Ah, another lost soul eh? Welcome to hell. What? I'm not funny? Ah, whatever. So, I'm just some up-and-coming little punk, don't mind me. Why did I say that? Good question. I'm completely unskilled, but hey, I can learn. Just need some time, is all. Feel free to drop a message my way, I'll try respond as quickly as possible. No promises.

I'm surprised this isn't a Terry trap.

HontE Remastered

Mod review

I gotta say, I'm impressed. No longer does Doom 2 have blocky light depth, just smooth OpenGL lights. I kinda always wanted to see what an only OGL lit map pack would truly be like, and here it is. There are even quite a number of tweaks and additions to the maps themselves, but they're still completely recognisable. All together, it's a solid map remaster and I can imagine having a ton of fun playing through Doom 2 again, like this.

Shame it runs like crap on my PC. :v

Brutal Doom

Mod review

Right, last review I wrote about a year ago was a complete kiss-***. Hence this re-review.

So, this mod does deserve a high rating. It's a refreshing addition that has pretty much carved the future of Doom by itself. It influenced the new Doom, with glory kills and blood all over. The gameplay is satisfying with added difficulty elements and more in-depth resource management. Then the high quality graphics and audio just tie it all together with assets blend together well, altogether creating a quite grim atmosphere.

Honestly, this mod is excellent. I, personally, have nothing wrong with it. Yet having said that, it has it's fair share of flaws. No game is perfect.

One of my problems is variety. It doesn't have enough, and this is why I prefer to use either Brutal Pack or Project Brutallity, to spice things up a bit. Now I'm not saying that can't be changed, it can with mods. But, I don't want to bog the game down with various mods that potentially won't fit in or are unnecessary.

So overall, it's well crafted, obviously for the sake of re-imagining Doom purely out of dedication to the game. It's also well polished these days, but in my opinion, it needs to offer something it's "successors" don't. Well, there's map megawads, but I mean internally; something within Brutal Doom.

P.S.: Yes, I used my opinions, deal with it. You can have yours, I can have mine.
