Need to setup the mood and do some research before :)
On the other hand, I'm working on this alone, yep there is no team behind it, all of it is just a one man's work xD

As for ingame shots, they are coming soon enough. I guess its time to show off what I've learned during all the time this mod was dead and that is about a year's worth of extra knowledge in modeling, texturing, level design, music making, drawing etc...

During my absence I've been working on Primal Carnage and Warmgun which are both indie UDK titles.

Here is a video of a level I've put together for a promotional video in 2010.

Youtube.com

Now that cryengine 3 is out, I'm currently getting myself up to date with some tools and setting up some workflows for Art pipeline etc...

Anyways, stay tuned for some news and announcements.

Maristo, I think your wrong there, I can find many examples of games without a proper story background that had great success. One of them is counter strike or L4D for example.
Also go take your anger in Private please, there are private messages you can use.

Actually there are some total conversion mods out there, check out crymod.com there is a bunch of mods already finished.
In the other hand the cry engine 2 handles very well streaming.
One of the upcoming MMO titles from NCsoft(linage, Aion...) is going to be using the cry engine 2 for example.
There aren't many people who make total conversion mod because importing custom assets into the cry engine 2 isn't as easy as in the unreal engine.
I also think the engine wasn't very popular for modding because of the specs you need to run it when it came out.
Today it is time to look back at such wonderful engine that has a great potential.

yea you should play both of Fumito Ueda's games (Ico and sotc) 2 great games and a real work of art in the video game industry.
And right now he's working on another title but in PS3 only; I might have to buy the console just to play the game haha. (game title : The Last Guardian) It might also be a good source of inspiration for Tales of Wenda.

Also if you notice, the sun isn't in the same place as in the screenshots, its just the day/night cycle doing its work, I'll try to add a dynamic weather effect later.

Thanks, I really appreciate the support :D ; here is a how the scene looks like in motion (recorded from the level editor) Filestorage.fr

I'll make a high quality fly through the level when I finish it.

yea, I know about that, but still struggling with some lightning artifacts and especially seams. And I guess that you know that for every UV island, you get a hard edge on its boundaries when you build the lightning in UnrealEd.
Example, if I made a cylinder, UV it, then bring it to UnrealEd to render it, I would get a lighting seam on one of the edges where I cut the UV map.
Also there is real time ambient occlusion, which is true eye candy for the rendering Architecture.

If you look at the amount of triangles drawn in a scene from unreal engine 3 which is around 100k to 300k triangles; 500k to 1200k in the cry engine for the same amount of fps, you can easily know which engine is more optimized.
What if we used the same amount of triangle limitation as in the unreal engine ?

One of the main reasons I'm going for the cry engine, is the real time lightning, day and night cycle, voxel painting, dynamic volumetric lightning and many tools that the unreal engine doesn't have. I've been working on the unreal engine for over a year, enough to know what are the good and bad points.
Just look at the amount of detail I can put in one scene, compare it with the screen shots form the UE 3. And I'm getting the same amount of fps in both engines.
If I where to decide which engine I would use for an mmorpg I'm developing, I would take the cry engine without hesitation.

Thanks, and yea changing to the cry engine wont be a problem, since no coding have been done so far. Doing some scripting for the cry engine seems to be easier then for the unreal engine. The cry engine uses LUA language and the unreal engine "UScript\".LUA is more easy to learn imo when I looked at it.

I'll try to get some better quality screenshots for the next ones, these ones where took from the editor, it wasn't even in game with anti-aliasing ^^

Yea, I think its the best choice, the unreal engine 3 isn't as suitable as the cry engine 2.
Also there is a news about it, its just waiting for authorization to be posted.
Stay tuned ^^

Looking good, the fog might be too thick, and some artificial light sources (spots) might add some contrast.
Also some wires and wood/metal supports would be nice too haha
Keep it up!

well its all baked in unreal, all the light maps are rendered in the editor, I didn't use any 3d application (3dsmax) to render the lights. What your seeing here is a mix of bsp and static meshes. All I'll need to do is just build the lights in unreal editor :D
