Well there were parts of On a Rail that were good, but it was overshadowed by the really convoluted and confusing parts.

I think BM's On a Rail was really a step up, except it was too short. In the original it felt like the old missile silo was miles away, like you really traveled far, while in BM it didn't feel like that.

I think with the new ideas and redesigned areas of BM's on a rail + some of the old set pieces and segments of HL1's OAR it could find a nice middle ground so that it's longer and gives a feeling of a journey without dragging on like the original did.

The second option would be kind of arrogant don't you think, as yes maybe they didn't think up the game, but the entire team still put just as much hard work as other mods, if not more, to try and deliver a polished and stellar product.

I personally fail to see how remaking one of the most solid and fun games of all time serves to somehow make them less deserving of recognition just because it's a remake.

Some of the things Hexen 2 did would really be great to have in the mod - tons of breakable objects, and weaponry like the powered up scarab gun from the assassin, with how it lifts up and rips apart enemies. Just ideas like that could really go a long way towards making the gameplay more fun.

They provide the .fgd file to make maps with this mod, so if you can find people you could probably make a "map pack" for black mesa recreating those mods

Just to make sure, can it run HL2 and its episodes well? Or barely? Because if you have trouble running EP2, this mod will run worse. But if EP2 runs fine you should be good.

I'd rather have them take the time to make a properly realized Xen chapter thats engaging and enjoyable while I get to play most of the game, then if they just remake the original levels with their design flaws and make them prettier so they could release it all at once.

Is the Tau cannon set up to use the actual HL2 hands? A lot of other versions I've seen of the tau use the same model that has its own "set" and doesn't work with custom hand skins, so you get all other weapons having that cool hand skin you got, and then the tau has the default crappy hands

Also that's awesome that you made the gluon gib. It just wouldn't be as awesome as HL1's without the ability to gib things.

Question about weapons - will they have idle animations? I always hated how HL2's stock weapons almost all had no idle anims, they looked so lifeless compared to HL1, since HL1 had gordon play with his weapons or stretch his fingers, etc.
