me.)

You fellows have TRULY outdone yourselves. I finally got around to playing as Jedrik Demonhorn. I had first thought of him as nothing special, I thought that maybe he was a rehashed Duke.

Nope. He plays totally different than duke. If anything he's actually more fun to play as then Duke. XD Seriously, Duke made me feel like a hero, but Jedrik is just the paramount evil hero with all of the various afflictions he can deal out. ESPECIALLY with that cursed Knife and that enemies will actually EXPLODE if you use it and they die under the curse.

Truly, truly awesome.

Also, first thought of using the sprint+shield: Piggy go splat. :D

I have this weird lag that pops up whenever I hit a checkpoint, or when monsters spawn.

Mind you, I have a quadcore computer, 8 gig ram, so I don't see where there should be a problem.

It's still playable, yes, but it's rather disorienting when that happens. Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

Cyowolf Mar 3 2011 says:

The three cases have some bizarre clipping issues, one dissappeared entirely when I tried to use it as a stepping stone to see what was in the dumpster.

Also, when entering the dreamworld, in the first corridor, if you leave the file cabinet drawers open, the flares don't spawn in the drawers, just in the file cabinet itself. I've had a few instances of that happening and being unable to even close the drawers. :S

Also, if the batteries are pickups, why are they tangible? The reason I'm asking this is that if I have to pick up the flashlight, and I fail to collect them, that makes me think I don't have it.

Interesting mod so far, really unsettling at times, even during daytime. It's pretty good, though I question why I can't pick up boxes. :S Selective pick-up-able objects have always bothered me tho. It's like, oh hey, why can I pick up identical crate A, but not identical crate B?

I know these seem to be minor annoyances, but they can stack up quickly, especially if I lose plot coupons and I have to pickup each and every battery. >.<;

Define "interactive game". Doesn't that require some method of input from the user beyond merely moving around?

Even if it fulfills that requirement, it barely does so. There is little else beyond sound and story in here. To me, a game is not successful if it has zero replay-ability. Its a one and done situation, to be shelved and never touched again.

Gotta agree with that. It's a real slap in the face to make something for free, with all signs pointing that it will stay free, then abruptly turn around that it is going commercial.

Let me put this bluntly. Knytt's Story deserves a commercial release FAAAAAAAAAAAR more than this does. If only due to the fact that it would be worth the price, thanks to the gameplay mechanics and wonderful modding tools. (and some of the trippiest stuff I have EVER seen)

Cyowolf Feb 11 2011 says:

For a commercial mod, I don't quite see the appeal of it. After all, it's merely a game about a man wandering an island, gradually getting the story as you go. True, the visuals may be improved, but I still don't quite see how that merits it becoming a commercial game. :S
