Blog RSS Feed Report abuse Help DameDesu grow

DameDesu.com

"NO, I'M NOT DEAD, and i've been watching all the peverted things you've been doing in my absence."

*cough cough* so hello again!!! Been a while, but lot's of work been keeping me busy, including the management of DameDesu. Hope everyone's doing well, if not, what are you waiting for? Come over here and i'll give you a hug <3

I think everyone who pops in my profile knows DameDesu (if you don't - GO VISIT IT NOW :|).

Not long ago (end of 2011), DD was upgraded again, it's much more fluid, i have a little help now with the news (a really, really big thanks to Molson), but DD needs one more little thing.

Now that everything is finally fully settled, i'm really looking into making the community site grow, by that, i mean regular visitors stay for a chat.

DD is a really big site, updated daily with news that range from anime, manga and those awesome games that many times never see our coasts.

The site also features several good community features, the users can create their own groups, upload pics and videos and have their own wall, just like on Moddb. But this would can't be complete without a forum.

DameDesu is an ad-free site (unlike so many anime sites), so you aren't bothered with the clutter from those annoying banners.

This is alot of work and money that i'm investing, but alas, i'm not Miss Suzumiya (God) and i can't do everything alone.

I come here ask for your help now - help the community around it grow.

I'm looking for ways to make publicity and make the site well known between everyone. If you have a spot somewhere where you can help spread the word, i appreciated it, and it will be noted on your profile on DD. Of if you know anything i can do to make publicity of DameDesu please tell me.

In short - If you know anything that can be done to help the site grow, please give a hand.

Well, i think that's all, thanks for your time!
Be sure you keep visiting DameDesu.com for your news,

Report abuse Dame Desu - The next steps

DameDesu.com

DameDesu keeps growing and growing, the site just had a full revamp this week, is updated on a daily basis with news, and so and so.

Lot's of work for a 1 man team, but is this man satisfied?

No. This man wants more and more. They say greed is a sin... but is it really? This man seeks to bring one last feature to the site, and that is JP lessons. Yes, after 3 months of work, DameDesu is receiving it's first JP lesson in the upcoming weeks, just like it was said all that time ago.

Can this man get a cookie now?

Site features:
- Anime/Manga Database -
List and detailed info from Animes and Mangas.

- Anime World daily news -
The site is updated on a daily basis with anime news. New releases, latest news, teasers, and much more.

- Achievements -
Games have it, we have it too, can you get them all? (damn, that really sounded bad now -_-)

- Forum -
Fully integrated forum within the site.

Still not registered? what are you waiting for?

Cheers,

DameDesu.com

Evan tough i'm here on a daily basis, i've rarely been speaking to anyone.. just too much work on my shoulders, and some of that work is from DameDesu.

So, what has been keeping me busy?

Site revamped.... yes... again:
- Anime/Manga Database -
List and detailed info from Animes and Mangas.

- Site stability -
Several changes to add stability to the site.

- Achievements -
Games have it, we have it too, can you get them all? (damn, that really sounded bad now -_-)

- Forum integration -
Forum integration within the site (very, very soon).

So, in other words, DameDesu just got better.

Still not registed? what are you waiting for? No, i'm not going to pay you to register, so if that's what you're waiting for, bad luck.

Cheers,
- CW85

The site is prepared for a full community, so it's packed:

In the next few weeks i'll also be presenting Japanese lessons for everyone interested into learning Japanese too.

Report abuse CW's randoms - Ukagaka - beta release

CW's randoms

CW's english Ukagaka

Last update - 22-10-2010
Last stable release - Damedesu.com

Changelog:
22/10 - First inital release
13/10 - Code updated, 100 lines of speech, 143 phrases.
01/10 - New code - the main character has conversations with a 2nd character (or more).
25/09 - Project started

Features:
- 1 Character: Kaori
- 1 (place holder) side-character: Orion
- Over 140 lines (playing every min.)
- Email checker
- Calendar

Known Issues:
- Sometimes the Characters don't show up, to fix right click on the SSP SSP icon near the clock.
- Transparent not working properly (pixels.. PIXELS....)

Last news:
It's my birthday, so i'm feeling happy, and i feel happy, i hope everyone else does too, for that, i'm giving out a small present, it isn't much, and it really sucks, but you can now give a try to my Kaori (the Ukagaka).
(OLD) Near finishing the work with the main character for the Ukakaga. Still want to do a little refining work on the hair, and need to finish the rest of the cloths. Eyes and mouth need to be completed too. But time is running out...

Updated a little more the speechbank, and it now has exactly 100 lines of speech, with a total 143 phrases. As always, i had more eyes than belly, and as much as i wanted for the first release to have at least 1000 lines... well, it just won't happen :/ But at least it has a little diversity so far, let's see how much i can do in 1 week.

THE UKAGAKA PROJECT

Project start date: 25-09-2010
Release date: 'soon' (VALVEtm time)
Resources used so far: notepad++. photoshop, 9 beers, 1 lemon ice tea, toast

So, between breaks of my CGI movie work, my job and my programming course, i've started working on a fully english Ukagaka. Still very early on the job on it, but so far the progress been really smooth. Right now i picked up 2 characters i already drawed some time ago and palced them as place holders, until i make new ones. Also, the speechbank only has ~50 lines by now, but i intend the first release to have at least 1000 lines. After having both above completed, i'll start working on a "speech bot" (you can talk with the character and it will answer you back). Finally i'm trying to make some changes to the MP3 plugin, since the one used is really basic, and a bit hard to use in some aspects.

Work Status:
- Characters - WIP
- Speechbank - WIP
- Speech bot - PENDING
- MP3 plugin implementation - PENDING
- Calendar - Complete
- Mail check - PENDING
- News fetcher - Complete

Whatareyoutalkingabout!?

What is an Ukagaka?
- An Ukagaka is a virtual desktop character, that interacts with the user, by talking randomly or answering to the user, some more advanced ukagakas have more options such as checking email, calendar, music player, etc.

Why are you doing this?
- As much as you google, every answer you'll see is that there are no english ghosts (the speeches for the characters), they're always in japanese/korean/chinese (NOTE: There are in fact english ones out there, but they're really hard to find).
- So i decided to create my own, it will be fully in english.
- At start there will be only 1 shell (shell = characters), which will be a total of 3 characters together, might create more later.

What can i expect from your work?
- A fully english ukagaka;
- 3 fully "animated" characters;
- More stuff at as it comes.
