A kickstarter for a licence COULD work. I am not sure whether it is legal though.
Then the fans themselves can make the patch with the supervision of the MERP team.
I'm surprised Skyrim Nexus hasn't written an article about this yet. Have you contacted them?
I meant, CTRL + F sorry!
I've already suggested that but they said it's too much work! I don't get it, right now all you have is dialogue and names right? If so, wouldn't it be possible to quickly find the infringing stuff CTRL + S style and then add some sort of flag for the patch files? You also said that this would be problematic for the VA, but no VA would be a reasonable compromise for us and since the mod is so big and popular, the fans would surely do it for you.
I was going to suggest that :D. So how is your lawyer doing? She hasn't given up has she?

MERP = Middle Earth Roleplaying Project is one of the biggest and certainly the most ambitious Skyrim mod out there. It's been in development for quite a while and recently Warner Bros. sent them a Cease and Desist letter, forcing them to stop all development on the mod (or rather game). The messages you see on Youtube on popular clips such as this one are part of a campaign with the purpose of gaining awareness and help for the situation. The petition has currently gathered over 16000 votes!
I bet he's very busy, so it may take time.
One reminder: Please don't make multiple e-mails to cheat votes. We have to be fair in this!
Here is the text I propose posting on Youtube clips as to avoid confusion: MERP = Middle Earth Roleplaying Project is one of the? biggest and certainly the most ambitious Skyrim mod out there. If the only thing you say is "SAVE MERP!" People might think you are referring to this Youtube.com aaaand we don't want that.
Damn right they aren't!
Yeah, it's been almost 2 months since you've received the C%D and I am really curious to know how things are developing. Is the situation improving or getting worse? When do you think something big will happen?
Not true, in 2004 they cancelled a System Shock 2 remake for Doom 3.
If you are going to do that, then I suggest you change to boycott to only GAMES, he might not be thrilled when he sees "refrain from purchasing any Lord of the Rings branded products that Warner Bros publish or support." because that also includes his films.
Here is anothers set of clips from The Hobbit. Gandalf is awesome again (no big news) Youtube.com
Ooooh, I can't wait for this. I absolutely LOVED the unique atmosphere of the first game and the realistic feel it had. I only hope it will have more sidequests and more stuff to do.
I was thinking about sending one too but I still think the MERP team should be the ones. I bet he's getting a LOT of letters that require his immediate attention now that The Hobbit movies are so close to completion. He might get annoyed if everyone sends him letters.
Yes, I cannot stress this enough, he might get annoyed, DO NOT DO THAT! If anything, the MERP team should write him a well-worded letter as Buffo_Boffin suggested.
Did anyone else read that with Gandalf's voice :D?
Hey, I've just remembered something! There is a program called iPiSoft, that offers cheap mocap Ipisoft.com . All you need is a Kinect or preferably 4 PS eye cameras because they are cheaper(4 cost 80$) and have better tracking. Here is a demonstration of what it can do: Youtube.com
Seriously...STOP calling it MERP and give some background info on it, people have no idea what you're talking about!
Great! Also, the new Hobbit trailer is up and...is it just me or is there something amiss about it? I mean, I really liked the first one but there's something about the second one that bugs me.
Have you guys spoken with the guys from The One Ring yet?
Yes and most people don't know how lucky we are to have EVEN THOSE films. Could you imagine someone else than PJ directing the films? Someone else might have hired a terrible cast, put in gratuitous amounts of magic in it or worse, they could have made only ONE film.
Even if you don't like it as a LOTR movie, it's still awesome as a film and quite touching at times. I say it again, can you imagine someone else directing the films? What if it had been Michael Bay or someone equally terrible?
Well, not a lot of people know about your mod. What if you advertised it on popular 3D modelling sites? There's bound to be some animators there
Objectively speaking, do you think your mod reaches the bar set by Black Mesa or is it even better?
One more thing: Is there any chance the mod will be released this year? From your most recent tweet, I take it E1M3 is already in phase 2?
Uuuuuh, Doom has always been colorful and vibrant. The art direction in Doom 3, while quite amazing, had a big flaw: the colors were not very varied, and most rooms were gray.
Besides, if you take a look at E1M1 of the original Doom, you will see a LOT of color.
On a rail :D? Speaking of which, what did you think of Black Mesa?
Well, look at the bright side. The C&D spared them from pouring an enormous amount of utterly pointless effort in the mod due to the engine bug.
The vegetation and weapon/armor assets could prove useful to the modding community though.
Agreed, they can still use some work but they are much better than before.
Very cool! Again, it reminds me of Half Life, which is not a bad thing at all.
OH MY GOD!!!Incredible. You guys have really become better at this since Nehrim.
THAT is the definition of awesome!
This part could use more work.
This is the flaw I was talking about. The trees look like umbrellas!
Wow, this is incredible!
