Maybe, that will depends on how the game gets received.
For questions about the DRM and shipping fee you should contact Iceberg Interactive or Vertigo Games. I'm just the news poster dude ;) , unfortunately I can't answer those questions for you.
yes a IndieDB/ModDB blog is a great idea!
Yes you can play the game in your webbrowser, our screenshots are taken in one.
Puzzle adventure gameplay and the player will get a lot of freedom (non-linear gameplay). Yes, there will be interaction with other players but we haven't announced anything about that yet.
We are currently in pre-alpha stage, getting our artwork ready, testing out different things, nothing is set in stone so thats why we have'nt revealed a lot about the gameplay yet.
looking good so far
looks fantastic, nice artstyle!
I'm not the only one who had a complaint about the news post and I stated my opinion as a moddb visitor never as an Infinity member. It's sad to see you see my opinion about the news post as an act of jealousy and boycott from Infinity. I clearly stated multiple times that I like the project and am always happy to read news post about the development of the game. Never did I mention Infinity in all of this, and its not because Im managing the Infinity profile on moddb that I shouldnt be able to state my honest opinion about things on moddb.
Instead of discussion it in a mature manner with me you take it on a personal level and say I’m someone who don’t follows his "promises”, call me "jealous" and "angry" and feel you have to contact the Infinity team instead of me. Therefore I take this as a personal attack on me.
I've decided to resign from the Infinity moddb team(im not even part of the dev team), to make clear that this has nothing to do about them, and I don't want to get them involved in it further. I will talk to the moddb crew about this and I will contact you in private about this too!
I accept nothing less than your apologies to me and to the Infinity team, not for disagreeing with what I said about the newspost but for getting Infinity involved in this, which has clearly nothing to do with this!
Thats all I have to say about this in public, If you feel the need to insult me even more and or just want to have a normal discussion, you can always contact me: alphaorionis01(at)gmail.com
They made the promise to the people who care, that’s why there's an option to show the news post for people who "watch" your project on moddb. For other gamer’s modders and developers this is not interesting or relevant to what they hope to find on moddb.
And because I don’t like to see relevant news being bumped down by pinkbeard news you conclude I don’t hold promises? I do, I just don’t post them on a website about mods and game development. Its not because I feel it’s a good idea to make a promise about something that this makes it relevant to be front-page news.
So making a complete news post for every web comic page that gets released is front-page worthy in your opinion? For me its not, but I'm sure its great for the people who "watch" the project (again use that option) In the ends its also possible to make a news post about it when the full comic is finished, instead of doing it for every page.
And yes I would rather have it the Black Mesa Source way who don’t try to get in the spotlight every single day and still manage to get a large fan base and win awards on this website. At least they don’t bump down all the other news and still manage to impress people.
There is no way any project manages to have something front-page news worthy every day, yet you guys manage to get on top of the news almost every day, and you clearly start to notice that in the news subjects. I don’t really care if there’s a news post about a web comic, or one about pixel art, its just that it all starts building up with more and more of those kind of news posts and its starting to annoy me a bit. Still the news post about the actual development of the game are always very interesting and great to read/see.
I did, still don’t see why it has to be posted on the front-page of moddb as Overgrowth news.
As someone already mentioned a couple of news posts ago, I also start to get the feeling they try to get on top of the newspage every day! I wouldn't care if it was actual real news about the game, but news so far have been about a pink beard, pixel art, web comics and 4 or 5 news post about the same 'organic' game pack you could buy. For those things there’s an option to post news for people who watch the game only, this shouldn’t be on the front-page. I see no other game or mod do this and I hardly see any other game or mod on the top of the front-page everyday!
I think Overgrowth is an amazing project but I rather not have the other mod/indie news get bumped down every day by stuff like this.
@ moddb crew: is there a way I could filter out Overgrowth news or something?
So what does this have to do with Overgrowth?
I think you know the answer ;)
Looks great! Do we get the girl with those bags too? ;) ^^
All credits go to the contributors, most of them design and model the ships completely from scratch.
yay alien Trex, what a natural coincidence!
any plans for a mac version?
looks amazing, don't forget some feathers on his small arms ;)
The Universe will have core regions; civilized parts of the galaxy. This is where new players will start their game, where you can interact with NPC ,where quests can be found, where you can buy your hardware,... Players will have to return to those core regions from time to time to buy fuel. In other words there will be enough reasons for players to return to the core regions, where interaction with other players will be more frequent. If you stay outside of those regions you’ll miss a great part of the gameplay Infinity has to offer.
It’s not because our game world is huge that you will be easy to go everywhere. Going on an adventure to the unexplored parts of the galaxy is just an option, you’ll perfectly be able to play and enjoy Infinity for years without ever leaving the core regions. The biggest difference with other games is that we just don’t have borders, no ‘end of level’.
You will probably be able to start colonies and who knows, after some time new player-made core regions might form far from the main core regions.
and you have people who claim it will be easy to find Earth because they found a map of our galaxy on google LOL!
cool, does it work on mac too?
edit: looks like it does (FAQ)
Where do you think I get this picture from?
Koshime's logo is on the top left of the picture and if that doesn't convince you, check this:
the trailer looks very good!
ouch, so you don't have controle over your own profile?
Or just include it in this newspost!?
Ive been following the development of this game for years now, Im not an RTS gamer but this will be an exception!
something like that yes!
Oh and don't you ever forget about moddb anymore, this website owns!
nah just joking :) (well, it DOES own!)
Ok Spore is instant win! They started working on it with a goal; make it even more successful than the Sims and I think and I think they've hit the jackpot. This creature editor is only 10% of the full game will be and already thousands of people are addicted. The idea behind it is simple, yet brilliant, the creativity from the people using this is amazing and it’s just great to known your creations will be in other people’s games. This is the feeling only developers and modders got so far, but now everyone is able to feel the ‘magic’.
I think this is the best thing to 'modding/user creation' that happened to the industry in years. Gmod, now Spore and in the near future Little Big Planet, all of those titles are hitting the jackpot. This is the future, modding isn’t restricted to a small amount of people anymore.
Wrong, when we talk about 'velociraptor' we talk about Velociraptor mongoliensis as this is the only species recognized in the Velociraptor genus.
A Deinonychus is not a Velociraptorinae, it's a different genus.
Where do you get your information?
The velociraptors in JP should have been called Deinonychus because they look more like those.
JP has it very wrong and as a dinofan and fossil collector I’m happy to see this mod is going for a more realistic approach. I can really see that there are people in this team who know something about the real-thing.
Will this raptor get feathers ingame? I hope so :)
Thats why it's called "work in progress" ;)
well I’m still very disappointed with this decision… another arcade space combat game :S
I guess I'll stick to space games with newtonian physics; none atm
It's an indie game, lots of indie games go commercial
So does Infinity!
You can still edit your newspost
Yay for SP mod thats not set in the HL universe!
Is it big? How did it play?
I would like some more info from players before I download.
Oh to make clear, we won't have rain IN space, this is just to show of the effect in the AseToBin viewer ;)
We know that Jenny_Kitty, still looks very good!
Yeah I had a lot of artistic freedom with this texture pack, it was actually very fun to make as it is very different from anything else.
Im using bump and specular maps, no luminosity.
I would love to see some of your planetary textures, what project did you use them for?
Its our own engine called I-Novae engine.
Remember that its work-in-progress, this is only the first step.
Looks very pro
Looks good! :)
Good stuff guys, great to see you are still going!
Remember its all work in progress. We do our best to make it look as good as possible.
We are not really 'mapping' the cities, they will be generated by the engine using different building parts.
Like planets, every city and building in the game will be different.
I remember Sinking was playing the proto last time I was playing it.
Did you instal the latest drivers? Do you have an old computer?
Try this: Fl-tw.com
The Infinity community has been testing it for weeks (starting with 0.4 version), so the big probs/bugs should be fixed now.
The space station is supposed to be around 10km long, and 2.5 km wide. Ofcourse this is not the biggest station in the game, but you cant call it small eather ;)
Infinity has more to offer than any other resent space game, you cant have everything. Implementing FP stuff would be a lot of work(year extra maybe) and would have anything to offer to the gameplay. The sizes in the game will be realistic, it would take a week to run from one mountain to another, while you could do the same thing in a couple of sec with a space ship or ground vehicle.
Anyway, you never know what the future will bring, maybe...
btw: we are still searching for a good skinner, if you want to help join the forums and contact InfinityAdmin.
Yes, Betelgeuze is a big red star in Orion :)
From the FAQ on the site:
This is currently unknown at that time. Running an MMO is expensive. It might be possible to play for free for a while or without some advanced features, reserved to paying customers ( premium memberships ), or to support the game through sponsors/advertisement, but nothing is set in stone.
The size of the planet is possible in real-life and everything is scaled as realistic as possible.
Keep in mind those things are still WIP and we still have to work atleast 2 years on Infinity.
Wait till your stuff is finished, with 3 days of work its to early to release anything.
It gives a bad impression.. trust me ;)
Looking great! :D
Oh me too! :O
I visit Skyscrapercity.com almost every day! I was never into architecture but somehow its fascinating to see those big projects grow, especially in Dubai and New York!
If you ever do a new map for Off-Limits and need some inspiration for a new iconic building, you should have a look at the Ryugyong Hotel from North Korea ;) I'm sure it would fit the Off-Limits universe and had a 'post-apocalyptic' look for decades, until they started construction again in 2008.
Great, reminds me of the Freedom Tower construction!
looks amazing! *watching*
Looks very good!
Doesn't a mod need a homepage to be able to have a moddb account?
Yes thats really hard, why do you think most mods are MP?
Any plans for a Mac release later on?
My suggestion for the next release: "Camulos" Celtic god of war.
Mapper, modeler, texture artist... all the same guy! :D
Looks fantastic, as always! :)
I like the fog/smog, it adds a lot of character to the city imo. It would be great of you could add some steam comming from the sewers, like you see in big cities like NYC.
I agree, I had a lot of fun with the vehicles during the (old) playtests! Its one of the only good expierencies I've had with vehicles in source.
Those vehicles add a lot to the gameplay of the mod and make it stand out!
Amazing, great to see the 'duvel' sign hasn't been changed! :D
yes it is!
This might help ;)
impressive! A crane for the core on the contstrution site would be cool.
Pandas are evil, I knew it!
there's a lot of game studios who use the Unreal Technology, so I don't see that problem
wow its getting big now! Great work guys!
cool! well, looks amazing as always! Seen some great fanmade screens on the forums too ^^
Is the breed really that old?
I clearly see the influence from Mirror's Edge, and thats nto a bad thing! :D It reminds me of some of the ME pictures I've seen on your blog, amazing work!
the flora in this game has always been amazing!!! Most of the time I'm not impressed by RTS graphics, but this one does!
the weapon is from the leaked HL2 beta right?
Thanks a lot! :)
First free promo code for the iOS version, These can only be used once, so be quick! ;)
Looks like this is for the US only, worth mentioning on an international website imo!
I don't know, you should contact the moddb crew for problems related to the website.
I love the dinosaur animations and sounds!
cool new skybox
Congrats on the release!
So, was it worth it, the lightmapping? Ive played with it a little myself but the results where not what I was hoping for.
looking very good, nice artstyle!
I've never seen a pregnant Alvergast, so I can't tell ;)
looking great, very nice artstyle!
Yes, we are using the latest Unity version.
Really interesting art-style you guys are going for. Good luck!!!
some very interesting concept art, original!
a lot better!!!
I love it!
You know, Valve is an indie developer too they sell at full price too sometimes ;D same for ID-software until they joined Bethesda.
Interesting game concept!
How did you get nominated if the voting just started?
looks really great for Unity! :D
Fantastic, finally a good looking WW1 shooter! Great graphics on Unity too! :D *tracking*
Be carefull saying that, before you know it they contact your project leader!
I think it looks a lot better ingame than in the renders!
Nice pose! I hope to see them navigate like that in the eventual game too (jumping on objects,...)
Looking great, nice lighting and depth of field effect. In what way will depth of field be used in the gameplay?
One of my favorite concepts so far for this game. Really good!
looking great as always!
looks great, maybe add some phong shading to the car?
Ive just downloaded from moddb, didn't get any options or registration forms before the download started. (mac version)
Also special because it works on Mac too.
So Ive downloaded this version, it says I can only use it for 30 days for free :s
It's the same ship ;)
what valve has given us in ""firts release" is not what we would expect from other companies
Thats more than 7000 people you are talking about...
everyone has its own opinion, and if people didnt have something to complain about they wouldnt!
I just had to quote your loveletter on our forum :D
oh and its been less than a month since our previous dev update ;)
reminds me of stalker and thats not a bad thing :)
Yes they will
Why not ask them to pay for it next time?
The real point is, you post news or you don't...
anyway; nice characters, a shame I can't see the rest!
high quality version: Fl-tw.com
They are not going to let you make this game, but good luck 'playing with the odds' :p
looks very realistic!
looks cool :)
great video on that german website, but why are those asteroids white? :s
so now moddb gets the screenshots before the official website?
Looks good as always :)
oh boy, I remember this screenshot, I loved it. It still looks great even if its an old screenshot.
I love this setting.
One of my favo screens, the flora looks so realistic!
the thumbnails are not linked to an image
and see how many play them...
So you are going to start one next year, or it will be done next year?
The source engine is getting a little old so starting a mod in 2009 is a bit late considering it takes years to complete it.
It showed an indie logo next to the newspost instead of a hl2 logo. :)
So why are you guys listed as a standalone game?
Yes, it is :)
no that not a 'huge' ship.
Infinity won't have planet destroyers
Hehe Asskicked, nice one! ;)
It looks nice as always, but I see some some influence from Japanese art-style(manga) in some of the concepts. Personally I would stick to Western designs.
FRAPS is to blame for the slowdowns ;)
Sounds very good!
They got me hyped again :D
Looks a lot like this:
SinKing, all I can say is; thank you for your honest opinion. Personaly I like the end result a lot altought I agree that it could use some work. It's hard to say if this ship will make it in the final game(as with every other ship) but always keep in mind that those renders never represend what it will look like in the final game, its all WIP ;)
I want to add that contributors get constant feedback from Koshime and the other devs, I think Koshime even helped texturing this one.
Nice screenshots Koshime :)
Looks very good
original, nice skin!
Looks good, nice rocks
Ive seen this news post before, exactly the same screenshots!
The first time it doesn't matter what username and pass you use, just remember to use the same one next time ;)
hmm... wait a sec ive seen that banner before!
what about copyright guys?
I never had lag while playing this mod.
Amazing screenshots, cant recognise anything from hl2(textures, props,...)
For rain :P
Those are made by the Infinity concept artist Koshime.
looks very good for HL engine!
looks good! :)
Its not mod, its a standalone game.
Great work as always!
I love this!
For a moment I hoped this was a WW1 mod but this is nice anyway!
A Linux port might come later after release, if there are enough requests. A Macintosh port is unlikely.
