Project Black Sun

Game review may contain spoilers

Hard, Beautiful and prone to making you rage harder than a 12 Year old playing Call of Duty. The game has all the makings of something great but the areas it lacks (and fails) at prevent it from reaching that pinnicle of gaming epicness.

1st: The Map System. This infuriates me as the map (while not -too- big) is overly useless since it doesn't mark "points of interest" such as items or locked doors you dont have the keys for.
2nd: Jump/Shoot/Aim? The lack of Aiming Upward or even basic Jumping and Shooting makes for some of the games most ANNOYING moments, especially during certain boss fights.
3rd: Lack of Story... the most story this game gives you is the intro and THAT IS IT. Once you reach the end of the game and the final boss you have to wonder: "Wow..why is any of this here?" or "This feels unfinished" Seriously.. What IS Project Black Sun? Why is it there? Why are there monsters and a cave system/jungle? How could the devs miss these obvious questions for fleshing out the game world?
4th: THE GOD(*$)(*@ RELOAD!! THIS is the the NUMBER ONE reason you will DIE. The reload animation is a painful 1-2 seconds and when you're fighting a boss that is spamming projectiles it is next to impossible to reload without getting hit.
5th: Lack of Oppertunity... there are alot of things that would fix these problems while adding more to the gameplay...LIKE THE DAMN RELOAD! Things like extending the ammo clip on the gun or even increasing the reload speed with upgrades...also, maybe have those random terminals give DETAILS about the world we're playing in?

Those 5 things are what REALLY kill this game. Aside from that the highpoints are the music and graphics...and that's a damn shame because this is a game that has potential but completely misses the chance to use that potential to make a truely amazing indie metroid-esque game.

Cause of this, Project Black Sun falls short of breaking average.
