OK so my facts aren't all going to be right, bear with me, i became a fan of stargate during season 4 of atlantis and since then ive bought all five seasons and seen each episode of SGA at least 3 or 4 times so im pretty good with most things SGA but ive only seen probably a third of SG-1 although im on a mission to see them all before its to late. So if all of my facts arent right, let me know but all in all i have a fairly firm grasp of all things stargate. So now that we have all come to terms with the fact that i have no life lets get on with it. lol

Ok so one question i have always had is why on earth is it the US Air Force in control of the gate, now the first thing that comes to mind is the fact that the stargate is dealing with alien technology with the capability (by accident or not) to travel through time and space, through some level of subspace.

What does that have to do with the air force? Good question, my answer is going to be that the purpose of the stargate program is to seek out allies and alien technology that can benefit mankind and help defend themselves from the Goa'uld. Once again, what does that have to do with the airforce? Well in all reality it doesn't, other then the fact that the Cheyenne Mountain Complex (actually called theCheyenne Mountain Operations Center) is operated by the airforce, as part of the North American Aerospace Defence Command, and is located next to the Peterson Air Force Base in colorado springs. So once again why the airforce? Because the Cheyenne Mountain Complex is the place that is for sure capable of withstanding a nuclear war so naturally you would want the gate under that protection and also if it came to it the place you would command the nation from in the event of a nuclear war or in the stargate world, a goa'uld invasion. So because the gate is housed in an airforce controlled complex is the reason that it is placed under the jurisdiction of the Air Force.

Now this actually works to the advantage of the world when intergalactic ships are built later on in the series, because the air force would be the ones controlling these ships, its helps to have had them in the loop throughout the history of the stargate.

Now the stargate isn't actually only operated by and with USAF personelle. The Marines, and the Army play an active role in off world operations and the defence of the program.

All and all, its under thier jurisdiction because of the fact that its operated out of an Air Force facility and the airforce would be the best suited branch of the military to stave off an alien invasion. End of story.

I hope to post a few more of these even though they probably wont be read. lol But oh well thats blogging.
