Yes its a mmorpg with complex gameplay features and next-gen graphics, thats why its only 30%!
We have to work alteast 2 years, to finish it.
@Pvtbones: Most of the 'twinkling' is because of the video, but the stars will also twinkel a little in-game because every star is only 1 pixel.
@NzMM: No I havent played MoO but ive played a lot of other space games. The Elite games are our biggest inspiration.
Its hard to say what the requirements will be in 2 years, so to be honost I dont know.
It will be possible to find primitive alien life forms but no alien civilizations, the universe will be rich enough with humans only. At this point we are only concentrating on the most important parts of the game(ex: terrain engine), its to early to tell how animals will interact to the world.
Thanks :D, all credits go to Brebion(aka InfinityAdmin).
In all the recent space games it wasn't possible to land on planets in real-time, our vision is to make that possible again with the next-gen game Infinity. We try to make a games that all the Elite fans have been waiting for for years.
The game will have more than 100 billion planets, we are going to do everything we can to make every planet exciting to visit and explore.
You will be able to find citys, forests, primitive alien life forms, volumetric clouds, weather and storm effects,...
An early test for example shows its possible to generate hundrets of trees:
This screenshot is very old and was only a test, its nothing compaired of what the final version of Infinity will like like!
Looks like a great start, good luck! :)
The game is called Infinity: The quest for earth, when we say 'Infinity engine' we are referring to the 'engine of the game Infinity'.
The engine will probably get a real name after some time.
The size of the planet is possible in real-life and everything is scaled as realistic as possible.
Keep in mind those things are still WIP and we still have to work atleast 2 years on Infinity.
With all respect but maybe you released the demo a little to fast. Ok I know its only a demo, but its still not a good idea to release a mod with only one map. Its a shame because the work you people have done is great and it has good gameplay, but playing the same map over and over again gets booring after some time. A lot of gamers who played Dystopia got bored and a lot of those players are not going to play Dystopia anymor. Releasing a demo and releasing the full-version months later doesnt have the same effect as only releasing a finished version with all the features and 10-15maps. Its a shame, but thats how gamers are.
I have to be honest and tell you that I was realy exited about Dystopia and I loved it for a couple of days, but now im not excited anymore and I dont know if Im going to download the full-version when its released. If you released it with 5-10 maps I would probably still play it.
I cant wait to see the first media ;)
Wait till your stuff is finished, with 3 days of work its to early to release anything.
It gives a bad impression.. trust me ;)
so... they are back?
If you play very long you will be able to own a lot of ships and they can be controlled by NPC you hire. You can order them to do a lot of things for you like trading, exploring,...
When you decide to start a war you can send all your ships to the 'battlefield' to start a big war. You need a lot of time, money and skills to do something like this but it will be possible if you really want.
I cant say anything about possible vehicles yet.
In space you will be able to go faster than light.
The most original looking HL2 mod so far! MOTY!
Remember its a next-gen game ;) those requirments will be standard in 2 years.
Im only a texture artist for Infinity ;) , 99% has been made by Flavien Brebion(aka InfinityAdmin).
The Infinity team has 4 members atm, but we are always looking for new talented artists.
Trust me, Infinity will stay alive ;) the people who work on infinity are mature and very professional.
The features are all posten on the fininity site: Fl-tw.com
If you have a lot of question you can always join or community forum ;)
Yes infinity has a plot, but only the basic plot line has been released:
We are not planning to add player models to Infinity, walking in your ship and on planets will probably not be possible. Walking on a planet wouldnt be fun, the size of planets are be realistic so it would take hours to go from mountain to mounten, vehicles are faster and more fun.
google earth rip? Every mod or game is ripped if you say that. :P
Trust me >google earth is nothing compaired to Infinity.
Screenshots of ships, and other stuff will be released when they are ready. Making a game like this is a lot of work, first we want to finish the terrain engine. We still have to work atleast 2 years on infinity so please be patient.
Like every other MMORPG Infinity will need a good server. Thx for your vote, it would be great if we get an award!
Landing on more than 100 billion planets in real-time(!) is the most important feature of Infinity.
The new screenshots you see in the gallery are from a random place on a random planet.
atm Im making texture packs for almost every type of planet you can imagine
Yes Elite has a lot of influenced on Infinity, and all the cool features like landing on planets in real-time and open ended gameplay will be in Infinity to.
You can always ask questions on the Infinity forums, almoste every day Infinityadmin posts new info and screenshots in the developent journal on the forums.
The combat in Infinity will be unique, Infinity uses newtonian physics so fast combat like in freelancer will be difficult to do. I think its will be something between freelancer and simulation.
what about standalone games? Can they win a 'mod' award?
Sorry, I dont have permission to release anything.
99'% of all this is made by one person; Flavien Brebion. Its amazing what he can do and how fast he works.
Recently some other talented people joined him to form a small team, trust me you aint seen nothing yet!
If one team can to this, its the Infinity team!
Its possible, we use a lot of smart techniques(LOD's for example), it looks 'havy' but it isnt. ;)
Minimum system requirements:
CPU speed: Intel Pentium IV 2 Ghz or AMD Athlon 1500+ or equivalent
RAM size: 512 MB
Video card: a graphics card supporting pixel shader 2.0 (ATI Radeon 9500+, NVidia Geforce FX+)
Disk space: at least 2 GB
Internet connection: 56k modem
Operating system: Windows 2000 or later
*These minimum requirements are only estimated and will probably change to something
more accurate as the development progresses.
Infinity is a next-gen game and will be in development for at least 2 extra years.
looks good! :)
great work, looks pro!
Your comments, suggestions and questions are always welcome!
No, you can do whatever you want.
Quote from the 'about' section:
Infinity is like a modern mmo version of Elite.
