Yes it has been asked before.
If you have the money and resources to buy and maintain it, you'll be able to fly any type of ship, this includes 'capital' ships.
Yes you can land on planets, but you can't "walk" on the surface. You only controle spaceships in this game. The spaceships will have first person and third person view modes.
Yes you will be able to 'build' things on planets and even in space (spacestations).
As you say we have evidence of raptors hunting together, theres no fossil finds that suggest they lived alone and it wouldn't be very logic for a hunter of its size. To hunt in a pack you need to be 'smart' and raptors where one of the smartest dinosaurs (unlike the trex with its very small brain). There is evidence of small theropod dinosaurs eating from giant dinosaurs, and unless they scavenged those couldn't have been killed by one raptor. Also, raptors nested together.
I think they where a lot like lions.
A lot of paleontologist claim that the Trex wasn’t build to hunt, and I agree with that. With it’s small forelimbs and its size I just can’t see it hunt for big animals or small fast dinosaurs. You talk about the big amount of energy it needed, I just can’t see it spending a lot of energy in hunting. It’s only real weapon was its jaw, that was clearly designed to crush bones, its not practical for hunting. When you are a hunter, big size works against you, that’s why most theropodes seamed to evolve into small streamlined animals with strong forelimbs and huge claws. Animals build for speed and clearly build to kill, Trex doesn’t represent anything like that.
You know, I would love to say Trex was hunter, I just don’t see it happen!
So far we have no evidence at all of Trex killing something.
*the following is not to claim dinosaurs SHOULD have feathers/colors in your game*
I remember an article on the National Geographic website claiming they discovered Trex had feathers on his forelimbs. This probably also the only reason why Trex still had its forelimbs, that seemed complete useless before the discovery. One thing is sure; he wasn’t covered in feathers/proto-feathers completely since they found scale impressions of Trex.
You are correct about the elephants not having hair, still it is believed that dinosaurs not only used feathers to control body temperature but also to attract mates and scare enemies with colors, like a lot of birds do. In this case feathers wouldn’t disappear completely because they would play a big role in the sexual selection of those animal. Of course those are still speculations.
Still while feathers for Trex might still be questionable, feathers for raptors are almost 100% sure. Still, even featherless dinosaurs probably used colors skin as a display (for example: triceratops and stegosaurus).
I think Dinosaurs where very colorful, unlike you see in most movies, and we clearly see that with birds today who are actually dinosaurs, as you know.
and I don't understand why. It makes hissmall forelimbs (where the feathers were) less pathetic and it's a nice way to add some subtile (agressive) color. Trex was an ugly motherf*cker, like most scavengers, a couple of feahers are not going to make him look cute.
But I can understand your point about not being able to make everyone happy, notheless I will be happy with any dinosaur game, so I'm sure with this one too. As I said, I love Jurassic Park, thats what got me hyped about dinosaurs, and the hype never went over with me.
One last question: I'm sometimes getting tired of seeing the same kind of dinosaurs over and over again. There are many species that almost never get used but look at least as bad-*** as the over-the-top remakes you see most of the time; dinosaurs like Masiakasaurus, Therizinosaurus and Megaraptor.
Any plans of adding 'non-traditional' species?
We have a pretty good idea nowadays. We know more about the T-rex than we do about the blue whale. We know for example that Trex would never go into forest/jungles like most dinosaurs of its size. We know that he was probably a scavenger and not a hunter. We know that T-rex lived alone, while small raptors lived and hunted in pacs. Furthermore we know that T-rex and many other theropods (probaby all of them) had feathers, likely with agressive colors to scare enemies and attract mates.
So I guess you are going for the Hollywood remakes, since most people know them like that? Does that include Deinonychus that are named 'Velociraptor' (= dog-sized)?
Thats not a bad think, I love Jurrassic Park, just hope one day a game will have more realistic dinosaurs :)
I already asked this a couple of times, but are you guys aiming for 'realististic' dinosaurs or the hollywood remakes (also behavior)?
Also, who traveled in time? The dinosaurs or the humans?
First: Great game!
Also: I would love to participate... after my examinations that just started
it has bumps
Nice contest, Divinity II: Ego Draconis is a very good game!

Thanks! ;)
black holes will be in the game, entering one will mean "game over"

Not ingame, but I'll probably post an ingame shot of it (with textures) that look atleast as good as this hi-poly model render soon!
So what answer do you expect from me? ;)
Self-illumination maps are supported so windows will probably light up at night. Unfortunatly it's not possible to make city lights visible in space.

One of my favorite concepts so far for this game. Really good!
Maybe because it's too lazy to run? ;)
they are giant chickens nonetheless xD with our without the small amount of feathers.
Yes you can expect weather on the planets and volcanos too. Supernovas are unlikely and if they occur will be part of the game story.
It's not a mod. And no, no new videos.
Most of the work being done now is less eye-candy related
It isn't developed by one guy! It does have only one programmer, but he gets help from a small team of developers and a lot of contributors.
only thing I dont like is the name of the mod, but media looks ok ;)
so mac probably too?

Looks great, its a shame the url on the concept doesn't work (yet)
looking perfect!
That sounds great! Thanks for taking the time to answer my question and good luck with the develpment of this game!

ofcourse! easy as hell! xD

What impresses me most is your motivation and dedication!
No feathers on the dinosaurs?
