I just needed a box with a barrel to skin,i wanted to test out new methods of texturing

i prefer not to use Photoshop, Macromedia Fireworks is just as strong as Photoshop, only that the interface is easier
Macromedia Fireworks isn't HALF as powerful as photoshop.
Once you start getting really down and dirty texturing you will truly see the light.
The Gimp is far weaker then photoshop, but it can be used for free. Photoshop on the other hand, if you can afford it, is well worth the buck. Beware license fraud if you have not bought it.
