Hah, well that's good to know. I hadn't even checked to see if there was an A1.
My favorite is Strelok's custom SIG SG 550, for pretty much the same reasons you listed. The IMI Galil is really great; I just started using it.
The Saiga 12K is by far the most badass shotgun ever created. It mutilates mutants in mere moments.
The sirens always sound off for me. Was it in Pripyat? I can't remember if there are sirens there.
Those lightning storms can creep up pretty fast though. The other blowouts I have no problem avoiding.
Hmm, that's one of the few guns I have yet to find. I'll make that a priority when I play tonight. The A2 can be bought from one of the traders, I know. It must be in a stash; I've found about 60, but there are still a number of them I haven't checked.
Just hit 100 artifacts! This is my longest CoP game yet.
I've played close to 50 hours now on one playthrough. Almost finished with the main quest. It's so much fun just hunting for artifacts and stashes. I have close to 50 different weapons stashed away now. Great mod.
Can't stop playing this.
This was taken during one of the rare appearances of the sun.
Still a miserable place!
I went ahead and posted a few screens on my profile. I'm trying to jump start things! Even if you don't have another contest, I'll... have one with myself.
Great mod, once again. I'll shut up again so I can get back to the Zone.
Hey, N.Aaroe, what are the possibilities of having another screenshot contest, like you did for "I Work Alone"?
I can't help but take screens of the beautifully dreadful landscapes, and would love to see what others can capture. Maybe even have a few different categories, like combat, scenery, blowouts, etc.
I've got about four hours in as well, and was thinking of posting practically that exact same advice. I think the most useful is stockpiling weapons that are still around 75% quality, and going to Cardan to repair, then Owl to resell.
I haven't tried to go back to anomalies I've cleared, but I've already obtained 10-12 artifacts in Zaton.
Like "I Work Alone" before it, "Misery" has reawakened my love of STALKER. The satisfaction and excitement of simply surviving makes this mod difficult for me to stop playing.
The knife sounds do need to be corrected.
Also the stamina/hunger levels could be adjusted.
Still amazing, though. And punishing!
Absolutely stunning mod!
I had lots of problems with the beta, performance-wise, but this proper release is unbelievable!
The game runs beautifully with most settings maxed @ 1920x1080. No crashes or bugs yet. Quicksaves finally work for me!
I can't stop yapping about this mod. I gotta get back to the game.
so effing mod it if you don't like how it is. that's what this site is for. and don't give me the excuse that it's difficult with the sdk, etc.
Here's a list of all the mods/folders contained in this grab bag:
I'm not running the arsenal mod, just AA + patch 1.0, but I agree, the enemies are taking too many hits before they drop. I usually do the mission dealing with Nimble and the bandits solo, but I eventually gave up and needed the stalkers' help, as the enemies took too long to kill.
The 2nd fix, dealing with the inventory UI, fixed nothing either. Still doesn't really affect the game, but wanted to make a note of it.
Aside from the issues I'm having, this mod is fantastic. Really great colors and atmosphere.
Getting the CTD, and the link for the fix is not working.
Oh my, you know I love your work on "I Work Alone," and this looks even more up my alley. Can't wait.
I haven't been able to play IWA 1.2 very much due to life (and the Deus Ex Human Revolution beta leak!), so hopefully when this is released I'll be able to sink into the oppressing atmosphere of the Zone once again to struggle through and eventually kick its ***!
Download link does not work.
How fitting it is that the best game ever made has the absolute greatest mod ever created to complement it.
You should have a [military, IIRC] knife in your inventory that you can't store or sell.
My knife has always worked (aside from the issues I mentioned before)... I'm not sure what's up on your end.
I played a few hours of freeplay yesterday, and the game only shutdown once, so that's an improvement... though I'm not sure what the issue could be.
There are definitely more pseudogiants and chimera in freeplay, which I appreciate. I wish more artifacts would spawn, though.
A few more random comments/questions:
-Is there a way to turn off the grunts/screams my character emits when he's been hit/hurt? It's rather distracting and takes me out of the game.
-One of the last cutscenes when Maj Deg talks to his commanders after he meets Strelok is only in Russian with no sub-titles.
-The knife seems to have zero range, less than vanilla, and also doesn't seem to hit where it should; it's off-centered.
I reloaded my previous game from the last couple missions. I'm going to finish the game again and see if it affects freeplay at all.
Just about the longest part of the loading process, for my rig, is after the colored bar has reached green. I know I'll just have to sit a minute longer before the "Press any key" appears.
If I alt-tab or try to open task manager, x-ray will crash.
Maybe yours is crashing, but I'd say to let it sit there for another minute to see if it was still loading.
Heh, it's a great mod.
Are you familiar with the SMRTER mod? I'd love to have the unique stashes incorporated into your mod. They really rewarded climbing to the most obscure, hard to reach places.
edit: the player starts with way too much ammo! I'm a bit of a masochist, though.
Another suggestion I have would be to add the level switchers, whatever they're called, so a player can move between maps without needing a guide.
I like the more lonesome feel of the Zone, but I think if when the player does run into mutants, specifically the dogs, hamsters, and boars/pigs, their groups should be a little larger, to make things a bit more intense.
I'll try to throw some more suggestions your way as I continue playing. Keep up the great work.
I just played version 1.0 in about a 30 hour run. The game ran great with hardly any problems. Once I started freeplay, the game locks up every time after a few minutes.
I updated to 1.1, but that did not fix the problem.
The game runs fine as normal if I start a new game, so there seems to be a problem with freeplay.
Just wanted to give you a heads up; I hope you can look into this.
