Project Reality hands down :P

Teamwork is the real highlight in PR, if you havn't played it before, give it a try and stick with it. Tops Vanilla in every way - so if your even remotely interested in playing as a team and you own BF2, give it a try. I just think this is the catagory it deserves to win in.

Unfortunately I don't own a source game but seeing the amount of work put into them they all look fantastic and deserve equal praise.

Wow, I must be out of my mind playing Project Reality for the last year or so - how could I have played a game so boring for so long!

To be honest, the factor of patience to PR weeds out the losers and tards that would ruin it otherwise. I'm glad another unhappy customer bit the dust - that is if you have even played it yet.

PR takes way more to run than Vanilla Bf2, the DEVS have made this clear countless times. Crashes are normally due to people's hardware - not the game itself. Get more RAM and a better graphics card and you should be fine.

Are you trying to say....your parents don't want you playing PR because there is a Taliban faction in it?

Please, let those parents keep the less mature gamers out of PR, and the more mature ones will be able to explain that it is JUST A GAME.
Mind you, this isn't called Project reality for nothing. It's designed to represent as much real life content as possible. The DEV team arn't ever going to make the game softer because some kid can't play because his parents are too strict.

Nobody on moddb is going to help you with this, unless you can dig up some hard proof of the bugs and plead your case to the DEV's I dont know what else you can do. Mind you changing any server side setting other than the default layout with Project Reality affects gameplay far too much. Changing spawn times and other server side settings normally isn't a "bug", which gives the DEV's every right to believe that the server owners changed these settings. Likewise how in Vanilla BF2 a ranked server with custom settings is breaching the licence and is removed.

Sorry, but I'm with the DEVS on this one.

With all due respect, and I'm attempting not to cast a horrible stereotype here, but the total lack of maturity displayed by a large number of Americans really doesn't give you all a good name. This is a gaming and mod website, and political discussion should be brought up elsewhere. Only a handful of posts here are actually decent and thought out and you should really start making an attempt to THINK before you speak.

Go on, show the rest of the world that not all of you are a bunch of patriotic lunatics :P

Indeed, anyone remotely interested in teamwork has to give this a try.
If your looking for a genuinely mature (for real speaking here) and huge community that isn't focused on stats and scores, Go no further than PR.

If a Half Life 2 mod gets first place im going to be angry :P
I consider Project Reality my home game for over a year now and I'm not speaking in stupid fanboy language.

Animation is extremely difficult and time consuming. Consider it the hardest part of development next to coding and the actual engine itself. Probably why this is a section focused on last in mods.

unfortunately an MD5 error comes from a modified file in your PR or Battlefield 2 folder. Unless you know what it is you'll have to re-install. It could have happened if you use battledirector and didn't shut it down properly or there could be some 3rd party program on your PC thats meddling with BF2 and PR. Either way its not Project reality's fault but the only way I know how to fix it is to either re-install or copy over the original BF2 folder if you have a backup.

Not being mean here, but half you people are too fricken stupid to be playing PR. Read the manual instead of blaming these "bugs" on the game. If you cant find a server under 200 ping, not the game's fault. Thats YOUR fault. If you cant select another kit from the spawn screen, thats YOUR fault.

ajrichie, PR can be very annoying and confusing the first time you play it. It's always been this way on every release, but it's something you have to get your head around. Your part of an armed force here, not a bunch of crazy mercenaries that can just run off on their own agendas. If you join a squad and tag along with them, normally you'll get to the action soon enough. As for the blood effects, unless you shoot yourself in the leg with a pistol at your computer desk every time you get hit in PR, there is no way to simulate injury that accurately. Thus they add the injury effect screen because even though I havn't been shot before, I'm pretty sure your not going to shake off a bullet wound in real life.

Project Reality steps outside of Vanilla BF2 action wise because in real life, your not constantly tied in a close quarters battle pegging grenades at every square meter of ground and respawning every 10 seconds if you die. Combat is a serious thing which is reflected here by adding long respawn times, freakishly accurate weapons and huge maps.
War isn't about exposing yourself and yelling "RAAAAWR" while spamming a G36E, its about staying low and completing objectives, fighting when necessary.

Then again...you just might not be a tactical team oriented person which is OK...I guess. Either way, just play PR for a few weeks and get a feel for everything before you write it off, unlike half the people who comment on the PR Moddb Page who are too stupid to follow simple install instructions :P

If you had any problems with 0.8 (ALOT of people did) then give .85 a try, this version definitely tops the rest content and play wise.

If your daunted by the big picture of PR, take a few steps and you'll be right - Join a squad, communicate with them (they wont bite), have a little patience, ask questions and follow orders.

And if its your first time please....please dont take aircraft of any kind :P

Bluedrake, what country do you live in? So people can suggest servers based off that information.

And Keelwar, if you have a problem getting onto Battlefield 2 (Vanilla) online then Project Reality will be the same as to play you have to log on to EA's master-server.

If you liked Project Reality before...wait a few more hours for 0.85...

The pictures on the update doesn't do it any justice. Although its going to be a hefty 3.2 GB download I can guarantee you its for very good reasons.

PR has a massive player base that is only growing every day. Download 0.85 the moment it comes out and you will never download another mod for the next year.

Buy the damn game instead of using a cracked version. Nobody is going to help someone who first of all: Downloads some random (illegal copy) of SW:EAW - Then, actually uses the instructions that came with the illegal download and then attempt to play them off as the real legitimate instructions...

Sorry mate, just go buy the game, then if something goes wrong you can actually get help.

One more (big) thing - If you've ever played PR you'll realise that every game plays out totally differently. I havn't played a game to date for over a period of a year this constantly and on a highly regular basis. Think of PR as a gaming investment :p

And dont be turned off PR when you first have your first game - as the description states PR has a huge learning curve and it isnt exactly the average gamers cup of tea. Project Reality is for REAL MEN!!!

Rockin mod! Hell of a lot of fun that beats the hell through Vanilla BF2 any day. This is the only game you'll need for some singleplayer action, and its even better when you've got a couple mates to take on the endless hordes of bots.

High Quality mod that fills a much needed niche for Battlefield 2!

Great mod for any Generals lover!

There are few mods for generals that really re-work alot of the gameplay mechanics but keep the basic feel that alot of people love about the original Generals and Zero Hour.

Shockwave adds plenty of new units, sounds and textures - not to mention 3 new kick *** generals to choose from. You can really tell this mod is created at a professional level the first time you play. You wont find any of the sloppy work that plagues alot of other generals mods, rather, you'll find very well balanced gameplay between each of the factions that is tightly refined.

You wont find another Generals mod out there like this one, highly recommended! Voted for MOTY as well, Shockwave gives countless hours of fun, and it feels like your playing Generals for the first time again :)

If any mod deserves mod of the year its Project Reality. I doubt you'll find any game either retail or modification that succeeds the game its built upon.

The amount of changes PR brings to Battlefield 2 are so heavy that you wont even feel like your playing Vanilla.
If you want realistic, foot to the floor combat where you have to THINK just to survive, teamwork like you've never seen it, vehicle and weapon models that put Dice's work to shame, sounds, and maps that are bigger than each VBF2 map combined, then this mod is for you! The player base is more than willing to help out newcomers, and with regular updates adding countless amounts of content to the game, theres never been a better time to download PR, and bring out the soldier in you!
