Looking at Arkham Asylum, a good LOTR game is not out of the question. The real question is whether it will be a good adaptation of the book. You either make it open world (ideally like Skyrim) or you don't do it at all. This is because of the scope of the books.
I am not against not using assets from Black Mesa but are you going to at least make the zones that appear in both games look similar to Black Mesa in order to maintain consistency? It would be very weird if these zones were entirely different.
How about posting an update when sigs reach 30k?
PLEASE put this in the game Youtube.com
I really hated how every dungeon in Skyrim looked the same. There should have been less but more consistent dungeons. Are you guys taking this route?
Is there a chance that the mod might come this year?
ABSOLUTELY SPEECHLESS!!! This is so beyond anything Id has ever done. BRAVO! Look at all the pretty colors! This has the potential to be one the the best things to come out the Doom community. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of AA...that and the fact that it's gonna be pretty hard to make a BFG version.
Here's a little treat for you guys! Youtube.com
Agreed, they can still use some work but they are much better than before.
So beautiful! So divine!!! Are those textures with improved resolution I see and is that sky new? Can you tell us what graphical and immersion mods are you using for this mod? Again, this looks amazing!
Sending a letter to Tolkien's son would be a very very bad idea. He is very protective of his father's work and will enforce copyright for as long as he lives.
Hey guys, I have a question about LOTR that has been bugging me for a while. In the movies every gondorian soldier wore plate-mail but in the books there is hardly any mention of plate. Also, armor like that would have been very expensive and difficult to make so how did they mass produce them for soldiers? Of course, in the books we have Dwarves and Elves who were master craftsmen and plate armor could have been invented faster than in our world. Not only that but they also could have invented superior crafting techniques which could have made it cheaper.
Why did Tolkien insist on mail armor instead of plate? Was it because he disliked technological advancement? But mail was also a technological advancement. Was it because he wanted to portray a civilization before the Norman invasion? I also know that Beowulf was a major inspiration for him (which had swords and armor but was not medieval) and the influence can be easily seen in The Hobbit.
Nice update!Time for a little feedback. First, I am not sure about the new weapon sounds...they don't sound very powerful or meaty. Some diehard oldschool players might scoff at aiming down the sights or weapon lowering when sprinting.
I like the idea of scavenging! You could take inspiration from games such as Bioshock or System Shock 2. It would be cool if you also added money to buy stuff from vending machines (which you can hack)
Now that you are electing people for the closed Alpha, this game me an idea. Hosting the selection process on your own site is fine and dandy but not a lot of people know about your site. So how about making a post on popular Warcraft sites such as MMO-Champion? This way you can get more people, much more people would know about your mod and since it's such a big community, you might even get some extra talent!
Also, will the new sounds/music have better encoding? It sounds a bit off on my Sennheiser Headphones.
Hey guys, that animated 2D art from the music videos game me an idea. What do you think about making 2D flashbacks like in the Witcher?
I'm not sure about releasing them on by one...somehow it feels wrong. How about 3 by 3?
I think the one in the Warcraft 3 Human campaign selection screen is better but this one is really good, wish the author made a grunt model too.
In need of high quality 3D models that feel like Warcraft? Check this out Youtube.com
If you ask him he might even join your team!
That's an invitation for even more copyright issues. There is a mod for Skyrim that lets you select individual tracks so I'd use that instead.
I also have a few ideas for unit portraits(at least for orcs). The face of the new Thrall model is very detailed and looks very good, what if you took this face and used it as a template for other units? You'd just have to recolor it, add scars and facial hair.
I've already suggested that.Twice. Sadly they don't find it a very good idea. I don't really blame them, it's still risky. They also don't like the idea of making only the map (not named Middle Earth of course.)
I really hope you will be using music from the Dominance Offensive patch Youtube.com It REALLY sounds like Warcraft 3. Speaking of which, how about making a melee map based on that quest line? Since it is a melee map, you don't have to worry about lore.
I know you are making your own lore but how about using the good parts of WoW lore in your mod? The War of the Three Hammers, Ragnaros and Scarlet Crusade stuff is just a sample of the good stuff in WoW, and if it doesn't fit, you modify it. If you are using parts of WoW lore, how much?
But why are they doing this? What reason do they have to not give you a final answer especially since they are not downright ignoring you. Have you also asked them if you could continue making the mod if they lose?
Well, if that's the case, if WB loses then they could work on the first release while maintaining a low profile and the massively recruit people for other releases. What do you think?
Just in case you need some troll music Youtube.com
Since you are making this standalone why not buy a licence for the engine and make it commercial? It might cost, but would it be possible with Kickstarter?
Yeah, they would attract a LOT of trouble. Sorry for downvoting ElfFriend, mistake.
When I use the shotgun, there is a very weird thing coming from the left. It kind of looks like a shoulderpad.
Since you are working on a fantasy project, I suggest working on stuff that will be easily transferable to MERP.
Also, why do you think a response is taking so long? Do you think they are deliberately ignoring you?
Houghton Mifflin, the one by Harper Collins is twice as expensive which is crazy.
I have just bought the 50th Anniversary Edition of LOTR and I am also planning to buy a map of Middle-Earth. Unfortunately, there are a lot of maps on Amazon and very few are as detailed as I would like. I'd like it to be big, very detailed, beautifully illustrated and if possible contain auxiliary maps of important regions. Can you help me out? :)
Also, congratulations for getting 28000 signs, just 2000 more till 30000!
