I visit Skyscrapercity.com almost every day! I was never into architecture but somehow its fascinating to see those big projects grow, especially in Dubai and New York!
If you ever do a new map for Off-Limits and need some inspiration for a new iconic building, you should have a look at the Ryugyong Hotel from North Korea ;) I'm sure it would fit the Off-Limits universe and had a 'post-apocalyptic' look for decades, until they started construction again in 2008.

The source engine is getting a little old so starting a mod in 2009 is a bit late considering it takes years to complete it.

SinKing, all I can say is; thank you for your honest opinion. Personaly I like the end result a lot altought I agree that it could use some work. It's hard to say if this ship will make it in the final game(as with every other ship) but always keep in mind that those renders never represend what it will look like in the final game, its all WIP ;)
I want to add that contributors get constant feedback from Koshime and the other devs, I think Koshime even helped texturing this one.

and I don't understand why. It makes hissmall forelimbs (where the feathers were) less pathetic and it's a nice way to add some subtile (agressive) color. Trex was an ugly motherf*cker, like most scavengers, a couple of feahers are not going to make him look cute.
But I can understand your point about not being able to make everyone happy, notheless I will be happy with any dinosaur game, so I'm sure with this one too. As I said, I love Jurassic Park, thats what got me hyped about dinosaurs, and the hype never went over with me.
One last question: I'm sometimes getting tired of seeing the same kind of dinosaurs over and over again. There are many species that almost never get used but look at least as bad-*** as the over-the-top remakes you see most of the time; dinosaurs like Masiakasaurus, Therizinosaurus and Megaraptor.
Any plans of adding 'non-traditional' species?
We have a pretty good idea nowadays. We know more about the T-rex than we do about the blue whale. We know for example that Trex would never go into forest/jungles like most dinosaurs of its size. We know that he was probably a scavenger and not a hunter. We know that T-rex lived alone, while small raptors lived and hunted in pacs. Furthermore we know that T-rex and many other theropods (probaby all of them) had feathers, likely with agressive colors to scare enemies and attract mates.
So I guess you are going for the Hollywood remakes, since most people know them like that? Does that include Deinonychus that are named 'Velociraptor' (= dog-sized)?
Thats not a bad think, I love Jurrassic Park, just hope one day a game will have more realistic dinosaurs :)

Well thats what I've done for Infinity for 4 years now, I've never asked for votes on moddb, yet Infinity won a couple of MOTY awards. ;)
I have nothing against extra newsposts, hell I agree with the fact that it might be handy to make a newpost right now during the MOTY awards, but making it the topic of the news is just not done imo. Imagine every project on this website starting a newspost just to ask for a votes.
If your mod is good and the news about your mod is good, people will vote anyway without having to ask for it.
If you just make a newspost to be able to ask for votes, something is wrong! But thats just me being jealous, right?! ;)

In that case I won't be able to test the beta, since I only have a Mac atm. What if you not only support Mac in the future, but also dedicate a part of your service to Mac-games? Again something that’s never been done, and a way to differentiate from the other platforms. You would get the attention of the whole Mac community.

Space exploration with lots of planets, seamless space/terrain transition, you can do what you want, no walking feature but vehicles are in, and it has a name with "The Quest For" in it, and you accept contribution work?

This looks really great, nice work guys! Only thing I think looks wrong are the animations, they are lacking a bit. Make the animations look smooth and you have a winner (on graphics atleast)

So haven't you seen the gameplay vids? I'm not someone who complains a lot about games, and never have about Valve games but those gameplay vids look bad. The map looked bad and too right (daytime), characters look bland indeed. This looks more like an expantion or something, Hell, Im sure modders would come up with better stuff from what I've seen so far.
And just the short development time... you know that can't be good!
Also, I wa expecting a lot more content for the first one. I played L4D one week(maybe 2) because I got bored with the maps. I expected to get some more content like we get with every Vave game. If this is the amount of content they planned for the first it wasn't worth the money I payed for it!
I'm not going to buy the new one, probably not even if they make it better than the first.

No, we are not going to release any demos with planet exploration.
Yes it will have some effect on your ship, Im sure lava will damage your ship if you get too close and your ship can get dirty when flying in an atmosphere of a planet.
We are not going for underwater environments so submarines are out, subterranean bases(tunnels, caves, bunkers, sewers,...) on the other hand will be in the game. We are aiming to get some Descent-like gameplay in Infinity.

Keep in mind this is a work in progress. Yes, it's not perfect. There are tons of little problems, parameters to adjust. Things will improve over time. And keep in mind it's yet another "tech" demo: even if it looks nice, it's far, extremely far from being more than a rendering prototype.

Also, be carefull with the lightning on your textures, if the light is comming from the other side it would look strange.

They are lasers, they bounce off on reflective surfaces. Bullets dont bounce that way.

The model is 7200 triangles, which means the scene weights a total of 7.2 MTris. Thanks to LOD, the per-frame polycount is closer to half a million polys.
