Its passed steam greenlight but I have not yet put it on steam as I am still refining the game some more before it hits steam.

Working hard on graphics for the next couple of versions.

Water (blue) erosion of the rock (red) into sediment (green). the result is used to generate the maps you see in Brutal Nature.

Id like to see one time payment options instead of a sub.

I won't allow ads due to the risk they pose to my computer and the fact that websites and ad providers are still not held liable for the damages they do, so they have 0 incentive to screen the ads.

Hi. Developer of Brutal Nature here. Just got greenlit on steam, have several players putting in 20+ hours each into the game, yet I still think I'll wait before going Early Access on steam so the game can be more polished.

Right now you can play the game for free and decide if you wish to buy it or not, and you only get visual elements (different avatars) right now for buying it, so its fair between free and paying players.

I may not be getting as many sales as I would like, but I know everyone who has bought my game really wanted to buy it and support me, and isn't that what Early Access is supposed to be about?

I am also very impressed with Factorio, an 'early access' game (Not yet out on steam, sold direct from their website, but still in beta) that has seen lots of progress and best of all, they are *fixing bugs first*

IMO one of the biggest problems with games today is game breaking bugs. I have seen AAA games that people quit within 30 minutes because of stupid bugs, even when the game seemed absolutely awesome otherwise. So a bugs first approach like Factorio is to be commended.

I like the face and the way the eyes turned out in game, Sorta looks like neko (cat) eyes, and yet looks really good without the cat ears, like how in anime some people get cateyes when they are doing something devious (like chasing down a dragon with a baseball bat)

Could use maybe another attack animation, or a combo attack animation. Something add some variety to the swinging.

Yep, but each has their own take on the issues of survival. I am trying for more complexity and realism in the crafting system, as well as decent gun action.

Thanks. Getting animations working was really tough. Very worth it however.

No they are not hostile towards each other but I have considered adding it. NPC infighting is so fun to watch.

Yes. You had to join such that 10 seconds server time occurred between your connection and the client finishing initialization (About a 1 second window). Was very difficult to track down but really needed to be, not being able to see NPC's is a huge bug and I give bug fixes a very high priority. I had only ever seen it happen maybe 5 times in several thousand logins but its a great feeling to have it fixed.

Being able to reproduce a bug is 9/10ths of the work to being able to fix it, so this one was very hard to fix.

Oh, I forgot to mention that killing NPC's results in increased NPC aggression range for all NPC's of that type, resetting when you die. So the better you are at killing NPC's the harder the NPC's become as more and more attack you.

You start off with a pistol, knife and grapple pistol. All can be easily modded out with just a text editor. there are very scarce chests that contain ammo, but they can be reduced/removed/edited.

other then that, crafting melee and ranged weapons takes quite some time and a lot of resources. making ammo requires medium level crafting before you can make it and requires a half dozen ingredients.

The better weapons that are pretty much needed to defeat the new spider NPC in the caves can only be crafted and take quite a few hours before you can build one.

Also, there will be no zombies.

Very cool. I love the idea of talking to the developer while playing. Lets you ask questions that come up in game play and avoid getting stuck by getting hints and suggestions on what to try next.

PS: Thanks for covering Brutal Nature in the news!

You need port 1234 open and forwarded (UDP) to run a public server.

If you just click single player, it will run a local server that other people can't join.
Its best to name your server something unique. those are likely other peoples servers. The announce server tries to screen out servers that can't be connected to but it is not always successful.

You have to run the server.exe manually to start a server that other people can join, then login via username/pass and select the server from the server list.
