(I'm a bit rusty but I think this would work with almost/all id tech games)

I'd suggest making use of "autoexec.cfg" to include other configs in your mod, within "autoexec.cfg" you could add "exec resolution.cfg" and could then tell users to edit "resolution.cfg" to their liking, which would be easier with less chance of new users editing the wrong value. You could also setup "resolution.cfg" with the resolution values you consider to be a safe but reasonable, perhaps 1920x1080 as I think that's still the most common and should be okay for most performance wise these days. While "DoomConfig.cfg" has even safer/lower default settings.

Using "autoexec.cfg" in this way you could overwrite default settings without having to modify the config file, making it easy to revert to default settings by simply removing it from autoexec or even renaming the file so it can't be found.

I remember adding random encounters to my modded/custom Doom 3 setup, I think it's something the game really benefits from especially for replay value.

In the original game their tricks for throwing monsters at you gets quite predictable so adding a bit of randoms really helps spice it up.

Thanks for the warning, it seems you WILL get a crash, "Host_Changelevel2: Couldn't Load map ba_yard5" unless you first update Blue Shift before using Unlocked.

Worth noting there's a zipped update for Blue Shift here, just need to extract and overwrite files

Also about the music, it can work, using the UCyborg patch and placing the music mp3s in the appropriate folders.

I've been looking for a patch to fix the "IDS?" issue as it's becoming more of a problem as the game progresses.

Where can one download the patch as I've had no luck finding it.

seargedp, thanks for the smaller parts hopefully it helps me and others.

Would you mind releasing the file hashes you have for the split archive parts. It helps people verify if the files are intact as they acquire each file, rather than having to download them all then only finding out during extraction. Even a MD5 hash is generally good enough for such things.

Looking into it would be appreciated. I was planning on trying this over the weekend but the entire nights downloading yielded nothing useful unfortunately.

The Google links would be okay if the archive splits were smaller, say maybe 1 or 2 GiB each. I could probably manage with larger but there are likely those with even slower connections who's downloads Google could ruin.

Also it looks like the updates are starting to stack up so a new up-to-date release might not be a bad idea.

Long time Stalker fan and wanted to try this, though unfortunately it's impossible to download this from Google without a fast enough connection.

After a couple of hours of downloading Google cuts off the download, expires the link, and refuses to allow resuming the download.

Would likely be far better just having the files on ModDB in more manageable split sizes, I've yet to see problems downloading large files from ModDB.

If that's the case perhaps considering adding a knife when adding the artifact handling tool, so the player can at least open boxes (and have fun trying to kill an enemy with only a knife lol).

For those like me who like this mod but want to play Call of Misery with STCoM and the Outfit Addon here's what you need

Mega.nz

Maybe the original uploader could add it to the original as an option if they're up to it and presuming it's all working well (so far it seems to be).

In the "Loner Nightmare" option's "faction_loadouts.ltx" file, the "[stalker]" entry doesn't have ":shared" appended to it...

I've been doing okay until needing to use the artifact handling too, which I don't have, and I'm guessing this is why.

It seems to be working with STCoP and the Outfit Addon, using the STCoP and vanilla Outfit Addon compatibility patches.

Just be sure to check the game options as after adding this mod many options became disabled so you'll have to re-enable the ones you want.

I've downloaded v3.2.2.8 and there is no folder "patches_compatibility/STCoP_+OA_Compatibility_Patch".

Edit...
Tried it with just the STCoP patch, and with the STCoP and separate OA compatibility patches, and all resulted in there being no HUD at all, no icons, no weapons, no hands...

Browser - - 31 comments @ CoM Mutant Ambient Sound Removal [1.0d+]

I dislike ambient sounds that imitate something that may be real. It is misleading and is far more eye-rolling than atmosphere setting.

I'd rather have it be real mutants, enemies, etc, that I can choose to either attack, avoid, ambush, whatever.

It's very annoying going after a sound because you think something is there when infact it is nothing more than just a sound with no source. Such events/sounds should be used carefully and sparingly, for instance if the player is under some effect such as sleep deprived or something.

Playing a sound, especially a scary sound, over and over and over just robs it of being scary. It eventually becomes just "a sound" to the player. Just like a bad movie which plays the same loud sound over and over to scare the viewer, after the first few times it's just annoying and not scary or moot setting.

I was comparing a few textures between mods and noticed some really bad textures and some seem just plain wrong. I found they came from this collection.

As an example compare stetrim2_local.tga from this to the one that comes with wulfen_texture_pack_2.0. There are many more examples and I only checked a few. This may have some better textures but its also got really bad ones.

In other words this update/fix is a mess, even if the uploaded archive wasn't corrupt (and misnamed, it's not a pk4/zip archive), so many mistakes.

Basically using this you'll trade some bad textures for bad textures in other places unless you're willing to fist compare every replacement in order to avoid all the bad textures.

Last time I played I had it working with v1.12 including LoD and Pluggy (D2MultiRes also worked before I added Pluggy).

It would have a problem once in a while but I seem to remember running the D2VidTst.exe and trying different options, like DirectDraw, would get it working again.

As for the exception error, I'm not sure this will help but you could try adding a DEP exception for the game's .exe file.

Thought I'd let you and others know, that using "disconnect;loadgame quicksave" seems to result in the music no longer playing (perhaps related to triggers?). Though exiting to the main menu and then loading game doesn't have that problem and restores the music.

Also I had tried various com_hunkmegs values (though I set it in autoexec.cfg, the console reported the value had changed accordingly), since I and no doubt many others have vastly more RAM these days than the game ever imagined I tried values ranging from 160 all the way to 1000. Since a GB didn't help I didn't bother going any higher and Task Manager shows the game using under 400MB.

It's really unfortunate that changing hunkmegs didn't solve the loading crash as these days you could very safely set it to a high value due to even 1GB of RAM being a safe bet.

If there's any chance you could get the mod to make all loading do that it could help prevent more people running into the loading problem and having to search for solutions.

I don't even remember how long I've had this mod tracked, only to find out it's Steam only when released is beyond disappointing.

Exclusivity is nonsense to begin with and only gets more ridiculous when limiting it to a certain distributor on a platform.

I'm fighting the mercs at the Waste Processing Station and once I had finally killed them all, after a long and very hard fight, I went back to loot corpses only to find they had already started to vanish.

I know because I went back to one that had a good artifact with a user container and the whole corpse was gone. Still pretty early and new to it so it's a major loss and don't even know what I lost on the other bodies that vanished.

That fight is really hard (unless maybe coming back for it later in the game with better gear would help but that defeats the purpose of a hard game), so trying to do this very hard fight while looting bodies is frankly, stupid.

Been searching for a way to increase the corpse body stay duration but haven't had any luck yet.

The screenshots here for this look good but I'm having endless trouble getting it to work with either 32bit or 64bit.

With 32bit it just crashes with an error message and with 64bit the textures are very bad when using the mod, worse than it looks using just the normal 64bit version of the game.

Someone recently asked the install order for patches/FCAM to get it working with 64bit but hasn't been answered, an answer for that would be appreciated incase it gets it working properly.

I tried looking for an FCAM readme after isntalling but didn't find anything, including a readme with such and other helpful information might not be a bad idea.
