Not 'every' mod is for 1.10. Median 2008 and others are for 1.11, because we do understand that forcing people to downgrade to a previous patch is a big middle finger to the player.

Level 18? Act 1 Hatred? On /players 1? Yes, then I guess VoJ is going to be strong for now.

Do Fauztinville or Tran Athulua or CoV on Destruction on /players 8, then tell me if it is still imba in real combat. ;)

Although poor reviews do provide constructive criticism and can be helpful for the modmakers at that point in time, they can have negative effects down the line. It seems many players don't know about the concept of version numbers and only remember the name of the mod.

If you nail 'Terror Zombies from Venus v1.027' to the cross because it is too laggy, and the team fixes the lag bug in the next patch, people will still continue to stumble upon the review and decide not to get the mod because it 'has too much lag'. I have learned one thing from my modmaking career: 90% of all players are lazy morons.

The bottom line is to follow up on the review and if the mod undergoes a significant update, to modify the review accordingly. Very few sites do this.

4. plz also change the picture of health and mana bars.. to make it look "COOLER" than the usual Circle shape.

This will make it harder to spot your health (or mana) getting low, because the eye is more sensitive to shape changes (like a circle turning into a half circle) than to size changes (like a bar getting shorter). The Mythos beta has the latter, and it got me killed several times.

7. Plz Change The Looks of The Maps.. And Towns Also.

What for? Is it really a good idea to spend time and filesize replacing the perfectly fine existing towns, instead of adding new content like more uberlevels?

By the way, if you seriously mean 'change every map', then I hope you can wait for about five years and then download a 1.5 GB file, because that's about the amount of time and the size of all the original graphics...

'There are so many hacked people playing that get hacked items and start off at level 120 with maxed skills. I think you should find a way for the udietoo hack to not work with median, otherwise the game might lose it's touch'

Do you think I can find a way to disable an editor that was created to work with mods? Snowball. Hell. :P

Also, if I miraculously find a way to prevent udie2 cheating, then people will just revert to an earlier version, hack up their character, then install the latest patch...

Besides, any mod -or the regular game- can be hacked by anyone with modding knowledge no matter what. Things like item codes and unique/set names can always be found in the string files, and then all one has to do is set up his own cubemain.txt to turn health potions into elite uniques. It is impossible to prevent cheating, except on third-party realms, which are illegal since Blizzard sued BnetD into the ground a year before WoW came out...

'I noticed that one of the merc's in act 3 has the elemental spell, and the real reason i got hooked on median is because of the apocalypse spell from the original diablo. I was hopping if possibly your next patch could have the elemental spell on the sorc'

'i finally found a set item, even though it's no use to me, being the set item for amazon n me being a sorc... I found it in one of the uber leves that doesn't say were set items can be found..'

Sets are confined to level 121 monsters, not to specific areas. Bosses get a +3 level bonus for the purpose of dropping items, so any boss that is level 118-120 can drop sets as well.

......

'when i put the patch over the old one and i go to singleplayer it freezes and says like Location, line 2016 unrecoverable internal error 6fd94302'

90% of these errors are due to a no-cd crack, loader or maphack. Get rid of it, then try again.

......

'when i download this mod, does it effect single player only or does it effect single and online?'

It >replaces< your game, so it 'affects' everything. There is no closed battle.net, though, because closed battle.net games run on Blizzard's servers, not on your own computer. Blizzard does not have this mod.

Oh and don't worry, it won't delete your classic LoD characters, and you can revert back to LoD (and vice versa) in ~20 seconds. Unlike certain other mods, it will not make your D2 installation go to hell.

(I know, there should really be an option to activate or deactivate the mod from the game menu, but D2 is not exactly a mod-friendly game, so we have to do with swapping files. In this case, thank the lord you chose Median 2008, so you only have to replace one file)

To play multiplayer without closed battle.net, go to the official forum and find people to play with on tcp/ip, or try open battle.net.

Of course not. In fact, I don't actually have D2. I just downloaded the original .mpq and randomly changed stuff.

Read the description of Eagle Flight and Hawk Talons, they convert < (110*lvl) / (lvl+40) >% of physical damage to magic. At level 5, they convert 12%; at level 15, they convert 30%.

If you do not have either at a decent level, use Snake Stance (you do have it, don't you? It is a prereq for Eagle Stance) to do some poison damage.

Hellgate London.

Flagship may have no idea how to communicate, but the game itself appears solid. Don't think 'crap FPS with soft aiming', but think 'Diablo 2 in 3D'. It is an action RPG that just happens to have laser guns, but is otherwise very similar to Diablo 2, down to the randomised levels and loot.

When you just play through the game normally, on all three difficulty levels, and do each of the uberquests once per difficulty level, you'll end up at level 110-115; and the level cap is 120. Few mods are so generous with experience along the way. You only have to 'farm' exp if you want to max out your character.

Or you could just do the uberquests a couple of times. People report levelling up once per Death Projector kill, and Kurast 3000 BA and Khalimgrad are nice experience areas as well.

Changing the number of skill points per level is not possible without third party code plugins, by the way.

I was going to post a wall of text about how they picked the most popular mods and only for the games they actually own. Then I saw Median 2008 as a honourable mention under 'old skool classics'. Now that I've thought about it some more, the awards are actually fine, other than the fact that their honourable mentions don't get enough coverage. ;)

Just kidding. :D

Diablo 3 has been in development since the second game was released, true. But then two years later most of the developers left, and founded Flagship Studios (Hellgate London). Blizzard pretty much had to start over from scratch.

In a recent interview with the author of some Diablo/Warcraft books, he revealed that he was not working for a 'dead game', a nice giveaway that D3 may well be in the works now. Blizzard said they had 'three unannounced titles', too.

But Blizzard will not announce anything until WoW starts to die, because they get very rich off the monthly fees. At least one more expansion for WoW is planned after Burning Crusade, possibly two. Only after that might a D3 be released.

Then again, we have Hellgate London now, which is being made by the people who made D2. It is a futuristic action RPG with FPS elements, but including random levels and loot and character classes and a skill tree, with easier aiming than a real FPS and battle.net-like multiplayer. Just forget Diablo 3.
