Oh. I guess I was imagining the gameplay similar to the old windows game "gravity well" which sounded similar but was 2d and gravity affected all objects. There is a modern remake of it called Terra Colony if you are interested in seeing what I mean.

Yup, I own one. This is how you attach a secure rail system to an AK type rifle. Rails on the dust cover would never hold a zero and would be inaccurate after a few mags. The other alternative is a large over hanging monolithic rail system coming off the gas block, but that is usually too far forward for scopes.
Middle east settings seem to be popular these days but without being political maybe a more universal theme would be better. Maybe something like eastern European? Let me dig up some buildings pics to brain storm and see what you think.
try avoiding any texture touching the edge of the map or else you get those straight edges that look funky. Also I'd decrease the transparency a lot in order to make a darker red.

Umm... that's an NVG mount. It flips up to get it out of your face when you arnt using it. Helmet cams (rarely issued) are mounted on the side of the helmet (usually shooters dominant side).
If you had the time would you consider trying your skills on some mid grade architecture models that would be open source friendly (like Creative Commons:Non Commercial)?
I would be thinking primarily for the Refractor 2 engine so not highly detailed, and by being ccnc many non commercial indy artists and game developers could use it granted with proper crediting to the author.

Pretty. The ships are kind of cartoony, but cute, and the space environment is homeworld-ish which is nice.

I like the starship troopers look with an overly rounded AK style banana mag.
I like the tommy gun grip, and the design is pretty being scifi-ish bullpup but the sights might need a riser to get a better view into. Maybe a holo-sight optic would fit it better?

When the game is more refined I would suggest limiting the size of the weapon and weapon animations to a lower and less obscuring position so you don't lose that right hand field of view, that is if the resolution is large enough to support it.

Zombie textures are nice, explosions look shopped in there, because difference in quality, the AK looking rifle's point blank texture looks like too much renderclouds and poor details. Theme seems like Terminator meets resident evil? Might be able to spin it decently.

Nice planet system effects.
Structures are not built per say but are captured. There are heavy machines guns, anti tank missile launchers, mortars, anti vehicle lasers, bunkers, sand bagged fighting positions, and watch towers that already in the game but more may come.
There is an infantry role, the 'Infiltator' who can place an explosive change to destroy defenses, the trick is getting close enough to do so.
In the "Demolition" game mode, players can also command 1 demolition expert unit which can place a bomb, which is much more powerful than the infiltrator's explosive charges, and is mainly used for destroying the enemy radar stations to pass the game objective and win the round.

That is "Bubblegum crisis" The OVA from the late 1980s early 90s. They later redid the series, but I haven't caught it yet. The art in the original you can see inspired many other sources such as Palladium books artists other anime/ game art designs.

Graphics are slightly better than my first combat sim: Birds of Prey, a dos game from 1995 or 94 by one of Electronic Arts predecessor companies. Was a great game where you could fly hundreds of aircraft (NATO and Soviet) with a lot of hard point options. It had everything from test piloting the x15 to break a speed record, to flying the sr71 over enemy targets to get reconnaissance photos, to close air support. Man I should see if it works on dos box.

Shells can't home in on moving targets, which is why in the late 20th century missiles became the choice of anti tank weapons. You should discuss some game plan concepts with the s44 team and some of the other arm chair generals, I am sure they have plenty of good ideas to share, even if you don't want to use them all.
I like the model, but it doesn't seem to fit in the "modern warfare" concept, unless this is maybe somewhat in the not too distant future, since it is not a real life unit? Artillery cannons aren't used so much as anti vehicle weapons any more, since missiles and rockets are much more effective, but they are still used as indirect fire support. I am not criticizing the game, it looks good and promising, I just hoped to bring about some thoughtful planning on the game design.

I don't see how you have balanced the weapons. All you have changed was the HP for the soldier classes and the damage for the AT missiles. It does play nicely though.

This was originally more of an APC/IFV like the LAVs or strykers you see IRL, but I modified the gun to be larger to act as a support gun.

Blood looks fake/ cheesy, and honestly if you want blood add splatter effects, don't put blood on the knife texture. No one is going to sheath their bloody knife.

Well at speed at least. I was in a unit with LAV's and before they added a ton of extra armor to them they were nimble. Especially in the desert.

Having personally experienced the weapon systems simulated in the video I have to say you got it right. Sounds, looks, and rate of fire is exactly how they would be used. I haven't seen that in other mods.

Or, it could be the style for that particular part of the map. For instance a military control point probably doesn't need places for people to hide behind, and would be rather bland.

you need a class with an nearly unlimited supply of grappling hooks. would be great for the maps with the floating islands. Also is it possible to rig the vehicles to be able to have grappling hooks attached. IE have players hitch a ride on the wings of a C 130?

Yes, I also worked on this mod for spring. Recently I have been taking a break form spring, as some functions of it can be frustrating. After the final release of this mod, I think I will go back to working on the spring version. One thing I a dislike about spring is it constantly under new development and doesn't have a solid status like TA does. I think once they have more of the engine bugs and layout worked out spring will be a more powerful and fitting engine to go over to.

I didnt say anything about permissions. I was referring to the term "mini mod" which general refers to a mod that uses mostly content in dependencies from elsewhere (hence smaller size) and contains mostly tweaks. I dont think there is really an issue with the mod at all, I just really didnt agree to the terminology.
For instance one form of a mini mod is a mod that tweaks game content from the vanilla game, or from a larger mod (like PR single player mod).
This is in no way a "Mini Mod". A mini mod would actually mod the AIX content.

The 1st version was bf3. so I would avoid using that one for legal reasons. while p4f models are okay. If you are confused, the model that has the bullet texture mixed with shot guns and a grenade texture is teh bf3 model. (dont use that for a mod!) while the model with the bullet texture in the magazine texture is the p4f one, which is okay to use in bf2.
I think the EOtech's reticule could be narrowed since most people will be playing in wide screen, which warps many HUD reticules horizontally. Looks great tho.

If you look at many rebel groups unless they get an organized military defector to donate their tanks they are not likely to have complex weapons like that. Now mounting a rocket launcher to a pick up may be more likely. Maybe using ones like the HJ-8 or TOW or trying to rig some helicopter rocket pods to a truck mount?

I like the slightly darker one, but i think the contrast in some of those grey back ground should be a little more so they arent completely lost in the distance fog.

-Ability to move the minimap, since it can get in the way of combat, and/or maybe make it semi transparent.

You can make a special impact effect for snow or ice particles. But youd also need to make new materials for all the hit detections.

All I know is the carrying handle's rail locking knobs are painfully obvious that they are the same texture as the forward assist, and that bothers me. I'm all for mesh hacking but I would change that.

I like the new size of the radar, and I get the whole GPS hud thing, but the size of the GPS' border is large enough it is kind of distracting.
The more space it takes up the less a player can see in their peripheral (sides). It would be nice to make the zoomed version have the GPS boarder, but the mini map to have as little as possible. That's just my opinion.
It has potential, but that smashed mag makes it look like you scaled a pmag model. So I would use a mp5 mag to make it look less like a mesh hack.

No I don't think he is talking about the stock, but the barrel (although the stock is m4 style too). The m16a4 has a 20 inch barrel and looks quite a bit different. This looks more like a custom AR variant with a 18" to 15", which really isn't a bad thing. Maybe you should consider doing research on what kind of weapon systems you want to make. Also you can always just ask me, I was issued a m16a4 when I was in the Marines. :P

just fyi: the military does use xbox controllers for oportating UAV's and other robotic vehicles because it is usb cable that can be plugged into any of the robot operating computers.

Alright. Maybe just playing with the color levels and saturation would help a lot. Also if you wanted to be real picky you could remove the flag patch, since Marines don't really ware those, but DICE didn't bother to ask. Maybe add an IR reflector instead?
It doesn't look like MARPAT. I've worn MARPAT for over 4 years when I was in the Marines and this is not MARPAT green. This is the USA's digi camo unless the texture colors got screwed up.

Why don't you keep them both? Turn one into a larger caliber version with 20 rounds and the other version with a smaller caliber with more rounds and higher rate of fire. Simlar to an AR15 compared to an AR 10 or 5.56mm NATO VS a 7.62mm?

I like the helmet HUD, but the gun arm seems to be really close to the center. I think if you moved it slightly more right it would feel more like the Samus arm gun. A swinging animation would make it more believable also, or a moving of the left hand to hold/ brace the gun during charged shots, might look pretty cool.

Well not really undetailed poly wise, but texture-wise. Even the newest RTS CnC3 series are using models with similar poly counts, but a good texture is what really counts. I am sure it is a WIP and will get better with time.

Nice Model, but the turret looks slightly too far forward. Also not to be too nit picky, but marines don't use Bradleys, the army does. If you want an IFV for USMC I'd suggest LAV 25s, but I'm sure the Bradley will work for the mod though.

The thumb looks broken/ bent. I don't see the appeal in flipping off in an idle animation, maybe making a weapon slot animation for a taunt to flip someone off, similar to the salutes that PR has.

Silencers on a light machine gun? It wouldn't really work. Even on rifles the things you put on the barrel to lower the noise are not 'silencers' they are 'sound suppressors'. They make a 5.56 nato sound like a 22. It's still loud, just not as loud. Silencers only work on pistols and short range because they are combined with 'sub sonic' rounds that travel less then the speed of sound (unlike most other bullets) and drastically cut back on the range and kinetic energy in the round. Sub sonic rifle rounds for a light machine gun is kind of comical.

you 2 must be doing something wrong then, i can install bf2 on any cheap laptop and it will run fine. maybe you need to configure it properly, or you have other conflicts with the engine
