I was a full time Chemist for 7 years, now I am a Chem lab leader(it's not my passion but it pays the bills). I have modding to make me happy. I have a BS in Biochem and Fine Art(the reason I like doing this type of mod). I have always drawn(comics, video game art, and anime etc...) I love science fiction. I play a bit of guitar(blues and rock mostly). I practiced and helped teach Goju Karate as a 1st degree black belt but work has since gotten in the way, I haven't been back for over a year:/ I like having hobbies. My latest hobby is modding. MEUITM was my first mod. I was inspired by JeanLuc's work on ME2 and the handful of ME1 textures he did. I wanted to give ME1 the graphics it deserves and seeing his work showed me it was more than possible. I still work on MEUITM. I also have done some texture mods for Dragon Age Origins and now I am working on Super Mario Galaxy 1 Dolphin HD texture mod started by Razius. I am happy to be a part of and share my work with the modding community.

I hear the latest NVidia drivers are more stable than previous over at SBN, but also try LAA and follow the readme to rule out processor and or sound card problems.

Hello there. Crashes are covered in the readme in the troubleshooting section, first thing I would do is delete the bioengine.ini to rule out typos, then follow all suggestions in troubleshooting. I can't help any more than the readme unless you give me more information, system specs: CPU, Vidcard, RAM, OS, and Soundcard. Also did you apply LAA? all of these are things I need to know to help troubleshoot.

So if you need more help please list the information I mentioned and I'll see what I can do from my end :)

Maybe it's possible, but from what I've read you need to add a lot of information for dx11 to interpret tesselation effects. Typically that information comes from very high poly source models. Maybe there is an algorithm to generate tesselation from bump maps but I think to get a true tesselation effect that looks decent you need source models, not bump textures and/or normal maps.

Opensauce looks like it's using OpenGl to add shader effects, but none of them, from what I've seen, are adding tesselation. The models still look the same poly count though they added great textures, bump mapping, specular effects, along with bloom, and other post processing effects like cartoon outline etc...All of which are achievable in DX9.

I am currently playing with enb for ME1 I'll see what I can come up with that suits my tastes and share for people who may like them.

I've seen this too but can't find anything. I am pretty sure it's someone misunderstanding what enb series type of mods do, and it actually refers to the mass effect 3 cinematic enb mod. I could be wrong but like you I can't find any hard evidence of its existence. Also the main point/benefit of dx11 is tesselation. Tesselation adds extra data that simulates higher poly models, superior bump mapping etc... so in order to do a direct x 11 mod with tesselation (without tesselation it's pretty much pointless to use dx11) you need high poly source models to generate them, thus I am thinking the people calling it a dx11 mod are thinking purely of advanced shaders which can be achieved completely in dx9 with enb, sweetfx, and fxaa injector. In short I don't think a true dx11 mod exists.

Thanks, I'm glad you got it sorted and the error does seem to be covered in the readme under Mass Effect crashes, but I haven't updated much if anything on the site for the past 3 or 4 days (taking a small break), so I'm not sure what happened to your comment. If I did delete it it was a mistake and I'm sorry :(

I didn't re-texture the black cammo you would need to find the onyx armors from Aldrin labs, I think those are the N7 armors. You can buy them from vendors or if you grabed the liscense purchase them on the Normandy near Garrus. So far N7 armors and Ash's Pheonix are the only armors I've re-textured for humans.

looks like either a bad install or typo in the bioengine.ini. First delete the bioengine.ini in the mydocuments\bioware\masseffect\config directory and run the game. If that fixes the crash you are all set. If not you may need to re-install the mod. check out the readme for things to check to see if the mod installed properly and to find answers to possible crashes, some/many aren't mod related.

People are reporting crashes with driver issues some people said using the latest beta drivers for their video cards helped, but if its when a call comes in it could be an audio issue. What are your OS and hardware specs?

Looks like some incompatibility on your system, maybe the dll I mentioned above, drivers, or some other software I have no way of knowing. I don't have others reporting this so I am not sure what to do about it.

Sounds like maybe a weird driver issue, I definitely don't have transparent eyelids on my end and they are rendered in the face textures which all humans use except for Anderson, Ash, Joker, and Kaiden. So it should show up on other npc's if it's a texture glitch, very weird I'll Google the issue maybe someone else has had it.

No but if you download the moddb versions earlier that may explain the crash because I uploaded different ones' rather rapidly to fix 2 mistakes, its possible you downloaded in the middle of this and have mishmashing parts, try re-downloading them now as they all should match.

Also the installer plays music by sending instructions a native windows dll "winmm.dll" maybe this is cauing problems for you somehow? Are you hearing any music before the crash? I doubt it is the problem, the worst that should happen is you wont hear any sound, but it may be worth searching your windows system32 folder for the file just to see if you have it. It should be included on all windows systems but things get messed up over time so who knows. Just a thought.

Looks like maybe a bad download? Validate the file integrity with the torrent client if possible, sometimes torrents say they are done downloading when they aren't. Try force resuming the download and see if the torrent still says 100%

Otherwise re-download? I have not seen this type of error before so I have no clue why it would be doing this.

As for your crashes, if you still have them with this version, check out the readme. It contains links to LAA, which you will need most likely need to fix crashes, and a slew of other troubleshooting tips. Also check the Mass Effect wiki for known game crashes and fixes that work both with or without the mod.

Nooo! I am sorry I ticked a 64-bit option in the compression section of the mod thinking it would use more of my system ram to compress to get the files size down, looks like it was a setting for a 64-bit windows app only i will fix it but I gave to work to day so it should be up in about 12 hours or so.

Yep I uploaded a bug femshep face 3 isn't being rendered, fixing now, please refrain from downloading until I update, sorry to everybody who downloaded yesterday and today :(

To fix the bug you'll need to re-download,

or

Get the latest svn of ME3Explorer. Run it and open ME1Explorer, find texture: "HMF_HED_PROCustom_Frek_Diff"
right click hover over fixes and apply the no render fix and save changes that will solve the issue quicker than re-downloading the entire mod, but if that's a bunch of gibberish to you just wait to re-download the mod.

It's all in the file description,

Fixes:
-Installer is now set to overwrite under all conditions (should be no more install issues hopefully)
-Installer no longer has default directory so you can't accidentally click continue too fast resulting
in an install to an incorrect place.
-Shadow fix incorporated properly, remember to clear shader cache or manually delete in:
"X:\Users\XXX\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Published\CookedPC"

New stuff:

-Added ME music medley to installer
-Avina re-texture
-Fixed human/Asari eye glow
-New real eye human/Asari textures
-Sheploo now re-textured closer to vanilla look but with more detal (looks less worn) for "lore" purposes
-Ash's skin re-texture toned down in areas to look less "dirty"

Hello there and thanks,

For sgssaa you need to apply multisampling in the AA settings and sparse grid in the transparency AA settings for the effect to work properly also make sure they match like 2x for both or 4x for both. The screens I took all use 4x for both.

You should only have to set this once in Nvidia Inspector and it should always work.

Also make sure you add the proper anti-aliansing compatibility code, it's not the default one used for Mass Effect it is: "0x000010C1"

This may explain the crashes people are seeing that aren't helped by the readme

Mstark wrote...

"So I have some info. During all my attempts to solve the CTDS I was getting from ME1 I noticed that large number of people started reporting the same issue out of the blue about 3 - 4 weeks ago. Just like me most of them had been able to run the game and now it was unstable as hell. So I have been contacting EA and finally got a response, this was over the phone so to paraphrase:

"We are aware of the recent problems people have and launching mass effect and the crash to desktop issues. The cause is recent updates to both windows operating system and hardware drivers and we have no plans to fix the issue for a game released in 2007. The game will not run properly on some modern hardware configurations and is not considered compatible with windows 8. While some users may not have issues, others will and nothing will be done. No further patches will be released for mass effect."

So in essence the game has ran its shelf life and these crashes are most likely NOT A PROBLEM WITH YOUR MOD."

Thanks for this valuable info. This is sad, looks like we'll have to try to fix it ourselves over time, hopefully its something we the modding community can fix, I'll do my best to look into possible fixes but all help is appreciated.
