Congrats to the winners! :)
Yes Its for PC (and Mac) but you need a Leap Motion to play it. Depending on the succes we might port it to other platforms (and maybe a non-leapmotion version)
I just wonder, why not make the menu in then same 'sketched'-style of the original menu sketch? I loved how that looked!
Cant wait to try this on my Ipad, looks great and fun too! *watching
Looking great already! :D
Very interesting! :)
I'm sure he knows what to do ;)
Yes we use Unity
Thank you, we appreciate it!
No decisions have been made in that area, everything is possible. We do hope to earn some money with this in some way.
This already looked great before, but damn... !
Doesn't a mod need a homepage to be able to have a moddb account?
Any plans for a Mac release later on?
Mapper, modeler, texture artist... all the same guy! :D
I like the fog/smog, it adds a lot of character to the city imo. It would be great of you could add some steam comming from the sewers, like you see in big cities like NYC.
It was already possible and done in 1984 with the Elite games. Procedural techniques enable you to do this without needing a hi-tech computer. I have no idea why no game studio has done this in the last decades with 'modern' game technology, it's a shame.
it has bumps
looking good! ^^
I agree, greatest thing I've ever seen!
corusant buildings are very different, these are more related to real-life buildings than anything.
Theres a lot of updates on our forum, the devs are very open and join discussions on the forums. You just have to look for it.
Only the best contributions will be used in the game, the more contributions we get the beter the quality we will have in the game. Every contributor will get credits for his work(even if its not used) and ofcourse its a great learning experience for people who are new to gamedesign.
All ships in the last screenshots are contributions.
Always been a big fan of you work, looks great!
Make sure you don't have grass in the levels
It won't be cut, it's the main feature/idea of the game.
If you visit a different star every sec of your life, you still wont be able to see all of them. Exploring all of it is impossible ;)
lol yeah, reading the whole update always helps...
Why now, after all this time... why today?!?
Looking great, as always!
So does this game have a lot of players?
Those will be added too in the game, this is only a test.
Those are hardpoints for weapons
A new video is planned in the coming months showing off all the things we have been working on the last months, but we want it to be polished and breathtaking. We still have a couple of things to do.
Oh and thanks for fixing the layout-probs of the newspost(whoever did it) The editor is a bit messy sometimes.
uhm the video doesn't work for me :S
it turns white when I want to play it.
This vid makes me want to try some of those mods :)
The links to the Mods Featured don't work for me.
I think Ive been waiting for 3 or 4 years now, its great to see this project evolve.
Hope to see a new video soon.
Yes you will
Oh I see :)
Strange that they took screens in a hl2 map, while they have fantastic maps of their own.
omg, thats the most amazing trailer ive seen for a mod so far!
flight system too hard? It was too easy imo O.o
and no newtonian physics anymore? ouch!
wait, isn't your mod based on an existing franchize? isn't that stealing? Did you get permission to make a Metroid project?
that was in the HL age, this is hl2... harder times for modders!
Not sure why it doesn't show up, I'll contact the moddb crew
Thanks, we appreciate it!
I'll post a video of this ship later today ;)
This is one of the only mods that gets my hyped again with a new release.
Looks very good!
very nice! So you guys are remaking some of the game art before release?
Yes its a render.
Dead? That's still in one of the top layers.
Going deeper would look like this:
The concept art is only an inspiration source, the modeler still has artistic freedom and does what he thinks is best.
@ gits: we are only asking questions, calm down please!
amazing water effect, very nice for the quake2 engine!
Best screenshot so far, this one got em intrested!
Home made bullsquid?
I want to see it in action ;)
Does the combine train fit in that gate?
The ships dont have a final texture, only a placeholder.
Remember this is only a prototype to test some things, we never planned to add a lot of eye-candy in the first place.(but we still did)
The prototype is nothing compaired to what the full game will be ;)
wow thats amazing! Sweet stuff guys :D
This could help:
The best thing is to post your bugs in this topic on the infinity forum:
thats cool :)
I think Im going to play this mod again! Looks great!
Maybe Ill try Dystopia again later, looks nice
Bugs ( you'll see them in the video ):
- sometimes lasers pass through surfaces. Easy to fix.
- the "spawn" position of a laser is the center of the turret, not the guns of the turret. Have to add the notion of gun on a turret
Looks fun! going to try it when its release!
Looks like a great start, good luck! :)
Yes Elite has a lot of influenced on Infinity, and all the cool features like landing on planets in real-time and open ended gameplay will be in Infinity to.
You can always ask questions on the Infinity forums, almoste every day Infinityadmin posts new info and screenshots in the developent journal on the forums.
It's looking good
Thats great news!
you do? ;D I hope so! :D
yes a IndieDB/ModDB blog is a great idea!
Yes, it's in the same level, thats why you see a lot of the same mushrooms. We are hard at work producing more game assets to add more variaty to our environments
Yes you can play the game in your webbrowser, our screenshots are taken in one.
Puzzle adventure gameplay and the player will get a lot of freedom (non-linear gameplay). Yes, there will be interaction with other players but we haven't announced anything about that yet.
We are currently in pre-alpha stage, getting our artwork ready, testing out different things, nothing is set in stone so thats why we have'nt revealed a lot about the gameplay yet.
So, was it worth it, the lightmapping? Ive played with it a little myself but the results where not what I was hoping for.
looking very good, nice artstyle!
nope ;) but nice try! :)
Thank you, and thats correct! ;)
I've never seen a pregnant Alvergast, so I can't tell ;)
I agree about those suggestions. These screenshots are made in an early test level, and do not represent what the final game will look like. Our main levels should all be underground, so no atmosphere, but we will definitely try to add more light and color to our environments. We also plan to 'play' with some nice particle effects to create floating mushroom spores that give off some light.
Fireflies and glowworms are planned too and will infact play a big role in our games. The player will have a pet glowworm that can evolve in a firefly later on. Those will light up the environment around the player, so they are never in the dark. This is what they will look like: Sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net
Thanks for your feedback!
Thank you for your support and encouragements, I appreciate it!
looking great, very nice artstyle!
Yes it is, but that’s exactly why we are doing this project! :)
There have been many education games, but most of the time they are not fun, that’s the main problem with these types of projects. We feel a game should always be fun, no matter what they are about. Most of the time the main problem is that those children know they are dealing with learning material, it's too obvious and not fun. They know they are being tested, and don't solve the problems because they want to but because they feel they have to, that’s not rewarding. You have to 'hide' it a bit and think about gameplay first.
They have been doing this for years with math riddles, trying to hide the boring 'math' in a story, to make it more interesting. Games are a great medium and give a lot of opportunities to do it better.
Yes, we are using the latest Unity version.
Take your time, first impression is important!
Most people are too busy celebrating and playing games they got for Christmas anyway ;)
the first screenshot looked like a concept painting, great!
now I just have to wait for the mac release!
Not sure what its about, but the first concepts got me interested +watch
Really interesting art-style you guys are going for. Good luck!!!
some very interesting concept art, original!
buying and telling friends (already on my facebook)
IOTY vote! ;)
Really? And what’s holding you guys from taking a new name, story,... ?!
That would solve a lot of things for you but it looks like this dev team is too stubborn and that makes it all very suspicious!
There’s definitely something wrong (no matter if its true or not), but instead of trying to do something about it you guys just keep ignoring it. You are obviously not going to change the players mind like this!
I had the same, but it happens with a lot of source games lately. Not sure if its a prob with source or with my laptop but my laptop should be able to run source perfectly.
