So it's not just a fool's hope then? :D
Yes and most of all BE FORMAL and POLITE! YOu are adressing official people here!
THIS is how a letter to WB should be like. I don't think you should ask for their assistance though, they won't take you seriously.
Onward to /v/ ! Hah, maybe they could DDoS their site and upload the promotional video when the times comes..................or maybe they will just spam it with porn.
The team should have sent them instead but oh well.
Even if the petition won't get past say 5000 signs, you could use that as an argument that the mod IS indeed not a threat to their profits, especially since so much effort has gone into the campaign.
I also think we've made our point on the Riders of Rohan video, time to move to something with much more viewers I think like The Hobbit trailer.
I have just posted a thread on Skyrim Nexus bring more people to our noble cause!
Taking the innitiative on the LOTRO clip is a good step but it has low views(to be expected) I suggest going here instead Youtube.com
How exactly have they won?I know your lawyer offered free legal help to a lot of Harry Potter(Also owned by WB which is a plus) fanfic cases but has she won any?
This is what I sent Recently WB sent a C&D to Middle Earth RP, probably the biggest Skyrim TC. If you want to help, go here Moddb.com
The team should send TB an email for the Mailbox series as well.
Put that in the news section, pages move fast around here.
Can the devs pls put all videos where we thumbs up MERP comments in the news section?
I think we'd need AT LEAST 100.000 preferably somewhere around 500.000 so spread the word!
Do you think the MERP fans should mass tweet major gaming figures like Angry Joe?
Yeah and get Skyrim Nexus to sponsor you as well. Things are surprisingly quiet around there.
Almost 1000 signs in 1 day :D, I'm quite confident we could get 50000 in one month but something tells me that won't be enough - we'd likely need at least 500.000. Spread the word!Light the beacons!
I have another idea! What if you made a video in which the team members answer questions a lot of people are likely to ask? For instance: "What is MERP and why should I care about it" "How can I help?" "Isn't it legal if it's nonprofit?" etc. I know words can have a powerful impact on how people think but a video can be MUCH more convincing if done properly. You could even use some clips from the movies with Theoden's speeches ("What can man do against such reckless hate" is one of my favorites) and weave them with what you say.
People can no longer see the Facebook and Twitter links in the latest new section. I think you should put those links too.
Just look at their trailer lol...what a poor attempt at immitating the movies. Youtube.com
Ah, now I see. There is an expansion called "Riders of Rohan" for LOTRO coming out tommorow...
Lets all make LOTRO accounts (it's F2P) and spam the petition link in trade chat!
And how would they know that you started a "different" project with a different name under different usernames?
I say this again, the wording in the twitter posts and especially the petition should be more NEUTRAL even if what you say IS true. If I were an important person who didn't know about the mod and saw words like "corporate greed" I wouldn't take you seriously and you might annoy WB even more.
I would also get the guys who run the NExus site to make videos to gain support for your mod, right now things are surprisingly quiet around there.
How is the situation by the way? Does your lawyer think you have a decent shot at it?
I have another idea. Since they probably sent the C&D because of LOTRO, maybe some diehard MERP fans who play LOTRO could unsubscribe. The only thing is that WB would need to know... I wish I had an active LOTRO account just to unsub in order to spite them.
I would also send an email for TB's Mailbox series, it would get the mod a LOT of attention plus he might support you as well in some way.
I was actually saying that the TITLE should be in elven, the copyrighted content would be slightly changed (Frodo becomes Forod for instance or something entirely different) and when they release it they also separately and anonymously release a file that changes the name back. Check this out En.wikipedia.org
Sure, it's a parody but the author also sold it.
Well, you could only do VO for the patched version.
Well, that way you're not REALLY changing them, just using a loophole to dodge their demands and then you change them back when the time comes.
Why not a name in the elven language? It doesn't have to be the name of a character or even just a symbolic name that sounds good.
Also, what do you think about what I said in page 2? Would changing all copyrighted names and then releasing a batch file that replaces those names with the original ones work?
