This definitely looks very intriguing, however one thing is bugging me that I need to know: will this mod have the same system of "realism" as others, where you only ever find 3 or 4 bullets on people, even if you've just killed them immediately after watching them reload their gun? That always bothers me. Again, still looks awesome (and Redux had some great stuff that I enjoyed) I just need to know lol.

Never mind what I said before; it turns out it is your PGR mod causing it. Did a fresh install and defrag, dropped in a fixed XrEngine.exe, and everything was loading fine. Install PGR, suddenly the issues are back, even after uninstalling the mod.

Never mind, I have discovered that that weird long pause bug isn't the fault of the mod... CoP is doing it even on a fresh install of the game. Now I need to figure out how to fix it...

It seems to happen when I go to start a new game as well - big pause where I'm just looking at the difficulty select, then it'll eventually go to the loading screen. Would switch_distance still be the cause of that?

There's something about this texture... It's not that it's "bad" per se, it's just that it feels... too flat, maybe? Yeah, that's about as close as I'll get to being able to say what I'm thinking. It just looks like sheets of colour rather than a texture.

Okay so at first I wasn't entirely sold on the magazine system, but I watched that video and it's actually insanely cool. Good work, guys. I don't know if I'll be able to handle the difficulty, but I'll definitely enjoy the act of reloading.

Sounds are terrific; even the Makarov sounds like it was actually designed to kill people now.

One thing regarding the weapon damage:

It seems like some of them still take quite a few hits to actually kill NPCs - the Abakan was a good example of this, as well as the AK-74U - while the .357 seemed to be absolutely putting fools down. I understand the .357 is a pretty damn beefy round, but it seemed to be one-shotting some NPCs while the other weapons mentioned were taking upwards of 6 rounds.

The thing is, the stamina drains rapidly even if just jogging with 15 kilos. And also, telling some random joe on ModDB to try it out really isn't a constructive counter argument, considering we're supposed to be playing as highly trained and conditioned USS special agents. Something tells me they're probably in shape.

I think the problem with what you suggest, specifically the bloodsucker fight you mention, is that this will stop being atmospheric and engrossing after doing it a few times, and will really just become tedious. Focusing on realism is a noble endeavour, but we need to remember that at the end of the day this is a videogame, and it still needs to be fun.

But that's the thing: an upside-down cross *doesn't* represent the devil. People think it does because they're ignorant and stupid. And even if it did - who cares?

And yes, Hell is the place where the devil reigns. But it's a place where God himself sends sinners. God created everything; if He wanted to get rid of Hell he could wave his hands and it would be gone.

Regardless of all this, the fact remains that Doom 3 does not at all glorify satanism / satanic imagery / anything else you might think. The game is entirely based around *defeating* the forces of evil. Removing anything that links the game to Hell / the devil makes it just another game about a dude shooting some bad dudes. Doing so means the stakes are lowered; you're just clearing out an infestation of monsters. Ho hum. Contrast this with the original, in which you were one man facing down legions of hellspawn, eventually delving into Hell itself to destroy the incarnation of evil. Much more engrossing.

Basically all your mod does is clip the balls off of Doom 3.

As I stated below, in a reply to one of your comments, the upside-down cross is not a satanic symbol; it is a symbol of St. Peter, who did not feel worthy of dying in the same manner as Jesus.

You plan to remove the Hell level for some (probably retarded) reason, in your mad inquisition to remove all "satanic" content from the game. But what is Hell if not the counterpoint to Heaven? The place where God himself sends the unrepentant sinners, if the bible / Church can be believed. And if they can't, then it's still a place invented by those who worship God. Regardless, it is not something invented by those who are satanic, and thus it is ridiculous for you to want to remove it.

I'm not even religious, and yet I am insulted by the sheer idiocy of this concept, let alone the lack of actual analytical thinking / common goddamn sense on display. Let's not even discuss the pussiness factor.

All in all, it seems like the mod best suited for you would be uninstalling the game and then playing with your teddy bears.

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far, but I have one concern: is that music the official "battle music" that plays during firefights? Because... I dunno, I might be in the minority here, but I don't care for it all that much. It just doesn't fit the tone, in my opinion.

Just realized I said "row" instead of "column". Though, thinking about it, arranging the artifacts CoP style would be pretty good too. Either way, I think having them all in one line, be it a row or a column, looks cleaner. Having a box of artifacts looks a bit more cluttered, in my opinion.
