actually. did you talk to Jones? He got the heightmap and texture map for port valdez from the BC2 files. I thinking making a new map to imitate BC2 would be awesome.
When I get time later, someone should remind me to retexture this map. It is fun, but could use a facelift using a rendered terrain texture.

The 1st version was bf3. so I would avoid using that one for legal reasons. while p4f models are okay. If you are confused, the model that has the bullet texture mixed with shot guns and a grenade texture is teh bf3 model. (dont use that for a mod!) while the model with the bullet texture in the magazine texture is the p4f one, which is okay to use in bf2.
I think the EOtech's reticule could be narrowed since most people will be playing in wide screen, which warps many HUD reticules horizontally. Looks great tho.

If you look at many rebel groups unless they get an organized military defector to donate their tanks they are not likely to have complex weapons like that. Now mounting a rocket launcher to a pick up may be more likely. Maybe using ones like the HJ-8 or TOW or trying to rig some helicopter rocket pods to a truck mount?

I like the slightly darker one, but i think the contrast in some of those grey back ground should be a little more so they arent completely lost in the distance fog.

You can make a special impact effect for snow or ice particles. But youd also need to make new materials for all the hit detections.

All I know is the carrying handle's rail locking knobs are painfully obvious that they are the same texture as the forward assist, and that bothers me. I'm all for mesh hacking but I would change that.

I like the new size of the radar, and I get the whole GPS hud thing, but the size of the GPS' border is large enough it is kind of distracting.
The more space it takes up the less a player can see in their peripheral (sides). It would be nice to make the zoomed version have the GPS boarder, but the mini map to have as little as possible. That's just my opinion.
It has potential, but that smashed mag makes it look like you scaled a pmag model. So I would use a mp5 mag to make it look less like a mesh hack.

No I don't think he is talking about the stock, but the barrel (although the stock is m4 style too). The m16a4 has a 20 inch barrel and looks quite a bit different. This looks more like a custom AR variant with a 18" to 15", which really isn't a bad thing. Maybe you should consider doing research on what kind of weapon systems you want to make. Also you can always just ask me, I was issued a m16a4 when I was in the Marines. :P

just fyi: the military does use xbox controllers for oportating UAV's and other robotic vehicles because it is usb cable that can be plugged into any of the robot operating computers.

Alright. Maybe just playing with the color levels and saturation would help a lot. Also if you wanted to be real picky you could remove the flag patch, since Marines don't really ware those, but DICE didn't bother to ask. Maybe add an IR reflector instead?
It doesn't look like MARPAT. I've worn MARPAT for over 4 years when I was in the Marines and this is not MARPAT green. This is the USA's digi camo unless the texture colors got screwed up.

I like it. I just prefer not to have suppressors on my rifles, since all they do is lower the muzzle velocity. Just my personal opinion.

Talk to some of the gui experts on BF2 and see if it is possible to switch sights on weapons. IE: irons sights to acog to red dot to holo sights.

Why don't you keep them both? Turn one into a larger caliber version with 20 rounds and the other version with a smaller caliber with more rounds and higher rate of fire. Simlar to an AR15 compared to an AR 10 or 5.56mm NATO VS a 7.62mm?

I like the helmet HUD, but the gun arm seems to be really close to the center. I think if you moved it slightly more right it would feel more like the Samus arm gun. A swinging animation would make it more believable also, or a moving of the left hand to hold/ brace the gun during charged shots, might look pretty cool.

Well not really undetailed poly wise, but texture-wise. Even the newest RTS CnC3 series are using models with similar poly counts, but a good texture is what really counts. I am sure it is a WIP and will get better with time.

Nice Model, but the turret looks slightly too far forward. Also not to be too nit picky, but marines don't use Bradleys, the army does. If you want an IFV for USMC I'd suggest LAV 25s, but I'm sure the Bradley will work for the mod though.

The thumb looks broken/ bent. I don't see the appeal in flipping off in an idle animation, maybe making a weapon slot animation for a taunt to flip someone off, similar to the salutes that PR has.

Silencers on a light machine gun? It wouldn't really work. Even on rifles the things you put on the barrel to lower the noise are not 'silencers' they are 'sound suppressors'. They make a 5.56 nato sound like a 22. It's still loud, just not as loud. Silencers only work on pistols and short range because they are combined with 'sub sonic' rounds that travel less then the speed of sound (unlike most other bullets) and drastically cut back on the range and kinetic energy in the round. Sub sonic rifle rounds for a light machine gun is kind of comical.

you 2 must be doing something wrong then, i can install bf2 on any cheap laptop and it will run fine. maybe you need to configure it properly, or you have other conflicts with the engine

Can you break down the downloads into a 1 to 2 gb packages? so like mod client and server files in one, and then maps in broken up groups. 12 gb in 1 d/l is a heck of a zip or an installer for some systems. Maybe a torrent of the folder, (not a mega zip) would help people out.
In order to use SF content you need them to be referenced as dependencies (a reference to SF folder requiring that SF be installed). If you do not and include them in your mod's install/files then it is an illegal distribution of content. Just FYI.
Your mod, it looks interesting, but you should add some other low requirement content too, like 3rd party or coop supported maps as an extra download. That way players have more content and wont have to do it them selves since most players are not modders.

Are those soldier models from a b42 mod? The 1p hands looks kind of bulbous and cartoon-ish in proportions. Not to bad mouth anything this mod is working on, since I am a fan of the work. I was just wondering if any one else noticed the same thing I am seeing?

The p4f 1p skin for the rifle is only 1024 by 512, and then a 512^2 iron sight texture, and a 512 x 256 magazine texture. How do I know? Because I ported it. If your textures do not match these descriptions then you are most likely using the bf3 model. You might want to think about that. All in all it is a good skin and I appreciate your work.

Well, just to let you know. I cleaned my rifle before every op (granted we had a heads up), but all it took was hitting the desert at a high speed and the dust got everywhere (which is why you never left your weapon wet with CLP or it would gum up). I don't know about having "dents" but I will tell you those metal NATO STAG mags will jam with the smallest dent, so if that is a dent, that guy should probably throw that mag away and use a different one in better condition... But then again I wasn't in the army.

I like it, but it looks like you have A2 handguards/ rail system with an a1 iron sight (non removable). Kind of strange.
Reloads are too quick and magical. The concept is good, but a more realistic one at a time reload would be better. Also when running an alternating arm swing would look much more realistic instead of a mirrored swing.

According to wikipedia contributions: Hellfire missiles have about 20lbs of HEAT in a shape charge. That's a lot when compared to either a 2.3 lb or a 4.8 lb HE configuration per each Hydra rocket.
In comparison a c4 charge is probably a 1.25 lb brick. But C4 may be more powerful per weight than HE materials.

I used to like aime points untill I used them and their battle zero (calibration) wore off easily from vibrations during shooting. They are horrible pieces of junk(at least in real life) and there are many other optics/ sights out there that are much better, such as holo sights and acogs. I guess if I did not use them before, I still might think things like this were cool.
Also after firing a m82 barrett, I don't see how firing this standing up is even (effectively) possible, but alas it is *just* a game, so might as well give the infantry mini guns.

Yeah the IS-3 has a pretty front profile.
Just to inform you that magazin style illustrated is not the scar H configuration, but the SCAR L 5.56 mm NATO mag configuration. A scar H has 7.62mm NATO and it not as banana shaped and is thinner Z axis wise.
Most of those maps are on the border. It would be cool to have one reflect the mod title and be in like LA, San Diego, Phoenix, or maybe El Paso?

What weapon is that?
They are very nice animations, but I can tell you from experience (I was in the USMC infantry) that you never take your dominant hand off the pistol grip during a 'combat reload'. To rack the charging handle back you use the same hand you put the magazine in with (non dominant hand), also very rarely do you use the forward assist. Thats what they teach and drill into you, and it is for a purpose. Just something to consider.

That is probably because this was made for a version of spring dating back to 2005.

Looks great, but it also looks a little heavy for a sniper rifle. It looks more like a medium to long range battle rifle, because a sniper rifle would be a little more stripped down with an elongated barrel, and not so front heavy with heat shields, a large grip, and extra long rail system... but that's just my opinion.
